AVOID THIS. I recently rented a property through Taylor’s and had a very disappointing experience. During the renting process, I specifically asked the agent multiple times whether all utilities were included. Each time, she assured me that they were. Even when I received the contract, I asked again to confirm that utilities were included, and once more, I was told that everything was covered.
However, after moving in, I was informed by the landlord (who lives nearby) that the internet was not included. When I approached the agent, she simply pointed to the contract and explained that the internet wasn’t part of the utilities. This was extremely frustrating because she had never mentioned this crucial detail during the contracting process, despite my repeated questions.
What makes this situation even more frustrating is that, even in the contract, the definition of utilities clearly includes electricity, gas, water, and internet. Now, I’m stuck in a six-month lease, but all broadband plans in the area are for 18 or 24 months. Who is going to cover this extra cost? Had I known from the start that internet wasn’t included, I would have reconsidered my options and possibly rented for a longer term to align with the broadband plans.
I’m left questioning if this constitutes some form of deception, as the agent deliberately withheld important information to mislead me into renting the property.
