We were offered a viewing under the most bizarre of circumstances, since they claimed that the property wasn't even available and there was a long list of applicants. That story was amended to everyone being crazy and rude and we were the only polite people to contact them. Take note of that fact! I attended a viewing, all seemed fantastic. I put down a deposit immediately, sent them all the relevant information by email. We went through the referencing without any problems but that is when things got really weird. No one actually told us - I just got an email asking me to confirm who was paying the deposit. I had to actually ask if we had passed the referencing step. Then I was told 15.08.21 they were just waiting on gas and electric certificates and they would send out the tenancy agreement. We were supposed to be moving on 02.09.21 so everything was getting really tight, time wise. So both myself and my partner tried to contact them to find out exactly what timing we were looking at. My partner needed to give landlord and employer her notice and also needed to cancel all her utilities. We were told they were waiting and they could do nothing about it! So after a week, we asked again. I got an email in return accusing me of being crazy, telling me I had no reason to be so upset. The tenancy agreement would have needed to be emailed to Somerset, posted back. I would have had to go into their offices and signed my half. I would then have had to pay the full deposit five working days before they would have given us the keys. So that's seven days, one day to receive, one day to send back and sign and five days for the deposit. I am writing this on 22.09.21 - so exactly seven working days before our move date. So what did Castle Wildish do? Did they offer us any hope or reason to not worry about this extremely limited time line? Nope, they advised the landlord to withdraw from the proceedings!! My partner, single, with two children has given notice at her work, given notice to her landlord, given notice to all her utilities and Castle Wildish withdrew our application at the last minute!! So she is now potentially unemployed and homeless as of Oct 2nd! All because we dared to ask them what the hell was going on, and whether or not we would even be able to move on Oct 2nd! Apparently I have mental issues and there was no reason to be so stressed that we couldn't get the children places at schools without a tenancy agreement, no reason to be upset I had booked a removals van that was non-refundable. No reason to care that I had arranged for the internet to be installed on Oct 1st. No reason for Louise to suffer from insomnia, worrying about being unemployed and homeless. Nope, none of that mattered, because apparently, that was just a story I was telling them to coerce them into giving us a tenancy agreement outside of normal procedure! Neither of us have ever asked that question - the ONLY question we've been repeatedly asking is whether we could move on Oct 2nd and the ONLY reason we were asking that question is so we could make the proper arrangements. So beware, this company has clearly been abused by people during lockdown and they are now severely paranoid and will be triggered by the slightest of stress and completely destroy your life without a care in the world, whilst gas-lighting you and telling you you're just making up stories. My partner now has to beg for her job back, she has to beg to keep her home. The kids are absolutely devastated we are no longer moving. They are now stuck living in a house that is partially packed in boxes, ready for the move. We have lost a month of our time, we have been made physically sick with worry and all we are walking away with is an extremely bad taste in our mouths!! I am absolutely STUNNED this has happened and utterly utterly disgusted with the total contempt they've shown to us and our lives. All we needed was some reassurance, but instead we got stone walled and then gas-lit, followed up by a short notice cancellation of the entire venture.... Read more

Property listings are matched to data from the Land Registry by our clever algorithm. Clever as it may be, it isn't always right, especially if a property was listed by multiple agents. The asking price is the original listing price, NOT the final listing price.
