I resent giving 1 star but you have to press on a star to get the point of being able to write something. This agency does not operate on the basis of managing and looking after your properties. They will quickly fill your property with the worst type of tenant and take no responsibility when it all fails. They take days to provide feedback, if at all. There is no transparency and when they do engage on your feedback about poor service generally it’s a list of excuses and no action. There is a sprinkling of good people among them who work hard and I have no doubt that the only reason the lights are on. Very very poor. If you are a landlord and need property managed - Stay away at all costs.... Read more

Only giving 1 star because 0 stars isn't an option. This letting agency is actively the worst letting agency in Scotland. Their only interest is their own bottom line. I was with DJ Alexander for around 17 months and was astonished at how useless they are when it comes to everything you rely on a letting agency to do. Then when it comes to leaving your property they will make it as difficult as possible for you. And then, as if to rub salt in the wound, will charge you £24 for a landlord reference when you are applying for a new place. Genuinely avoid at all cost.... Read more

I used DJAlexander for several years without much issue. Unfortunately, they have implemented a poorly designed IT system and given up on having individuals being responsible for different properties. I used to be able to speak directly with one person for anything that was needed to be done. They would then relay it to the relevant team. As far as I was concerned, that service is what I was paying for. More recently things changed and got to the point where I found it impossible to work with them. I was having to speak to a dozen different people over several months to get simple jobs (PAT Testing, EICR, GSI etc) completed. I cannot stress enough how bad things have gotten from a landlords point of view. I wasn't receiving messages from my tenants about issues that needed urgent attention until weeks after the issue arose. One tenant lived with a broken washing machine in her living room for nearly 18 months because DJA messed up the collection of it on several occasions. Basically, they are now pretty hopeless and I advise you steer clear!... Read more

Should be zero stars... Useless can't even handle simple bank transfers. I've been in my flat for over 2 years, the rent is payed the same day every month by standing order no issues with rent since I moved in. Suddenly they can't find my payment this month, but the bank has confirmed they've been payed. Avoid if possible but that's pretty hard in Edinburgh nowadays. It would be comical if it wasn't so frustrating.... Read more

Looking for a property via Dj Alexander is an absolute nightmare. Agents do not show up to viewings. One of my viewing’s time was wrong because of their mistake, and the manager asked me to pay for a taxi to allow me to match the time they had on their online system. They do not reply to calls or emails. Meetings get cancelled without notice because viewings overlap with other agencies. If you are looking for housing in Edinburgh, save yourself some trouble and never use their services.... Read more

I had a very mixed experience as a landlord. Before and during the tenancy some staff were nice and competent, others were not. Daniel Walker was my contact person for a while and I found working with him stressful and upsetting. The worst was after the tenants moved out. The person who checked the flat didn't notice that one wall was soaking wet because of the tenants spraying water on the bathroom wall on the other side when there were cracks in the grouting. The checkouts team forgot to submit a claim for compensation from the deposit fund for this and other things. Also, when I asked them about compensation they pretended that it was still possible to make a claim when it was not and I wasted a lot of time on a long phone call and a long email exchange with them. I later found out from the deposit scheme that the deadline for making a claim had passed before I did these things. In particular, Allison Pearson's behaviour was extraordinary. However, I made a complaint which was dealt with in a reasonable way and I was given compensation by DJA.... Read more
