Absolutely shocking Estate Agents. I've had the displeasure of dealing with several branches, for a number of transactions, including purchasing a business, leasing a commercial unit and buying a residential property, all of which, have caused me severe distress and been financially debilitating, due to their lies and misrepresentation. It's unfortunate they have the monopoly in the Lake District, as there are some great Estate Agents around, that are drowned by this nasty, dishonest company. Be warned, question everything; ask for evidence, if you're unsure; don't trust anything they put on their sales documentation. One of many examples, I was looking to buy a business; they suggested a new lease may be available if desired; the business was being sold for over £130k, with an existing 2 year lease, so a new lease was absolutely desired. However, after spending nearly £8k on due diligence, there wasn't a new lease available, the estate agent hadn't even discussed it with the landlord, they just added that statement to the sales documentation to make the business more appealing. Don't even bother about complaining, as you'll be dismissed and then threatened by their solicitors. The company is still being run by Mr Derrick Hackney who has lost touch with reality and seems to be far removed from the 21st Century. If there is absolutely no alternative to using this awful company, please be very careful. I hope never to use them again, in fact, I'll go out of my way to make sure our paths never cross again.

I cannot recommend Hackney and Leigh at Ambleside highly enough. All aspects of the process of selling my late father's house have been exemplary: the valuation and early advice, the marketing of the property, the management of viewings and finally in progress chasing and reporting on the sale process. Their staff have been friendly, professional and pleasant to work with.

Tonia,Sue and the team in the Ambleside office were super helpful right from my first contact. They were speedy with responses and indeed the two women who showed me around the house fed back small issues which were then acted upon without me reminding. Tonia was particularly helpful on the day of completion when I was trying to complete at 5 o’clock on a Friday… Tonia had lost of other plates spinning but was incredibly attentive. Thank you all.

My wife and I have been absolutely delighted with the service provided by Hackney and Leigh in the sale of our home in Ambleside. Thoroughly professional, with diligent and painstaking personal support and communication throughout, the team at Ambleside , led by the sales Manager David Capps, have made what is often an incredibly stressful process, into a very comfortable experience.
From the very "get-go" they were efficient and thorough, the sales package was thoughtfully and professionally put together, and the sales promotion video presentation of our property showed the home we love to its best.
We have moved home 11 times over the last 44 years and the service Hackney and Leigh have given is by far the best.
We would, unreservedly, give them our highest recommendation.

From start to finish David and the team at Hackney and Leigh were very professional. We were not exactly a straightforward sale because of works needed on the property to remedy a broken water tank, but even with that their photographs were still impressive and we had many viewings and offers on the place. Once all the insurance work was done, they came round again and did some more photographs. They did all our numerous viewings for us an really took the hassle out of the process. They always phoned you back too. Highly recommended professional firm.
