Mullucks in Bishops Stortford are selling our house, and have been so good to deal with - completely straightforward, very pleasant indeed, and quick to reply to any queries. They have sent excellent and serious people to view our house, which I think is a great achievement in the current climate... also they really know the area well, having been established for so long and all the prospective viewers have had very good things to say about William and his colleagues.
On Mullucks Relationship with Contractors:
Sunshine Cleaning were the ONLY company Mullucks gave us a quote from before being presented with a high end of tenancy cleaning bill. This quote was £420 (incl carpets) to clean a small flat. A cleaner that David Lee uses quoted £250 (excl carpets). When I complained about the very high Sunshine Cleaning price, Mullucks did not get another quote from another company, instead, they got the landlord to pay half.
On Mullucks Integrity:
Joan Bull, the manager, hid information from the landlord. She made it clear to me that she managed the rental and she made decisions for the landlord.
On Mullucks Efficiency:
There were times when we had a stream of contractors at in our flat. Contractors often came for the most trivial of reasons. I assumed at the time that The landlord picked up the cost of those "repairs" and Mullucks picked up a commission.
On Mullucks Openness:
My landlord liked to be hands on but I had the impression that contractors had been informed by Mullucks not to speak to landlords directly.
The Mullucks office staff do not have the skills or knowledge to communicate maintenance issues. The extra level of indirection leads to botched jobs, and therefore, extra expenses. I had the impression that one motivation for the large number of contractor visits could be the commission Mullucks receive for each visit. Those visits are disruptive to the tenants and very expensive to the landlord.
When I asked if a motivation for all the contractor visits was the commission that Mullucks earn, Joan Bull informed me they "will be taking advice on your comments made against mullucks" (I took this as a threat in an email from them 18th May 2017)
On Mullucks Flexibility:
When Mullucks want your business, they are flexible. When you are signed (trapped) they become rigid and inflexible.
Would I recommend Mullucks Wells?
Of course not. I would not trust the current staff to manage my property. Indeed I am one of their "long term tenants" but being a "long term tenant" does not mean that I embrace Mullucks Wells involvement in the Letting process. I do not consider them to have been good for either the tenants or the landlords.
A quick google search will give a list of good alternatives to Mullucks.
Absolutely AMAZING service and an excellent experience over a potentially stressful time!
I used this agency twice and on both occasions I was very satisfied with their level of communication, professionalism and keeping us updated at every single step. On this occasion I would like to mention David Carter who worked above and beyond to ensure our sale goes through before Christmas. From day one, David came across as a very passionate and committed to his job and us as clients. He always been one step ahead of me when it came to undertake different tasks. David, did everything to make things run as quickly and smoothly as possible. It is well known that selling/buying a house it is one of the most stressful time, but David's updates lessen my anxiety and helped me manage the stress better. Therefore I would highly recommend Fenn Wright as they provide the best service you could get from a local agent. I have been let down by the most estate agents in the area before so, I will not attempt contacting any others in the future but Fenn Wright.
Rented accommodation through Fenn Wright, great at the beginning. When it came to the end of tenancy, nightmare, was given incorrect information several times. After being put through to 3 offices across the UK I am still awaiting for the actual responce.
Its hard where to start on one of these reviews as you are about to describe one of the biggest ocassions and investments in your life, so you want it to be meaningful and from the heart, as its not just another product from Amazon.
My Partner and I were taking the next step of selling our properties and purchasing one together in a different county. We tried some local village agents in the vacinity of where we lived and i wasnt 100% impressed as I have high expectations, and wasnt getting the feeling they were selling our home, only a feeling of seeling another house.
I then thought our property would attract the London market as well as the local market and decided to call Savilles in Bishops Stortsford, even though it was a relatively small property in comparison to what I thought the kind if property Savilles would normally be interested in. Gosh I was so wrong. I was and still to this day am so thankful that Hannah Tomlin answered the phone and we had a chat for a good 15 mins, followed up by a property visit and meeting days later. From that moment onwards we knew it was Savilles we wanted to give our home to, simply becasue Hannah treated it and spoke of it as if it were her home. We were made to feel throughout the entire process, every time we spoke we had their fullest attention, our priortiy were their prioriy. No conbversation was ever cut short or rushed, (and i can waffle on sometimes) Hannah was gracious, patient, switched on like you wouldnt believe, and just knew the right timings of calls, conversations and emails.
Hannah and the team, I felt went out their way, albeit for them it was probably their every day service, to the point they even tried to help with our ongoing purchase.
Sadly, and I truly mean sadly we were purchasing our new property from a Knight Frank agent in a different county, which has to be in all my years the worst experience ever, I was totally appauled by the disrespect, pressure, cockyness and disconnection with them.
Hannah, Sarah and all the team, thank you.
To all the readers, I have no hesitation in recommending Hannah and her team and Im sure you can see why. I dont write reviews often due to time, so when I write one, I mean it.
In the words of Tina Turner. They're simply the best !
I have very recently exchanged contracts to purchase my 'dream' home through Savills. I will take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all of the staff within the Bishops Stortford Office of Savills who bore the brunt of my angst in what, at times, proved to be a tricky purchasing transaction. However without the professionalism of the staff at Savills I could not have accomplished the purchase of my dream home, so please take this as a very positive recommendation to use their services for any property purchase in the Bishops Stortford area you wish to embark upon.
Recently used Fox to rent out our flat in Bishop's Stortford (finders fee only). Martin is great, really personal service. Phones back quickly, keeps you updated on everything that's happening and happy to give advice on how to do things properly, even when it's not directly related to his responsibilities. Only took about 2 weeks, start to finish, to get new tenants in. Will definitely use again.
I lived in Bishop's Stortford for 2 years and half, I always paid my rent on time and Fox's manager Martin Tyler told me that I was the perfect tenant. But when I left the apartment I had to wait more than 2 months for my deposit, while the contract stated "return the deposit within 30 days". Martin Tyler was not paying it and he was not answering my emails. I had to write him every day and insist. He aswered me only when I told him that I was about to call the police and I got my money after a few days. Also, he took 30 pounds from my deposit for the VAT, but it was not mentioned in the contract.
My reply to what Martin Tyler answered me here:
1) I know that I am not the only one who had to wait for months before getting the deposit back. I know other people who had the same problem with you.
2) I did not abandon my furniture, because both me and you spoke to the new tenants and they said since the beginning that they wanted to buy everithing. I also helped you every day to mediate with them, explaining terms and conditions. I left the house the 11th of November 2019 and they moved in the 22th of November 2019, they paid straight away, I saw their receipts. Anyway, my deposit was not linked to theirs.
3) Concerning the VAT, I never received the receipt you are talking about.
Absolutely exceeded all expectations!!
The sale was quick and efficient but not to the detriment of the service. All of the team were a pleasure to deal with and make the entire process stress free and we were in the loop the entire time. Special mention to Andy.
Was just told on the phone, that they were out of my league! Then he hung up, all because I questioned the 5% selling fee. However, after the company reading the review, they called me up and apologised. Well done! Apology accepted!
