Latest Reviews for Ascend Properties - Liverpool

Ascend Properties are a disgraceful bunch of lazy ripoff merchants. They do everything they can to get you to sign a lease and start paying them rent, but at that point they no longer care about doing their jobs properly.

Poor communication. They have to be repeatedly chased.

Repairs are not done promptly, nor even properly. Their contractors seem to specialize in fiddling with things without actually fixing them.

Their fees are a complete rip-off. They must be seething that the government no longer allows them to gouge their tenants.

In short, avoid these shysters.

Never answer the phone, on one occasion my friend had to go into store so that I could get a response and they had the phones disconnected. Failed to give us a code to access our property on the first day. So disappointing to say the least. Constantly having to follow up with emails that haven't been replied too.

UPDATE:
What's really funny is that you have decided to reply to my review with lies, just to justify and try to make my review seem incorrect. Also still not an apology for on many occasions ignoring your customers. Very embarrassing you have to go to this degree, when its clearly a problem from the other reviews written. Terrible customer service, Malkit Singh is very unprofessional with dealing with complaints.

Make sure you keep evidence of every interaction with Ascend and of every issue with your property as they are trying to make me pay for repairs and improvements to the property that were much needed before I moved in. Very shady letting agents.

Among many instances of a lack of professionalism, there was a day around the middle of my tenancy where I was in the shower and heard my front door opening. Turns out an Ascend employee had just let themselves in with absolutely no notice given to "carry out an inventory" and proceeded to enter every room and see what each room compiled of.

I recommend to anyone reading this post DO NOT,I repeat DO NOT get a tenancy through Ascend. Over the course of the two years we have been with them they have been nothing but terrible in their service towards us and at the end of the tenancy have lied in order to try and get us to pay for repairs that had nothing to do with us. To highlight their unprofessionalism they at one point committed a huge breach of GDPR to which we have contacted a solicitor and the ICO to enquire about, but I will get to that later.

A couple of the standout moments that make Ascend properties the worst letting agents I have ever dealt with are as follows:

1) Our washing machine broke and leaked all over the flat and myself and flatmates spent all night trying to soak up the water pumping in to the flat. We contacted Ascend immediately to notify them of the damage caused and how it had gotten underneath the lino flooring to cause water and air bubbles. Ascend took 2 and a half weeks to confirm to us they would send somebody out to fix it, but didn't. We repeatedly contacted them (with all the emails to prove it) but to no avail and had to make do without the ability to clean our clothes for over a month. When they eventually did send the handyman out, he told us that ALL of the damage to the floors was caused by the faulty washing machine, not by us.

Ascend then had the audacity to charge us at the end of the agreement to replace the floors. Floors which wouldn't need replacing had they done their jobs in the first place.

2) Our bathroom, which had no windows and a broken ventilation system, began to get very mouldy walls due to the fact moisture couldn't be extracted from the room. We bought mould cleaner from a hardware shop and scrubbed the walls ourselves but it always came back. We notified Ascend many times again of this problem, which had escalated to the point where the door handle got mouldy and fell off, meaning whoever was in the shower had no privacy. It took Ascend again nearly a month to come and fix the issue which could only have been caused by their own broken ventilation. Guess who is trying to charge us for mould on the walls following our exit of the property? You got it.

3) Upon our arrival two years ago we noticed that the walls were stained in multiple rooms on the day we moved in. (Good job cleaning the place guys). I took pictures of the walls as evidence that this was already a problem as I am aware a lack of evidence can mean they may try and charge us for damage. I forwarded the pictures to Ascend properties and they replied that they would take note of the pictures. Guess who is trying to charge us for causing stain damage on the walls? You got it again!

4) Awful customer service. Taking weeks to reply to emails. Passing off issues to other agents constantly and nobody taking responsibilty for assisting us. Not to mention the GDPR breach...

If this isn't bad enough, let it be known that your information isn't safe with Ascend either. They sent us emails meant for other people. Why? Simply because they shared the same first name as my partner. These emails contained sensitive information about people who we don't know. When we told them what they just did, they followed this up with what can only be described as a "Whoops. Can we take that mistake back?" email. If they are sending us sensitive info belonging to other people simply due to mixing up first names, I wonder who they have sent our information to?

All in all this is the least professional letting agents I have dealt with and there are many better and safer in Liverpool. I could go on with many more complaints but for this review I felt it more helpful to potential tenants to keep it slightly more brief. We have discussed our issues with a solicitor and have contacted the ICO regarding our concerns about the GDPR breach. Thanks for all the stress, Ascend. Ironically, I bet that Ascend replies to this post quicker than they ever replied to any concern we had about our living arrangements.

Absolutely hate ASCEND. Since the very beginning it was hard to get in touch with them either by email or phone. I always had to CHASE them like some kind of psychopath. During the rental they have emailed me about being late in payments - I paid for these 6 months upfront in October. Brilliant mess there guys. I also have inspection which I wasn’t aware of, but the guy said several time I should get email from the office - I didn’t. Best to come, just bare with me.

1. I was renting in Liverpool @ Alexandra Tower, from October to April - technically to March. I moved out earlier but I closed up all bills & payed everything till the end date on the agreement which is April. STILL once I got back like a week or two before check out date (10th of April) to clean and take rest of my belongings I found up that they disabled my fob key. LIKE WHAT THE HECK ? Guy who works on the desk let me in and informed that ASCEND removed me from the address already. How dared they if I paid till April and I still had my keys ? Which obviously I used to get into the apartment to take my stuff and then I left.

2. After the key was returned in the office I was expecting check out inspection on 10th of April - which didn’t happen till next two days in which I had to chase them daily about updates. Then the report was an absolutely a joke as they were trying to pin on me ridiculous things ?? luckily I took photos and videos on my move in date and reported it both ways by email and phone call so I had proofs of it.
First, they tried to charge me for a broken window, then for two nails in the wall and bad state of walls in general. FUNNIEST thing was that this broken window was mentioned in the inventory (made by them) and these nails were on the pictures (taken by them in September) which I got before I even decided to rent this flat. On these photos you could clearly see two paintings hanging on the wall (which left nails marks obviously) and rest of the marks and scratches all around. But who cares right? I guess they were trying to check who’s an idiot & who will pay for whatever they say. This was 2 weeks BATTLE proving them wrong and when I was about to file dispute which I told them I will do, they agreed with what I was saying. Don’t mention I even had to send them a video where you could see still wet floor from cleaning, because they wanted to charge me for not leaving the apartment clean . HORROR

3. Now it’s been a week after they “passed the information about deposit release to accountants team” and I still haven’t receive the money. I emailed them what’s going on and still didn’t get the answer for my question. WHEN I WILL RECEIVE MY DEPOSIT.

The lady I always had to chase is Fiona Trigg. The guy I had battle with about the deposit is Adam Mack.

I’m pretty sure this review will end up nowhere and time to get back my money off them will be extended now but....

You guys just do yourselves a favour and DO NOT DEAL with Ascend, or if you do, make sure you have tons of photos and videos and proofs of the state of the property you moved in. Otherwise you will lose big.

Poor service. Flat was meant to be furnished on moving in, no furniture when I moved in and had to wait a week without furniture, no apology. When my key broke I was given an incorrect key to the front door. Left with no other response than to try each key at the office to see what worked. This is not feasible as I work long shifts during the day so now I'm unable to access my flat. Disappoibted, won't be using again
