I instructed Bairstow to market my property. The staff were always polite and cheerful however overall I was disappointed with their service despite some impressive premium listing features and smart templates.

I was never provided with a copy of the contract for my instruction despite a number of requests for a copy to be sent.

The advert that was uploaded to the property search engines was full of small errors and had a lazy description that didn’t fully explain the features of the property. The floor plan didn’t reflect a large outdoor terrace which was a big selling point of the property despite providing them with an accurate version. I chased this for two months and it was never rectified. I also had to chase them to enable ‘premium’ features like featured listing that I had paid for but that wasn’t enabled when the listing went live (after chasing this was enabled).

One of the main reasons for my disappointment was the fact that the balcony doors (on my low floor property) were left unlocked and open after two separate viewings, which is something that burglars often exploit.

Unfortunately as I could rely on them to get small things like this right, I lost all confidence in them being able to get the big things right, like actually selling my property and withdrew my instruction.

They need to focus on getting the basics right and providing a service worthy of the commission price tag.

Edit: as if to drive the point home I received an automated email with my signed contract almost one year to the day after I terminated my instruction. Unbelievable.
