Excellent estate agent! Everyone in there, both letting and sales, were so friendly and helpful, that even my dumb questions didn't seem stupid. They have taken so much stress out of the process of me and my family moving house, that all I am now worried about, is will all our stuff fit in the new place? They also help with moving contact details for utilities etc. Will definitely go to these guys first in the future, as my previous experience with some other agents has been somewhat terrible!

I appointed Barkers to sell my flat as they had provided great service previously. I was not disappointed this time. Jack came to value the property and his friendly and professional approach was much appreciated. After a careful appraisal he confidently suggested a sale price that was above our expectations. When we received a very good offer within one week of going on the market by the first person to view it we were very impressed. The sale was quite prolonged but throughout the process we were kept well-informed by Fiona who communicated very effectively with all parties and really gives estate agents a good name. Jack and Fiona - you are a credit to Barkers! I am a happy customer and would recommend you to others.

DO NOT USE!

I recently rented a property from Barkers out of sheer desperation, as I was moving from London and had 1 day to view properties. I went into the office and they helpfully arranged a couple of quick viewings that day, to which I was grateful and had to choose 1 property. Had I had more time to look around I perhaps would not have selected the property that I did. After moving into the property, mould started to grow in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room.

I reported this to Barkers and they did get a damp surveyor round who informed me that the walls were not properly insulated and the whole property needed to be done. Barkers got this report and then went on to get another surveyor in who basically said the same thing. At this point I was still living in these conditions but they proceeded to get a further damp surveyor in who seemed to say something different and more aligned to what they wanted to hear, which I found unusual.

Barkers finally agreed to let me out of my contract early, after numerous requests. Before I moved out of the property they got a contractor in to 'fix the damp' - The contractor painted over the mould in the bedroom and scraped some off the wall in the kitchen and that was their way of fixing the damp, so the person who moves in the property next will have all the same issues. The contractor himself couldn't believe the state of it and said a lot more needed to be done. I spoke with the neighbour who informed me that the 2 previous tenants had the same problem, although barkers told me there had never been an issue with the property before me.

Barkers have now had the audacity to charge me a 'checkout fee' and take that from my deposit.

Do not use this company is my only advice.
