I have spent the past two years of life chasing snags and defects with Charles Church (Persimmon Homes) It's not as bad as some of the Persimmon stories out there but it's not great. Francesca who runs the sales office is generally rude, condescending and grumpy....unpleasant to deal with. Then they push and push to get you to move in and the day we moved in they were still painting the place! They forgot to install a washing machine, various bits and pieces not finished. My favourite bit was that they installed a utility room door (which was meant to be a window on our plot) which opened onto next doors driveway. We moved in when it was still under a lot of construction and the onsite managers were actually fairly good to deal with and did come and correct issues, until we completed their satisfaction survey then they lose interest somewhat. We had sewage flowing up onto our driveway, issues with all the flooring (which still has not been resolved), back door glass cracks and mis-alignment, poor quality brickwork, garden flooding (still gets like a bog in winter), front door issues.....still not resolved two years later. Ultimately the build quality is ok, it's not amazing not terrible but you spend a stressful time having to chase and chase and chase to get anything resolved. It amazes me how things get left, I mean Phase 1 which was started 4 years ago still doesn't have a full set of working street lights. it's a nice estate with nice people, just need to drag yourself through 2-3 years of dealing with Persimmon which looking back, I question whether it was all worth it. UPDATE July 21: They STILL have not sorted our front door after ordering the wrong replacement over and over and over. They have just gotten the street lights working though........ Read more

Customer service non-existent post-sale. Numerous snagging issues in some houses. Palpable waste of tradesman time and resources during building, some issues having to be re-visited multiple times through ineptitude. Lack of information when requested. The Charles Church name is being de-valued by Persimon who are the actual Company.... Read more

Everything about this place screamed con. Up selling houses which definitely aren't worth the price, vague with details, the staff lose interest very quickly if they think you're not going to buy. Didn't feel welcome in their office and felt like it was a fight to get anything I wanted. The staff were too busy trying to sell their houses that they didn't care for the opinions of their customers. The houses, despite the expensive price tag, appeared cheaply made and small. The three bed I looked at was tiny and oddly shaped.... Read more

Nothing but trouble . Stay clear . Once they have your money they don't want to know you. I wasn't kept updated with anything and always having to chase them . I called the head office which was slightly better but then received a voice mail from the lady in billingshurst basically slaging me off and asking why I would call her head office . We were told we would complete in September and we are still not in and only get updates to say they are putting the date further back . They are a joke and I will never buy from them again . ????????????????... Read more

Want to complicate your life by buying a house full of faults that ultimately won't be fixed or covered by 10 year NHBC? Then go ahead and reserve your Charles Church home. Don't forget you're paying a 'new build' premium for those faults! My advice - look to buy from any other builder, or second hand with a survey.... Read more
