Our experience with City & County was not good - we had no viewings for the first month despite going with their recommenced valuation - we then dropped our price, got just two viewings which we conducted ourselves - after that nothing. Not once did they contact us, every communication was initiated by us. Would not recommend

I made an asking price offer and these people lied to me because I didn't fit their required profile, which was someone getting one of their mortgages. I was told during a phone call one morning three BLATENT lies – 1) my offer was rejected, 2) it was because the vendor didn’t trust me(!!) and 3) the vendor had accepted another offer. None of these were true. I had to contact the vendor in the end who did not, in fact, accept an offer until late on the afternoon of the same morning I was told mine had already been rejected. The vendor felt pushed into accepting an offer from someone getting a mortgage through their ‘in-house’ mortgage advisor. As for not trusting me, she said nothing of the sort! It was they who told her not to trust people not getting one of their AgentIsFinancial mortgages. Their behaviour was manipulative and devious. I guess they may try respond to this review for damage limitation purposes and say they apologised and it was all a ‘mistake’ – to which I say AS IF it was a mistake. I complained to the Property Ombudsman, and C&C’s response was pathetic. They gave no plausible explanation whatsoever. Property Ombudsman made them pay me compensation. It must have happened to loads of people who haven’t picked up on what they were up to. It is my genuinely held opinion that they are not to be trusted. They will not represent your interests fairly unless it suits their agenda. They will discriminate against you and mess about with your life to meet their own greedy ends. It was a real shock to uncover the lies I was told. I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole now.

They lack organisational and communication skills. They had the nerve to hang up the phone on my face because I dared to tell them that. Horrible, horrible agency. Say Big No to City and County!
After having a stressful dealing and loosing my £300 ,I would advise all the renters Please stay away from City & County.
Read carefully terms and conditions in the application form before signing it,they will ripp you off with the fees and charges during and at the end of tenecy period ,you may have to go court to get your deposit back as mentioned in other reviews.
They will be very nice and polite to you in the beginning ,as soon as you pay them any money,they will show you their true colours.
Very rude and horrible.

I believe now ,all the previous negative reviews are 100% true,please do read them as well.
If you want to loose your money and stay in stress all your time from start till end of your tenancy,this will be the place for you.

As far as letting agents go, these are the worst. Zero respect for tenants privacy. No courtesy when arranging inspections, they give you a date and that's that, it's happening. Maintenance issues ignored, but they do send in their handy man to fix things that aren't broken, sending the bills to the landlord. Customer service extremely rude and unhelpful once they have your money. Absolutely shocking..

This agency manipulate buyers and sellers to achieve their own ends - which is the best financial outcome for them. If you want and expect to be treated equally and fairly, on a level playing field with all offerors - and with respect because you are a human being, my advice is do not have anything to do with City and County, Peterborough. They are devious and will bare faced LIE to get what they want. They want you to use the services from which they stand to benefit. They want you to get a mortgage through them, they probably (I don't know) push conveyancing on you if you get that far - maybe cleaning services - who knows? What I do know for a FACT they told me at least three BLATENT lies when I made an offer for a property, but didn't want their mortgage. They lied to the vendor about me and they lied to me about the vendor. I have the recordings of the calls. The lies are clear. It was ugly and it was deceptive and it was downright corruption. Their explanation to the property ombudsman was pathetic and they were ordered to pay me compensation. Don't go near them is all I can say. There are other estate agents, the profession doesn't have a great rep, but I have dealt with a few and awful people take the biscuit.
