It's been four months since we rented a property with Edwards. They have been helpful in every possible way. There were a couple of maintenance / repairs issues in the property but all were sorted out asap. I am mainly in touch with Jodie and she has been replying to my calls/emails promptly.
Hands down, the worst service I ever received FROM ANY INDUSTRY!!!
All I wanted was to remain in my house (where I'd been living 2 years), after my housemate moved out.
They proceeded to charge over £500 "non negotiable fees" and increased my rent for the privilege of a name change.
They then found any reason to get me out, so that they could make more money re-letting.
They then rubbed it in my face by advertising the property with "reduced agency fees" and "pets welcome"
(One of the main reasons for my eviction being that I had a cat).
NEVER USE Edwards if you value money, time or ease of life.
I have received fantastic customer service and would highly recommend Chappell & Matthews. Lauren has been easily contactable throughout the process, and even went out of her way to arrange a second viewing at late notice.
This has been the most efficient and issue-free renting process I’ve had in Bristol.
Thank you Lauren!
Very expensive fees, appalling customer service , they will charge you ridiculous amounts for the smallest little thing and despite us being told by our landlord we would get our full deposit back we are yet to receive this money. The only redeeming feature was that the actual letting agent we met was nice. There is no way I would use this agency again.
very helpful and professional staff would recommend to anyone selling or buying a house
Of the three agents which tendered for our sale Hunters impressed us with their preparation and straight-out ward approach. They found a great buyer and processed the sale in 10 weeks with very little input from us.
Sold our flat really efficiently. We felt really well informed and supported every step of the way. Would definitely recommend Kendall Harper.
If you are a tenant in a rental property, stay well clear of this company. They do not stay impartial between landlord and tenant, but instead try to scam you out of as much of your deposit as they can.
When we first moved into our unfurnished flat on Cotham Brow we were surprised to find a corner sofa still in the flat. We were then told we can use the sofa or remove it as it was an old tenants. We decided it would be more hassle moving around a corner sofa so decided to keep it. We had a document from Kendall Harper stating we can remove the sofa during our tenancy.
18 days before the end of our tenancy I called up Kendall Harper to double check we were alright to take the sofa, and to get back to me as soon as possible as we were moving to Wales and planning on taking the sofa with us. Even though we had it in writing before, I wanted to check that both sides were happy.
2 days before the end of our tenancy, I got an email saying the landlord wanted to keep it, and he would be willing to sell it to me for £450. Unfortunately we had already moved the day before.
We spoke to Kendall Harper explained the situation, and we were laughed out the door. We spoke directly to Geoff, the manager at Kendall Harper and he personally called us thieves, and threatened us with losing over £1000 from our deposit. At no point did it feel that Kendall Harper were able to look at the situation from our point of view, after we had been given information by themselves, to say we can do whatever we want with that sofa.
As tenants we felt extremely unsupported by Kendall Harper, as letting agents they should be a neutral party between landlords and tenants, but it seems they will be loyal to whatever will get them the most money, not what it right and just.
We took our case to DPS, and we won which meant we received our full deposit back.
If you are renting in Bristol, stay well clear of this company, they will not ever be on your side.
Our experience with C J Hole in Kingswood was very positive. They are friendly and helpful, get back to you quite quickly and keep you updated. Great service and would recommend.
Completely shocking customer service. Me and my girlfriend viewed one of their properties and were told we would meet the landlord to submit an application to live there. Promised a phone call everyday for 5 days, didn't get one Phone call. Rang today and been told the property has been already been gone!!!!!. Me and my girlfriend taken time off work and lost money and not to even get a phone call. Avoid this place at all costs!
I had an excellent experience with The Apartment Company. As a first-time buyer, I really appreciated being able to tap into Sharon's thorough knowledge of the Bath market. She demystified the buying process, gave just the right amount of encouragement, and was prompt and efficient in all communications. Her advice, and Peter's, about what characteristics buyers like us should look for was spot on. Living abroad, we actually bought our flat without seeing it first, so trust was vital. There was still a certain amount of trepidation as we climbed the stairs to see it for the first time, but as soon as we opened the door we were delighted. As Sharon said, it is 'a great little flat', and our tenants love it.
I cannot explain how much I would advise against ever using this company for any of your property needs.
The whole experience from start to finish was ridiculously amateurish (particularly dealing with Jon and Laine). When deciding to make an offer for a rental property we had various emails ignored and would never be rang back despite being told we would on several occasions. After going to more senior staff this was eventually sorted but there is never a feeling anything is getting done without you holding their hands.
After thinking this may have been down to one employee we were then left in the hands of Laine at departure from the property and if anything the process was worse. Rude emails accusing us of leaving the apartment in bad condition when I had taken pictures and documented the state it was in, a constant lack of communication (after being told we would receive our deposit back within 2 weeks it took over 2 months for this to happen) and frankly a lack of any drive to get stuff done.
After these two months had passed we were luckily dealt with by Sharon who sorted all of the outstanding issues within a week, and thanks to her for that.
Despite this they are still hands down the most rookie company I’ve ever dealt with and to call themselves the ‘Apartment Experts’ is a laughable statement.
