I've have both been a FTB and more recently sold my property via Clarkes. We first listed our property way back in November 19 and were selling right through the Covid-19 pandemic, naturally, we've all seen extreme changes in circumstance and industry but I can't speak more highly of Clarkes and everyone there who remained positive and commitment throughout our sales journey and indeed these strange times. Without a doubt wouldn't use any other estate agent in the Sussex area.

As a tenants, renting a house in Arundel through Clarke’s Lettings, we have had a terrible experience with the company.
The have broken their own contract with us and not conducted any form of check out process, and yet have the cheek to charge us a £102 check out admin fee!
They don’t respond to emails, resulting in us having to chase up every email we send, days later. When we do get a reply after we have chased them up, they avoid answering our questions.
They originally wanted to deduct a ridiculous sum of £250 from our deposit for the landlord to buy a new stair carpet, despite the existing carpet having shown signs of wear and tear when we moved in 4 1/2 years previously, and the stairs being a very small area to carpet in a 2 up 2 down house. We requested an invoice for the carpet on many occasions as it is unbelievable that the carpet we lived with was worth £250 (our estimate is no more than £70 new). When we disputed the carpet claim, we were then blackmailed with the threat of a claim of £1300 for alleged damage to the house which we have not caused, which they are now pursuing because we did not backdown.
We had a detailed check in inventory but no check out inventory to back up their spurious claims, so we will now have to wait up to 3 months for our full £1800 to be returned via the TDS adjudication route.
The icing on the cake is Clarkes accusing us of harassment for copying in the landlords on the emails we send to Clarkes when trying to get our money returned to us.
Clarkes are everything that gives letting agents a bad name.
