If there is an agency to avoid, it is Clifton's! All bad comments on internet are sadly true. I believed it would have been better for me but we had a really bad experience too. We have rent a flat for two years during our expatriation in Bristol (we have maintained perfectly the flat and paid every month). The agency has communication issue (they hardly answer to your call / emails, you need to be more than patient, especially if you are not expecting an answer...)and not helpfull at all. As an example (I could write pages), they have explained us that the appliances not working (part of the Inventory) will not be replaced because "not essential to our life" (???)... After deposit deduction agreement, we had to fight to have our deposit back. 26 days (why it is so long?) to agree the deduction + 20 additional days after a deposit deduction agreement to receive the money (the day after we informed them we launched the DPS dispute process because they told us several times it was done and it was not). And you know what, instead of receiving simple apologizes, the agency owner send us an email where it was writing we were threating them and making wrong accusation. 2671 pounds they returned back after 56 days, hopefully we never gave up. And we will inform people (here), relocation companies and DPS with all piece of evidence we have. It is a shame this kind of unprofessional agency can still act as they do !!!

Very unprofessional agency, stay well away! I rented my property out through this Agency for 3 years and they did not do a good job at all. My rents were consistently late, they did not do decent spot checks. They charged me for final property check. The tenants left my house with mould on the walls, bags of rubbish I had to remove, , used condoms, broken smoke alarms, filthy carpets and oven and their own cheap furniture to remove. Cliftons did not support me after using them for 3 years. They wre on the tenants side. I spent hours and £300 on getting the house back to some level of decency, lost months of rent as it was not rentable. I did not get one penny back to cover the costs! My tenants got all their full deposit back despite the way they left the property. ????Please AVOID them at all costs!

Currently awaiting a return of a £1600 deposit despite the fact that we left the property in perfect order some 5 weeks ago.
Patience wearing very thin with the lack of response.
Will be in their office every day from this point forward to get this deposit back.

My son rented a property with these agents and the whole year was a complete nightmare. They give a veneer of efficiency, and are are quick to take students money. Once you are signed up they really could not care about you. They are very tardy responding to queries, they seem to ignore regulations and the final straw was trying to hold on to more of the deposit than was reasonable. They certainly tried it on. It really was a very stressful year. The problem is that they know that the next year another group of unsuspecting students will be ripe for picking and the cycle will continue.

Tom Rawlings dealt with my purchase of a flat in Bristol which took much longer than I expected due to issues with getting a mortgage as an Ex-Pat.
Throughout that time Tom was in regular contact with me to ensure that things were progressing and was able to keep the vendor engaged with my purchase despite there being long periods of apparent inactivity.!! I was impressed with his approach and asked him to handle the letting of the flat - after 2 days of marketing we have 5 viewings booked !!!

My partner & I recently sold a house with Cliftons & had a very positive experience. They are a small team & we found them very keen to find buyers in a difficult market & very efficient & their fees very competitive. We would definitely use them again.

Appalling customer service. The manager Phillip decided to get between a domestic issue and sided with one party and was frankly dishonest and rude to myself and my mother.

He told lies about the whereabouts of our keys to the house and only when I pressed him on the matter and told him my occupation he “found” them thrown in the bottom of a filing cabinet. How odd.....

When we called for updates on the property we were told that he had no idea as his administrator was not in the office..... I thought he was the “manager”

We did not get 1courtesy call in 4 months of having this house on the market with Clifton’s

You turn up to the office during office hours to find the shop shut with no reason what so ever.

When asked why we were not getting any interest in the property he said “ there’s nothing much I can do as the property doesn’t have much road side appeal” This isn’t really something you want to hear from the person whose admitting they aren’t actively trying to promote the house however would still be taking nearly 5k in commission for doing nothing.

Stay away from this estate agents , there’s loads more that are worthy of your custom and will put your needs 1st without being judgemental and bias.

We recently bought a property via Cliftons. We dealt with Paul Kingston, Anthony Briggs and Amy Whitehead. Everyone was fantastic, they gave us all the time we needed, kept us well informed and pushed things through when required. From the off they've been honest and straightforward to deal with. Highly recommended!
