We have just completed the sale of our business through Ernest Wilson and whilst the sale has been protracted that is for a variety of reasons, none attributable to Ernest Wilson.
I have been particularly impressed by how accessible the agents are, never saying “I’m in a meeting” and always responding immediately to any outstanding matter.
I was also impressed by how close they stayed to all parties as we cam closer to completion, in particular Michael Peel maintained a very close dialogue with the three sets of solicitors involved in this transaction, as well as the buyer, the seller and the landlord.

We have been dealing with Ernest Wilson for over 2 years now. They have helped us sell two businesses and move forward into another career path.
I've been reading some of the negative reviews on this page and three quarters of them are based on paying for selling their business, or paying for advertising.
Why would you expect that they'd advertise your business for nothing?
Work goes into the business advert as well as speaking with potential buyers.
It really confuses me that this is expected for free.
Our second business took over 9 months to sell. But that's just part and parcel of having a business. The right buyer eventually came along and we have now completed the sale.

Do not use this company if you value your time and money also if you don't want to go to court .Because I didn't want to deal with them and told them to cancel my contract 3 weeks before the contract ending they send me a bill for £ 6,919 and they said I have to pay it because I ended the contract early .Be careful and read the contract and Do Not Go with this company. They charge me a bill for £6,919  for a 30k business (business which I sold myself in the end and not with their customers or help.Read the contract!!!!

There is fee even if they couldn’t sell the business(advertising, management fees etc) which is unbearable.

We contacted several Business Agents in the UK when my wife and I started our process to look to invest in a business in the UK  as a springboard to help us with our exit strategy from China - having lived there for 15 years and 25 years in Asia in total.
Whilst several responded, Ernest Wilson stood out to us for taking the time and care to understand out needs and limitations as it pertained to working on this project from half way around the world.

Dealt with Emma their sales negotiator - very easy to speak with, was professional, explained everything thoroughly and quick at replying to emails/calls. Also dealt with Leanne and Martin their in house finance brokers - both were very diligent in their fact finding mission for me, gave good advice and support. Unfortunately the sale fell through on the sellers behalf but I was pleased with the service I was provided with from Ernest Wilson.

Do not instruct..first time writting a negative review. Charge a lot of hidden fees. My business up for sale for over 2 years, didn't sell. Still they feel the need to charge £3500. When asked for breakdown came back with advertising costs????. Not helpful when trying to explain situation.

Hi I Bought a shop through Ernest Wilson the staff were fantastic the sale went through without problems and any questions I had were answered would definitely recommend them a special thanks to Chere who looked after me from start to finish.

I have dealt with Ernest Wilsons several times over the years and have only ever received a friendly, speedy and professional service. If you are looking to buy or sell I would highly recommend.

Were do I start. Not updating the information as time went on not updating me not doing the work in the timescale it should have been done not advising me about something important which was left untill the last minute and should have made clear from the start not following the instructions to which they had agreed not processing my complaint and totally ignoring it on numerous occasions not keeping me informed about the progress of the work they were doing ignoring my calls and not replying to questions or phone calls, repeatedly. Even after full clear evidence was provided.

Really really poor service fron start to finish.

When we started looking for a business we signed up with an account with Ernest Wilson. They sent profiles of relevant businesses on a relevant basis by email and by post (as per my request) following a chat on the phone to get a better idea of what we were looking for.
One evening I spotted a new email from Emma and it included details of a business recently brought to market. I sent an email and it was followed up by a phone call from my business partner in the morning. An appointment was arranged for that evening and we both fell in love with the building immediately. 
Emma was fantastic from start to finish. She talked us through the whole process and kept us up to date at every stage. She was quick at responding to any enquiries by phone or email and helped us through the best (and scariest) few weeks of our lives, all the way until completion. 
We also attended the offices in Leeds to sign some paperwork. The whole team were friendly, polite and professional and it is easy to see how Emma fits in so well.
Thank you Ernest Wilson for helping us take this big step in our amazing journey! We might be back in touch sooner than you think, when we choose to expand our business ;-)

Never written a negative review in my life but this was a must. Strongly wouldn't recommend.Its not that the business which me and my wife built up sold too quickly, i asked you for the total cost and then asked if this could increase, was told no. I just wanted to know all costs prior to agreeing for you to sell for US.Came to you billing us and guess what....... more money. 

The sale went through quickly because of us and the buyer having to get on to your staff. That was a discount price  ha ha ha ha!!

However I feel as after three decades of doing business with Ernest Wilson selling millions of pounds worth of businesses, it was about time I did!
The reason I decided to do this review now, is because I am so impressed, despite challenging times in restaurant business sales, they managed to sell a substantial restaurant for me unexpectedly!
You’ll find the team dedicated, motivated, energetic, committed passionate & professional with a constant drive to sell a business!
But it doesn’t stop there!
They would ‘nurse’ the ‘done deal’ all the way to completion by being in touch with vendor & buyers as well as solicitor offering advice & guidance if necessary to all parties involved.
They also have ‘in house’ financial advisers to obtain loans!
Amazingly they do not seem just to look after the vendors but helpful & sympathetic with buyers need!
They have a deep knowledge of the market on various businesses/properties  & would advise you candidly! I recently went in to Ernest Wilson to see about buying a business I had seen but it turned out to have sold that day. On arriving I had a meeting with a lovely Lady called Emma Shaw. Emma showed me some alternatives, one in the same village that caught my eye. Due to a number of issues we had a lot of negotiating regarding this but Emma and the staff where all very accommodating and solutions were met. This has now resulted in me owning my first commercial business, thank you very much Emma for all your time, patience and help during this process. I would highly recommend any first time buyer to go in and have a chat with Emma around any new venture, no matter how big or small.

If you are unhappy in your current job, why not work for yourself. That was how a conversation started almost 5 years ago, with Stuart from Ernest Wilson. Since then I’ve never looked back. Yes, I had to put the hard work in at the beginning, but all the profits were mine at the end of the day. I had just started my business and rapidly outgrew my home desperately searching for premises with no luck.

Me and my wife dealt with her on planning to buy a business and she did it as simple as it can be but our circumstances changes after we made our deposit..thinking that we cannot get our money back, I called her and explained everything and without any hesitation on her part saying that our money can be refunded...and just after two day's, we received a letter from Ernest Wilson saying that our money has already been refunded with the direct debit receipt attached to it.

The knowledge and expertise in business sales by Mr Robert Williamson is outstanding. His understanding and accuracy in valuing businesses is something that I'm sure takes many years to master, and he certainly has. Robert is also supported by a first class team and I found that whichever member answered my call, they were well advised of the position of our sale and could easily assist me. We were kept informed throughout the entire process and were told repeatedly to call them at any time for any reason however small.

My wife and myself have run our Gym for a number of years but unfortunately had to sell it due to health issues.  We approached Ernest Wilsons & Co as were were recommended to them by our accountant who told us that they were the people to deal with business sales in the region.

One of their directors came to see us and valued the business, he was concise and professional and it was clear he had many years of experience selling businesses. He understood our business, the assets and was very knowledgeable of business generally.  We had built this business up from scratch and although I'm embarrassed to admit it we were quite nervous about the process of selling but he put our minds at rest and I was convinced that he would look after us.  I spoke again with our accountant and we instructed them to sell the business for us.

We didn't pay anything up front and they even paid for the energy certificate thing to be done with us to repay at the end so that it didn't affect our cash flow.  The business went on the market and although we weren't inundated with purchasers their was a small number of genuinely interested parties that came to view.  The girl on the sales team always rang and gave us feedback from each viewing and knowing about my wife's illness always started each call with "Is now a good time or would you prefer me to call back later" which I thought was a kind touch. The business has now gone and I'm very pleased with both the service and the price achieved.

I would definitely use again and will recommend to anyone in business looking to sell. Thanks again.
