These truly are dreadful estate agents. Signed up with them on the basis that they guaranteed all viewings would be escorted by themselves and that everybody turning up is fully vetted (These are claims made by their sales agent when she came to value the property and get us to signup). They planned a big open day, told us they have loads of buyers looking for these types of houses and at that price, claimed there would be plenty of viewings on the open day, but what we got was 1 viewing, complaining about the asking price, wanting £30k off the asking price... Rarely did they ever turn up for viewings, they never ever vetted anybody, often never even knowing the name of who they were telling just to turn up and knock on our door with very little notice (My wife is often home alone, so this was a big concern that they never bothered to address).. When somebody did turn up, it was frequently the bosses son Rupert who couldnt sell water in the desert, he certainly should not be selling homes, as incompetent would be the politest thing to publicly say. We found him to be incredibly akward and quiet, barely ever saying anything on the few occassions he turned up, and the other young girl they sent wore such high heels she could barely walk, so left viewers to show themselves around after leaving fantastic stiletto shaped holes in our oak wooden floors. After failing to sell our house or get any genuine interest at their own recommended asking price, the best they could say is "We dont know what else to do, we will just have to wait and see" to which I had to lay down a sales strategy myself for them to put into action. (Which then sold to the second subsequent viewing) Just before completion, I raised all of these failings with the owner/partner and was simply told "We havent breached any contract, so whats the problem" "We are only contracted to introduce a buyer who completes" Combine this with rarely knowing what was going on with our eventual buyer, and these folks truly are useless. We actually could have sold our house far quicker, with less hassle and for thousands less if we had done it ourselves online. Gordon Gray showed no manners, no interest in professionalism nor sales ability, yet on moving day, were happy to keep phoning me for the keys whilst busy loading a lorry, reminding me that "The house is not yours anymore, you need to get out" (This was at midday with lorry half loaded)...
