I recently came across an ad on Gumtree and decided to reach out. After providing my number, I received a call to schedule an appointment for last Monday. Upon arriving at the office, I was asked to fill out a form, only to then be left waiting without any explanation. The lack of communication and professionalism was disappointing. Additionally, witnessing another individual being ignored when requesting their deposit back was concerning. “Started this month and good process so far” >
the above statement was my review when I was made to leave a review the day I was picking up the keys to the property.
I wish I could go back in that moment, and not signed the agreement. I signed for 6-month contract and paid 4 months in advance rent payments. Having been in the property for 2 months, I’ve requested to end the agreement and to my shock I was offered 1 payment off (from the 6 contract payments) and to vacate the property within the week (so having lived in the property for 2.5 months only) - absolutely disgusted by that offer.
The reason for me requesting to leave the property is unfit living conditions - boiler problems causing no heating and no hot water. Out of my 1st 3 months, I’ve had maybe 30 days of problem free living. Apart from that, every 2/3 days the boiler becomes an issue. As of right now, the boiler is not working.
I have been trying to get an engineer to visit since 21 June and today is 28 July - still now luck.
On top of it, there are other issues such as no bedroom locks, no bathroom locks and again I’m not allowed to do any of this without their permission. It’s been 3 months like this and I still have to complete the 6-month contract with them.
I am looking for tenant support and council complain options and preparing for formal complaint to the local council.
Cannot honestly recommend to anyone after these experiences.... Read more
