Awful customer service, probably the worst I have ever received in my life. My partner and I have been trying to let a property. As our job situation is not best suitable for the property my partner called and spoke with a lady to ask about checking with the property owner and we were told they would phone us back. I also spoke to the same lady the same day on the phone to let her know we could offer upfront rent. Both conversations she seemed like she has an attitude for some reason it was very rushed and abrupt. Needless to say we were never called back, we sent Emails, and left answer phone messages and called numerous times. Even used the ‘oh she’s on the phone right now but will call your back’ … never did. You need to understand people do not have a lifetime to find a new place to let and I really hope the property owners know you treat people like this. Next time just tell people you do not want them to rent from you and they will go away. It is not complicated. Would have given one star but the another woman who showed us around and finally answered my call to tell me what was going on was so lovely I could not bring myself to do it. We just sold our house and bought the next one through Oliver James in Witney, and cannot recommend them highly enough. It was refreshing to work with two genuinely down to earth but professional agents such as George and Robin, who are fantastically supported by their team. The path to exchange and completion is not often smooth but the team ensured it was navigated with prompt service, humour and a genuine desire to help. (Witney branch) 3 viewings in 8 months. Leaving the property vacant and me without rent for 6 months. Asking for 75% increase in commission if we had a 2nd agent "working for us". Switched estate agents and had 6 viewings in their 1st month even before internet listing as it is a good property.... Read more

I cannot rate Oliver James highly enough as a very high quality local estate agent. We sold our central Witney chraracter property last year (2014). I would be happy to recommend Oliver James as an estate agent that gives you the kind of personal customer service that you will not get from the large national chain of Agents. So let me get into some specifics: - Communication was excellent and we experienced no delays in getting the information we needed - The quality of marketing (photos, web, window) was excellent, I couldn't ask for more - All of the staff are very friendly and happy to talk to you at any time I am a sales director by profession so know a lot about selling, hence I don't make these remarks lightly. Oliver James has a good reputation, but are let down by poor service to customers. I had a bad time when I bought through them 3 years ago - failure to produce the front door key. They eventually handed it over a year later, when I went to the office on unrelated business. But this is nothing compared to their refusal to say sorry about this. Three years down the line I reminded them of this failure, when considering doing future business with them. All I got was bluster and failure to say sorry. If anybody reads this from the office, I hope they will take on board the importance of saying " I am sorry you were not happy with our service. We will try our best to never make the same mistake again." I will sell my through another agent for the time being.... Read more
