We purchased our new house through Hursts and had a mixed experience. On the one hand it was always easy to get hold of them and they got back to us with answers to any queries we had quickly. We also used the solicitor they recommended to us for both our sale and purchase and we were very impressed with the service we received.
However, on the other the hand, we found the attitude of the particular agent we dealt with mostly to be bordering on aggressive.
The agent constantly insinuated that any delays we encountered - to be fair there weren't many - were due to something going on at our end of the chain. In fact one of the delays was due to the amount of time it took for the vendor/vendor's conveyancer of our new house to provide a signature.
On completion day, after a long wait for confirmation that monies had been exchange and keys could finally be handed over, we eventually went to Hursts' office to see if they knew what was going on and the agent greeted us with a smile and congratulations without realising that completion hadn't actually happened. Once we explained the agent quickly got on to the appropriate solicitor and the matter was resolved fairly quickly.
Now 2 weeks after moving into our new home, we have received an offer from Hursts, via a well known house comparison company, to give us an appraisal and valuation of the property we have just sold.
We fully appreciate that each agent is working on behalf on their client, usually the vendor, but our experience with Hursts only earned a 3 star rating.... Read more
