Thomas Merrifield Estate Agents have 8 branches and they mainly list properties in OX14, OX26, OX11, OX5, OX2, OX10, OX12 and OX28. Over the last 6 months, they've listed 575 properties, with an average time to sale of 21 weeks.
From a landlord's point of view, absolute nightmare to deal with. Very poor comms, went with their fully managed option, but got billed for work that was done on someone else's property very lucky we spotted it, lots of info didn't get passed on from the tenant, on final inventory the tenant was left with their own set of keys so they could return to collect stuff days later but we were never told about this arrangement so you can imagine our surprise when someone just let themselves in a week later. Carpet cleaning at end of tenancy was arranged by T.M. but then they changed the date (without telling us) meaning it clashed with a sale viewing which was incredibly embarrassing. It's not that any of these mistakes are made, it's that they don't see it as any big deal. There are no apologies, leaving us feeling that they simply don't care about their landlords.
I can safely say I won't be dealing with Thomas Merrifield again.
They are not good at all tried to sell through them took years got nowhere messed us about four years called it all off in the end because it didn't stack up financially ummmbecause
I had used Thomas Merrifield previously and the great service meant that I used them again. You get an honest valuation and not inflated to get your business or too low to get a quick sale. Excellent communication and once again I am happy with their service.
Agents worked hard to sell my house and did a really good job of communicating with me to keep me in the loop at all times.
If you want razzamataz and big promises then Thomas Merrifield possibly aren't for you. If you want calm, professional advice, with excellent judgement from experts with many years experience in the local market, then I would give them a call.
We have used Thomas Merrifield many times for both buying and selling and have always been more than happy with the service from Nick and the team. We have in fact known Nick since he and Simon Merrifield worked for Adkins (which is a long time ago!), so his experience of the local market is second to none. Would thoroughly recommend them.
Not happy with the service provided, was quick enough to take the flat on the market but went very quiet after that, yes i do get that market is up and down at present time but i do not feel confident in the services.
Always had to call to get review after the few viewings we had. I ain't the only one saying so, they might be number one once upon time in kidlington market but i think that has gone.
I purchased my first property through Thomas Merrifield. David was kind, professional and approachable from the off. I told him he was far too nice to be an estate agent! He worked for both buyer and seller and I felt my experience was important to him. I was kept updated regularly and he always called and emailed me when he said he would. No matter which member of staff I spoke to each were professional and delivered great customer service. My solicitor also said Thomas Merrifield were a pleasure to work with, which spoke volumes considering how many estate agents a conveyancing department work with. I would definitely use Thomas Merrifield in the future should the opportunity arise.
We had a really positive experience with Thomas Merrifield with our recent house purchase in Wallingford. We viewed our house on a Saturday and were able to speak directly with the Director to make an offer. Even though it was a Saturday afternoon, he was responsive and acted in the best interest of both the Seller and the Buyer and we quickly reached an agreement. I was in regular contact with the Director during the conveyancing process and he was always very helpful and replied to emails quickly and this allowed the process to progress smoothly and without delay (we exchanged contracts within 4 weeks!). We felt like we were in good hands with Thomas Merrifield - they know the industry and the market well. We know Estate Agents receive a lot of negative attention, and the current home buying and selling process in England is stressful - but we count ourselves lucky for having bought a house listed by Thomas Merrifield.
Received nothing short of excellent service and support from the team at TM Grove. Huge thank you to Susan who made our time with TM a memorable one, finding us the perfect home when it seemed we had nowhere to turn. Would highly recommend.
Andy Gribben and the team (Tonya and Jack in my experience) were all professional, likeable and courteous. Purchasing a house was never going to be straightforward, but this team went above and beyond to ensure that the transaction went through in a timely manner and helped to resolve issues (not of their making) in a balanced way. I would thoroughly recommend using them as a trustable genuine agent. Many thanks!
I met with a number of agents in Witney, and Thomas Merrifield gave the most realistic evaluation (evaluations from other agents were much higher, unrealistically so). My main contact, Philip, was professional and someone you could trust to negotiate on your behalf. Philip helpfully gave time to come to the house act as a witness to the signing of contract of sale (twice) as we couldn't get another witness due to Covid-19.
The only complaint I would have, and it is a small one, is that communication could be more regular; selling a home is stressful, and it often feels like nothing is happening, even when it is, so regular communication (even it if it is that there has been no progress) is important. You are often cut out of communications between agent and conveyancer. However, this seems to be the case with most agents. It would be useful if there was an account you could sign in to and check what has been happening.
But that is a minor quibble. I would certainly recommend using Thomas Merrifield in Witney.
