Time after time Winkworth delivered meaningful viewings whereas the others sounded professional and convincing but achieved no tangible result. Eventually we went sole agent with Winkworth and they nurtured a transaction through numerous unpredictable impediments with expert skill. If you are looking for an agent who is totally committed these are the guys!
From the moment I first picked up the phone to discuss the house we ended up buying, John was transparent and easy to deal with. I sold my house through Winkworth - at the time it was a choice between them and one other agent, and I wish I'd chosen differently. If you want an agent who is going to proactively progress your house sale - this in not the company for you.
The transaction dragged on for months without an explanation - my buyer held up the entire chain, and I would question what due diligence Winkworth undertook when putting his offer to me. I wasn't aware, for example, that he was borrowing from an unregulated lender, who refused to send funds on completion day, breaching the contract and risking me thousands of pounds in costs to the person I was buying from.
Several months in, when nothing was happening, I called Michael to ask him why there were so many delays. He had no real information, and asked me what I wanted him to do. When I suggested several simple things he could do (call the buyer's solicitor, call the lender's solicitor etc), he said "Thank you for telling me how to do my job". I found this entirely unprofessional, and not what I would expect from someone who told me he had been doing the job for decades.
A week later, after my buyer failed to complete, Michael hung up on the agent for my seller. Given that I was in breach of contract to the seller at the time, I again found this completely unprofessional and unhelpful. I was working hard to maintain a good relationship with the seller to limit the damages that they might seek from me.
This was a simple residential transaction, but I was given the run around for months. It was very possibly the most stressful experience of my life, and Winkworth did nothing to mitigate it. I would honestly have been better off selling through an online only agent - Winkworth added no value to the process, and arguably put the whole thing in jeopardy by failing to do due diligence.
Dealt with our letting professionally and with no fuss. Property was marketed quickly with a good quality brochure. New tenants identified and referenced to a good standard.

This is the second year I have used Winkworth to find a tenant for my property. The team are communicative, proactive and very hard working. They found a new tenant quickly and I would certainly recommend them to all landlords.
Rude staff, highly passive aggressive in nature and they take an age to fix anything. It took a year for a window to be fixed and two years for a leaking front door. They use a one man band to fix everything and he does a good job but is stretched far too thin. Many a job was started only for myself to finish as they 'ran out of time'. Several of the light fittings never worked and we were promised they would be fixed, which they were, three days after we moved out. We were charged over £400 to paint a door when moving out, the same door brand new in b&q is £250. They had a five star rating when we rented three years ago, evidently things are slipping...
Chris, Austin and co were very professional but friendly! Our mother’s house was on the market just after restrictions were listed and the potential buyers sent were all legitimate - no time wasters! Chris was able to give me the name of a cleaning company and house clearance co and they turned out to be top class, polite and efficient.
We would like to praise Chris, Carly, Austin and the team for their dedicated hard work and professionalism in dealing with our house sale.
A house move is well known to be one of life's most stressful experiences but Chris and the team were always on hand to deal with queries and find out information and get back to us as quickly as they could - even through the burden of Coronavirus we were always kept updated of developments.
