Terrible company. Money grabbers. They do little in exchange for what they get and the seller seems to do most of the work. I asked that people viewing my property removed their shoes as I have cream coloured carpets. This didn't seem unreasonable to me considering you have to put covers on your shoes when viewing a new build. I was made to feel my request was unreasonable. Overall, I'm afraid there's nothing really positive I can say about my experience with them.

We were renting a property managed by Moon and Co until February this year. During the stay we had no issues but we are still waiting to receive a quote for deductions on our deposit despite having left the property for nearly 2 months. This appears to be a loophole in the deposit protection schemes - where the agent refrains from providing a quote for deductions, your request to receive your deposit is stalled indefinitely unless you pursue a legal route.
This is a lot of money that we really need released and we are now not receiving responses to our emails. Our next resort is unfortunately a statutory declaration.
Jon Bentham is supposed to be managing this process but there appears to be little incentive for the agent to provide a quote for deductions in a timely manner. Had I known this we would have submitted a statutory declaration as soon as possible.
I see based on another review that this has happened for other tenants. I would advise anyone reading this who is a tenant to arrange a statutory declaration on completion of your tenancy to minimise delays in returning your deposit. It is unfortunate that we are being forced to pursue a legal route but at this stage there are no other options.

Where do I begin!!
At first when we found the property, Moon staff were helpful, quick and efficient. However upon leaving it has been one epic disaster after another.
We are now over 3 months after vacating and STILL having issues with getting our bond returned, despite countless emails and calls. Some of which have failed responses and appointments not kept on their end.
Despite having gone through the list of requirements made by Moon to return our bond, including painting the entire internal of the property and cleaning throughout, we have been charged over £1100 pounds for cleaning and gardening. After the prolonged time and missed communication, dragging on and on over the festive period we have decided that we just want our money back so have settled in the ridiculous reduced amount.
The one issue being the removal of an item left in the shed at the property - arranged with Moon to be collected today, some 55min drive from our new location. Only to arrive and find access locked, meaning that another time needs to be arranged and STILL we are no closer to the reduced amount of our bond, over 3 months and countless communications later.
A shame that this unnecessary stress has been added, but to then have to take our two disabled children on a two hour car journey for nothing despite arrangements being made is seriously unprofessional and annoying on Moon’s part.
Highly disappointed at this stage. Who knows when if ever, we will get our bond returned to us.

Have been renting with them for two years. Have not maintained the property or addressed the mold issues even though we have reported these repeatedly to maintenance and even the lettings manager. They have even supported the landlords trying to raise the rent when they know that we are living with black mold problems. Really dreadful lettings agency, I would advise to stay away. Currently in the process of reporting them and landlords to environmental health as property is unliveable. If anyone else reading this is having similar issues (I know our neighbours are) I suggest you report them too.

Few things about them. They are very brief. When you enquire about a rental.. They turn it the other way. They want to know if you have children.. And a pet. They want to know if you are 2 professionals with top incomes.
If you are pro family, or had a desperate need for a pet since lockdowns. Or if you wife can't work because of cancer.. And you're doing overtime to make her happy.. Even if the income is 4 times the rent. Simple message.. Look elsewhere. I know some of these questions are normal with letting agents. But this particularly agency is extra specialised in being ruthless, short, rude and selfish.
If you're a landlord please shun them. Go find us, we are excellent tenants! These letting agents will feed you with horror stories about tenants and their pets and kids. They'll share their disdain for single income households. They will not consider the most important reference history until last!

Ps. I've read your response- thanks for that. I know its not the fault of you entirely. The lockdowns and economic downturn has fiddled with the supply and demand. Its also accelerated the selfish trend in people/ businesses generally.
But to put it straight. We contacted you around 4 of your properties over the last 16 months- we wanted more information and were hit by a wall. You asked "first... may i know more about you". Your questions on each occasion were around children. Then came pets. Finally around whether we were both healthy fully paid professionals.
The impression left is that children and families have lost favour among the masses... and single stay at home housewives a big no no.. even if they have cancer. Its a given that nearly all of your rentals do not allow tenants with pets even if the ad does not stipulate that. In construction I meet many first time landlords and they are entirely pre-disposed to tenants with pets and children. Unfortunately so many are also open to suggestion from letting agents.
You would do well to counsel the landlords we are pro family here-- and work within the UK law. The Fair Housing Act of 1968 made it illegal for landlords to discriminate against prospective tenants with children under the age of 18. You question might break the law. Furthermore you tell them that they work within the Model Tenancy Agreement (2021 provision) established by Her Majesty's Government. Tell them they we will put greater priority into referencing and less on the fact the tenant wants to do the "terrible risk" of making their house into a home for them. This is win win-- as referenced tenants who are responsible- truly responsible and loving (eg in strong martial relationships and responsible for children- and a pet) are highly unlikely to scam them, destroy their property and sublet it to gangs. Individuals who fit your current criteria are far far more likely to be gang associated, sub lett-ers, thieves, irresponsible and the rest.
I hope you don't respond defensively- and take what i say and review your practices. I know its not just my concern as we are very much within the community here in Chepstow.

There were time restrictions on the exchange of contracts but Alison from Moon & Co chased all parties and managed to get it all through and we exchanged contracts on time.

Moon were great at the obtaining an initial sales agreement. It was not such a good sales process - a combination of bad lawyers employed by both buyer and seller was not helped by limited engagement from the moon sales progression team that did not seem to do anything until it was almost too late. I feel it took far too much chasing from me given theres a fee earned by them at the end. So in short good at getting a sale but play close attention to the process to make sure it goes through at an appropriate pace

From the initial issues with not being included in the Sales process, to finding that the property was left unsecured after a sales visit, to the next visit being concluded with lights left on.
Finally, after the sale seemed to stall, five calls were made over 2 months asking for updates and each time a call back was promised but none came, until the exchange was agreed, and then the call was just to ensure keys were handed in.
Currently selling another property and it will not be with Moons.

A first class service from start to finish. A common sense approach to valuation and house marketed in swift fashion.
The staff were all exceptional, making me feel that nothing was too problematic; no
matter how big or small. The staff never failed on a call back and neither did they leave me waiting at the most stressful points. I sold an average priced house but I was treated like my house was worth an enormous amount in commission. I had a horrible process which took over a year to complete but they stuck with it and took away all the pressures and stress. Moon and Co. are without a doubt the best I’ve ever used; by a distance.

The pictures they took were great and even did a video tour which helped us

In particular Marilyn was fantastic throughout the process and would regularly chase solicitors and would give me a call at the end of each week to reassure me things were going through as they should be. After trying to find a flat to rent in Bristol, I was so pleased to shift my search to Chepstow, and make contact with Moon & Co. They were very flexible and responsive, and although my circumstances were not typical, they pulled out all the stops to make sure I got the perfect flat! Their customer service is the best- friendly and professional. I can't recommend them too highly.

Very friendly staff who keep you updated. Straightforward and easy to talk to. The only issue we had was the use of homelet as the referencing company, they do their job but their sales teams hound you and once you remove your number from one department they pass it to another department. But this isn't a reflection of moon and co, just the referencing company.

Have been blown away by Moon & Co. We chose to swap across to them from a different agent based on our excellent experience with Sam and Bridget when viewing houses. So grateful we made the move. Every step has been highly professional and we have truly felt supported every step of the way, from Peter marketing the property brilliantly, to various members of the team doing the viewings. They sold our home quickly and the support since by Alison has been incredible. Nothing is too much trouble when chasing the chain. Booked a viewing with Moon & Co. Arrived at the property and waited for around 20 minutes for the agent to arrive, tried ringing the office to see what the situation was and nobody answered. No communication from them at all to say they were late or not available. Terrible service.

My wife and I recently sold our house through Moon & Co and are just waiting for a date to complete. Throughout the whole process M&C have been wonderful and I really cannot fault them with any aspect of their service. They got us the asking price within a week of our house going on the market, despite all the additional problems you can imagine they would have had dealing with Covid-19 restrictions. Since then we have had regular contact with the admin team to arrange surveys etc and each time they call I get a very friendly person on the other end of the phone. In particular Alison has been a delight to chat with.
We are so pleased that we chose Moon and Co and I've already been recommending them to people looking for a pleasant and efficient estate agency.

Absolutely Disgusted with the agency after viewing two properties and calling to inform of our interest on two different accessions only to be told that the agency would call us to confirm our details and go from there on both accounts we waited and received no further phone call. When we rang back no apologies where given and they informed us that people who are currently renting properties from the agency have first come first serve bases. So both times we wasted our time at no point did they inform us whilst visiting the properties that if someone who has used them in the past would be given priority. It’s my opinion that the company our shoddy and poorly managed.

One of the worst letting agencies what i was deal with, 0 knowledge about how to interact with customers, disrespectful on the phone, makes you to feel like nobody, not seriousness, I was looking to do an appointments to view few houses, done the online request for appointments, nobody call me back, i was told also a 2 bed house (2 double bedrooms) is not suitable for 2 persons ( me and my brother) for other property they told me they will call me back, after when they will check if we can view that property, no call back !!!! One week later I've done a list with 9 appointments so plan to go on Bristol to chose a property to rent, and I say to give a shot again for one of the house what I was applying the week before with no replay back from the agency, and today told me is a waiting list now for this property, and if till thursday will still be available then they can contact me, so the "nice" lady, I think Claire is her name , when I told her to remove my details for them data base she not waiting for me what i have to say and she hang up....disrespectful, disappointed and I will say also because my nationality.

Moon & Co were fab the whole way through our sale and purchase. They managed my insatiable desire to be updated constantly and nothing was too much of an ask.
Ian showed us around many properties and was great to deal with. Likewise, Sam was great at helping us sort the relevant contacts for our purchase.
The biggest thanks needs to go to Alison who was part agony aunt, part superstar! She managed my frustrations and concerns (not at Moon & Co) during the period of sale & purchase very well and is a huge asset to the firm.
I had been considering using an online agent before we got the ball rolling but am very pleased that we chose Moon & Co, it was worth every penny!

I have rented 2 properties from moon each time they have not sorted out any problems we have had and do not care when I complain I have just turned up for a viewing on another property I was the first one to book a viewing nobody turned up I rang them and they have no record of the viewing now there are loads of people In the queue so I won't be getting it very unprofessional will not be using them again for anything.

Rented for 3 years...no maintenance done while there...when asked for repairs had to wait and having to keep asking before anything got done...asked for bushes to be cut..never happened...got charge £84 for check out fees !! Just making excuses to grab more £££ out of us...paid rent on due time every month...looked after the house..garden.but all they want is cash. ..hope I never have to deal with them again! ! Good luck to the next tenant..hope nothing goes wrong for you cause nothing going to happen!

My wife and I rented a property through Moon & Co for approaching 3 years. The level of service provided by them in this time can only be described as unprofessional and lacking in any substance. No matter how many times you call them they do not keep records of conversations, you often have to ring back 3 or 4 times just to get an answer to what should be a straight forward question.
As for the maintenance people they use, the quality of the work is appalling and often unsafe. We had flooring laid in the kitchen and hallway which had to be re-laid 3 times due to scuff marks and bobbling. The garden path had crumbled which despite our many emails and telephone calls was only repaired after we vacated the property. It was of such a dangerous standard my wife had a nasty fall whilst carrying our baby.
They try to charge you for everything, whether it be to renew the contract, which was just a cut and paste job and even charge a £72 checkout fee.
Overall I would not recommend anyone use these people unless you are not of sound mind. They are cowboys.
