We firstly rented through Resferns when we moved to Ottery about 5 years ago. They provided an excellent professional service, with a friendly personal touch and were willing to always go that extra mile for you (nothing was too much trouble). They also sold our house to us after we moved out of the rental , and again it was a faultless service. Definitely 5 stars for me.
Redferns use some very debatable tactics to make it look like they have a stronghold in the property market. Houses that have been sold subject to contract are advertised as being available. When questioned about this we were told they only mark as sold once contracts have been exchanged (no point in marking it as sstc once contacts have been exchanged). Also they advised that many sales fall through, hence their reluctance to mark as sold. But no one took our details as being interested in those properties so we would never know if they did become reavailable. This happened to at least 5 properties we expressed an interest in. Clueless....
Friendly and supportive staff fronted by Edward Tallack always kept me fully informed and confident that they would find a buyer who would appreciate and enjoy my home as much as I did. Thank you Savills.

Efficient when you’re moving in to one of their rented properties, I’ll give them one star for that. When you’re moving out however, it’s the total opposite.
-We had no reply when we submitted our notice to leave except an automated email to advise that another department would be in touch. They never got in touch.
-Your Move didn’t inform our poor landlord that we were moving out, he found out from us just over a week before we vacated the property. That made for a very awkward conversation and neither of us should have been put in that position.
-They arranged several viewings and didn’t inform us until the day that they were happening - despite the fact that legally they are required to provide a minimum of 24 hours notice. When I queried this on the phone, I was nonchalantly advised that another member of staff ‘should’ have let us know. The woman I spoke to could not have sounded like she cared less if she’d tried and provided no apology.
-We handed in the keys over two weeks ago and new tenants have moved into the property. Despite this, we are yet to hear anything about receiving our deposit back, which is over a thousand pounds. We emailed them to chase it and was told another department would be in touch. SUPRISE, they haven’t been in touch and we still don’t have our deposit. It’s inexcusable.
I strongly do not recommend using Your Move, they are absolutely awful.
As an overseas landlord I cannot express my thanks to Ian and Penny for the fantastic rental management of my property. I may live 10,000 miles away, but with regular communication and updates from them I am very comfortable with their service. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking for a rental manager. Their professionalism and can do attitude is a breath of fresh of air, and they always do what they say they will do. They found great tenants very qucikly and the past years; rental has gone very smoothly, thanks to them.
This letting agents are rediculously unprofessional and incompetent. And I must say Dishonest. I would not recommend them to anyone. When we moved into are property we had to amend the inventory a lot as it was so out off date, there where lots of things missing from the house and lots wrong. We took an amended copy and photographs to lans office in Exeter for a meeting which we had ask for. And also to collect smoke directer.when it come to use needing a copy of the photographs back as we had unfortunately lost are copy, and to prove that things were missing etc. We were first told by lan and his staff that they had lost them in there office move. Then lan changed his story and said he could not remember us ever given him the photographs or amended inventory. Luckily we still had are copy of that. And help use in are fite for are £2,700 deposit.
