Thank you Romans! I highly recommend using this letting agency. They are extremely responsive, professional and always helpful. I have been dealing with Hannah who is an absolute delight. Speaking both on the phone and over email, she is able to answer all of my questions and has been quick to organise viewings. Hannah has made finding a new place a great deal easier by noting our requirements of a property and informing us of any that are soon to be coming on the market. Shockingly unprofessional service from Roman's so far. Having completed a 12 month tenancy, at the end of which the 1 bed flat was cleaned thoroughly and left cleaner than the start of the tenancy. The checkout report confirmed this, stating it was cleaned to a "high standard and would not need cleaning before being re-let". However, Romans immediately paid £420 to their favoured cleaning agency Abode Cleaning Services and are now claiming those costs back from the deposit. At £20 per hour that is over 10 hours work for 2 people - to clean a small one bed flat that was already cleaned! Abode Cleaning Services does not have a website and operates from a mobile phone. Currently they are dragging their feet over this, so far it has been over 3 weeks, even though their own contract and the Tenancy Deposit Scheme states the entire process should take 10 days at most. There are many more complaints, having tried to call the agent who is dealing with this tenancy 5 times over the last 2 weeks, the responses have been "In a meeting", "Out of the office", "Out of the office", "No one of that name works here" and again "In a meeting". No calls have been returned.... Read more

We had a really bad experience with Romans this year. The house we rented was not clean when we moved in with various problems and lots of rubbish left from the previous tenants. The bins were full and there were maggots in the food bins. It took almost the whole year to have the rubbish removed and certain broken things such as faulty kitchen drawers were never fixed. The boiler broke in the winter and took a long time to be fixed. At the end of the tenancy we did not receive our full deposit due to dust and lime scale that was there when we moved in and damaged items that were previously damaged and we had asked to be fixed at the start of the year. Romans also demanded a ridiculous amount of personal data from our selves and our guarantors which is definitely not necessary to rent a property.... Read more

The worst letting agents I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Avoid at all costs. They are not even worthy of a single star. My main critique is their complete lack of support to students. We had a non-functional boiler for 2 months, through December and January, because they didn't bother to make it a priority. We could see our breath inside the house at all times, most of us had to leave the house for the time being. Not only that, but offering the bare minimal help (if any) for other issues such as previous tenants leaving mountains of rubbish (took them 8 months to remove it) and taking a chunk of our deposit for "damage" that we reported upon arrival (which they must have failed to document). They also ask for a ridiculous amount of data on you to rent accommodation (far more than other letting agents). Exploitative behaviour during the housing shortage. I have a shopping list worth of smaller reasons they have been terrible, alas I hope you get the point by now. Ideally rent a home NOT under Romans, and if you have no other choice try to establish contact with the landlord directly (if they consent).... Read more
