Great food and drink at reasonable prices. Staff very helpful and friendly. If you're going to Parkgate, I would highly recommend this pub.

Went for a carvery today at the old quay Parkgate meal was amazing plus staff were good. Kate was looking after us she was great and made us feel welcome we are going back again i all would like the thank Kate plus the rest of the staff. All so helpful

The customer service was perfect and always is. The food was fantastic across the board (2 x carvery, 2 x pizza, 4 drinks). The staff here always remember us and that kind of customer care goes a long way. I recently broke my ankle and the staff couldn't do enough to help me. They carried my food for me and helped get what I wanted. We are frequent customers because of how great this place is!

Not many people leave positive reviews as they usually leave them after a bad experience.
However with this gem of an establishment nestled in a beautiful part of the Wirral then what’s not to love !
Great food served every single visit and staff that are courteous and conscientious no matter how busy they are.
Big mention to Ben on providing great service on our last visit and also to George on this visit for being funny and welcoming.
Would definitely recommend ????????????????????

Pleasant staff and great value carvery. The pub could with a refurb, but its comfortable enough.
The views are lovely from the glass fronted area that overlooks the outside seating.
Make sure you remember to enter your car reg into the tablet on the bar or you will get a nasty shock in the post! The car park is pay and display unless you are using this pub and register your vehicle details.

Love it here. Been a few times. Its really welcoming and homely. Staff are professional and polite.
Place always seems quiet, which is nice. But can't be good for business, so I urge you to go.
Food is reasonably priced and all seems well cooked and very tasty.
It's not a Hungary horse but certainly not expensive for the quality of the food.
It's set in a lovely place and seems very family friendly.
Would highly recommend.

My partner and I decided to call in last night at roughly 7pm. Some local friends of ours had told us about the amazing carvery and attentive team and they were right. We hadn’t thought on and prebooked a table however upon our arrival we were greeted by a shorter lady with light brown hair, (I think her name was Lindsey but I can not be sure) who went out of her way to find us a table. What an asset to you this lady is, completely put me at ease given all current situations, she showed us to our table and then thoroughly explained how everything worked. I had a few different questions and nothing at all seemed to much for her. The pub felt very busy however VERY safe. I know there aren’t really restrictions anymore but here I felt comfortable, I am still nervous with going out but the lady helped put all of that to bay and I was able to completely relax and enjoy some much needed time with my partner. The staff as whole were also very good but this lady is a credit to the team and deserves the recognition for it. We most certainly will be returning.

Kim the manager Mandy and Beth plus the rest of the staff were so helpful and made us very welcome. The carvery was delicious and the beef was so tender. We sat outside and the views over the estuary were tremendous. We shall definitely come again.

Just had an all you can eat breakfast which was a great experience. Staff were friendly, food was fantastic and all for less than five pounds. Can't believe I was the only person in there. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed, the staff were very nice but slow to clear away. I can accept that in these troubled times but what I find difficult to accept was the poor quality of the carvery. It seemed obvious that the food had been out since opening time and when we arrived at around 4.30 , it had seen better days. It was dry and the beef was full of fat. The roast were burnt to a crisp, which is the way I like them ,but really not acceptable. I know times a very difficult but a simpler menu cooked well would have been a much better choice. On a positive note the only way is up, sorry just not with my custom.

What a lovely place to visit at Parkgate, Neston. The staff were all amazing and helpful couldn't do enough. We had a lovely and tasty carvery on Monday with some of our family. Really good value for money and would highly recommend this place to anyone. Yum!!

Towards the bottom end of what to expect from M&B this wasn't the first of this brand that we have been to but will be our last. The staff were fantastic very helpful and the service was quick. The food and drinks on offer was as expected, sadly this brand just isn't for me. Good for a quick stop if your after a quick meal and not too bothered about quality.

Top! We booked a table beforehand, which I would also recommend. You enter through one door and exit through another. They still have the full menu, plenty of staff to help and to order your food and drinks (they want to try and lessen customers walking around, I think). We had the carvery to ourselves! The Chef served us whatever we wanted. The food was hot. We would visit again.

Absolutely loved my dinner here (17/08/20). I've been a few time with the kids but thought we'd try yesterday and we wasn't disappointed the staff where amazing and it was very clean and tidy and the food was amazing. A massive thank you to the young chef who was carving the meat I have a very picky 9 year old and he made such an effort in helping her choose what to eat she went back for seconds but he'd already gone on his lunch but thank you for your help.

Difficult to review somewhere properly at the moment because of all of the changes due to Covid-19. Friendly & helpful staff & a good sized car park. Good menu, but the waiting time for food was too long. Food was good - but not great. Prices are reasonable & portion size is average. Was crowded (because of the eat out to help out scheme), so social distancing was out of the window.

Good sized car park which gives you 4 hours parking free if you use the pub. The pub is a good size and has a carvery, does pizzas and burgers and does daily specials. Food was good quality and well priced. It's located in a lovely area with views across the estuary. Lovely place to walk around.

Breakfast is amazing, I wish the mushrooms were included, but hey, they're not too expensive as an extra.
This is our goto place for a carvery, never been disappointed. Always a good selection of meats, lots of fresh vegetables, mash, roasties and the cauliflower cheese. Is delicious. You can also have chips and salad (but why would you? - surely not with a carvery, but each to their own).
Their main menu has a decent choice too, including lovely pizzas. Again with access to the salad bar (yum, this time).
You can add from a small selection of desserts too for £2 when you order your meal, I usually get the sponge with custard, my wife gets the bottomless ice-cream and our daughter gets the apple pie.
The staff are lovely and helpful.
Reasonably priced.
Highly recommend. ????????

It's always chaos for a table. Parking charge/reclaim is annoying. Tables always dirty from previous customers. Guy serving threw my ticket away and gave me a small after I paid for a large. Then argued with me in the middle of a big queue when I challenged him on it. Customer service ZERO.

Had breakfast here the other day and tbh there's a lot of room for improvement in the food. The bacon could be better but more than that the hash browns were horrible and the fried bread even worse. Horrible, greasy and sickly taste to them. Need to improve your breakfasts guys.

Recently refurbished the decor is tasteful. Service was pleasant and the food was good. The meat was very thinly sliced although tasty. Reasonably priced though. Don't know exactly but 2 of us had a standard size carvery plus drinks and one ice cream, which is refillable, £19.

This is the second time we have eaten here and come away disappointed. This pub used to be famous for it's amazing carvery but it's a joke now. Thin slivers of meat, mostly fat and gristle, rock solid Yorkshire puddings, and a staff that couldn't care less (we stood at the empty bar for 20 minutes waiting to order).
We won't be giving it another go for a good long while.

Been going to this place for quite a long time but after going on the 25th March we found that you had to register your bank card to use the car park, we parked on the road, the chef didn't seem bothered and the food was cold so after giving our custom over many years we definitely will not be going again. I wouldn't recommend.

My son and his girlfriend called in to this lovely pub, great location, enjoyed a nice meal, however failed to observe the parking notices and have just received a £50 fine through the post. It has put them off coming to the Old Quay again. It is an error I am sure many will make.

We had a delicious vegetarian meal here, spinach & ricotta pasta shells & garlic bread and couldn't fault it and would highly recommend. Very helpful staff, fast service and great value for money. Will be booking again soon. Thanks

Nice pub with charming view and decent breakfast buffet.
I went during breakfast where they were serving a breakfast, and it was cracking value for money.
Unlimited toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, fried bread, beans, teas and coffee among other things.
The place has a nice pub atmosphere with large windows along one side, which gives a great view.
Note that the parking is pay and display, but you get your money back as they validate parking if you spend money there.

An old establishment refurbished under new management with a large variety of choice. The staff are very helpful with nothing being to much trouble. The building is on the edge of the Parkgate shore line over looking the Welsh shoreline.

Not great my mum ordered a carvery last Friday evening. Cold food served on cold plate rock hard Yorkshire pudding. Mum didn't eat anymore of it. Manager was polite about it and refunded it without question. I had the double hot burger which was good. Which redeemed score a little.

This is a place for quick service and low prices. The carvery is very good value but vegetables always lukewarm. Other dishes are individually prepared so more likely to be hot. Draught beer is variable quality, sometimes OK, but not always good. Last time I was there all pumps had Doom Bar on them.

Visited here on Remembrance Sunday with my wife.Geoff the manager is very friendly towards customers and he wants customers to return to the Old Quay.The enthusiasm from the manager rubs off on the staff as the staff are friendly and welcoming. Sunday dinner is a must.Highly recommended.

Cheap and cheerful food.
The carvery is always up to a decent standard and the pizzas are freshly baked and prepared.
It's cheap, the staff are nice and you have the option of sitting outside to eat - considering the view that's on offer, it's a real selling point of this place.

Reasonable Carvery, only two meats though (gammon and beef) turkey was going to be an hour! Veg not bad but cauliflower was a bit mushy. They have Doom Bar on draught. Also have a pizza and salad service. Would have been 3.5 if it was available!

I've been to the Old Quay a few times with friends and family.
We have always recieved a warm welcome from staff they are friendly and very attentive.
We have had the Sunday carvery which I must say is a great price and was a great meal my mum really enjoyed her afternoon here .
When I went with the family there were 7 of us we had the starter platters which I thought was good value for everything we had then the main meal which ranged from the Stetson burger to a lovely chicken pizza everyone enjoyed the food and couldn't fault the staff either .
Will definitely be visiting again it's a nice relaxed atmosphere overlooking beautiful countryside .

The old Quay is a lovely place to visit in Park Gate as it sits on the estuary, but I am going to be honest here the food since turning into a carvery is very hit and miss, iv been a few times and the food goes from being perfectly cooked and a good temperature to hard vegetables and not very warm, the layout of where they place the gravy is strange as it is tucked away from the main servery and they don't offer a vegetarian gravy option either. There is a little pub set in the centre of the main park gate road up by the ice cream parlor which has free parking to the rear and a small outside seating area which cooks your food to order and is way better quality, yes it is on a smaller scale inside than the old Quay but would recommend that over the old Quay any day. Sorry old Quay you need to go back to freshly cooked meals as you did in the past.

Just come here again and the service from the heavy set red head is unbelievablybad. Ryde and a bad attitude and management are just ignoring it. Terrible to say the least.
Amazing breakfast went up twice and made a mountain on my plate both times. Really good price as well

Happy outing meat is on point as is the joyous atmosphere that fallows warm good service and staff are very helpful to you as cheerful I could barley finish my plate. My child was impressed. Free Wi-Fi and a decent bar. I feel like I could leave my car open. It's so relaxed but wouldn't advise you to do so.

Organised a meal for 21 people for my daughter's 18th Birthday! Carveries,The hen party and cheesy garlic bread. Food was tasty and hot, the staff were friendly and very helpful, and couldn't do enough to help. Had a lovely evening and will be back again soon.

I went for lunch here. I ordered two glasses of wine with our meals. I was shocked at the bill so queried it with the waitress. The wine was£4.80 a glass! I asked why it was this much? She replied that if objected to paying that much I should have ordered the house wine . I assumed that was what I had done. She gave me the most expensive wine in the place. She told me that next time I should be more specific and order house wine. The food was reasonably priced and reasonable food although we did wait 20 minutes at a quiet time for a baguette??? Despite this there will not be a next time because I feel well and truly ripped off. Is this a cynical management ploy.. are the staff told to sell the most expensive wine? Needless to say I will be passing on my disappointment to friends and relatives and advising them not to avail themselves of the facilities at the 'Old Quay' Parkgate....

Just had early dinner at The Quay, with my grandchildren. Mediocre pizzas and ice cream and all together the children's meal came to £13.94 for 2 small pizzas and 2 ice cream sundaes. They could also have had all they could eat chips and salad. The chips were stone cold and the salad was sparse and what there was , was not fresh, all salad looked tired. My husband had fish and chips, mushy peas and chips were both cold. I had pizza but as i said could not eat the salad. Will not be going again.

What a dreadful place! The seat we sat at had meat shoved between the cushions- disgusting.
The food, that we waited for for a very long time, was not worth the wait.
The carvery food had been sitting for a long time.
Staff were incredibly thin on the ground (although they were very pleasant when we could find them and we did feel very sorry for them)
Won't be returning.

Came with my family 2 weeks ago it was fabulous, came today with my daughters and the person serving on the carvery was rude, arrogant and really did not want to be there. My daughter asked for the fat trimmed off her food and the look she received was disgusting. My other daughters asked when the next lot of vegetables where due out and the response was when they are there.
This spoils a good team of staff and created this poor review.

Poor staffing problem sorted by manager. Not as nice as it has been before the rebranding but adequate, hope they read this and take note. Other sites of the same company are far better and I've reviewed them with positive replies.

We prebooked table for my granddaughters birthday 3pm. Who had travelled from New Castle for this family meal.
Waited 1 hour in queue for carvery no choice of advertised 4 meats just crumbs of Turkey. Was refunded money only available choices pizza or burgers. Waited further 50 min. Spoke to manager offered ice cream or drinks.
Very disappointed would not recommend.
