I knew the sale of my parents bungalow was going to be a sensitive, sad time for me as my father had only recently passed away. Mark, Harry and Viv were all so kind and made the whole experience so much more bearable for me. I can’t speak highly enough of the team at the Wellesbourne office of Peter Clarke. My wife and I were dealing with the sale of a property in the town but we are based in Surrey. Nothing was too much trouble for Mark, Viv and Harry and they went above and beyond the call of duty when we asked a favour to save us making the 4hr round trip. Mark was great to deal with and gave us the advice we needed to price and market the house correctly. Viv found the buyer and was a joy to deal with whilst being fastidious in ensuring the sale went smoothly and we were regularly informed of progress. I am writing this review because of the exceptional service I have had from Peter Clarke at Wellesbourne. I have sold many houses previously but have never had service like this. Vivienne was always on the case, chasing up whoever needed chasing up to keep things moving, and keeping me informed with regular updates. She was always courteous and professional and her dedication, even on her days off, really helped things go smoothly and took a lot of the stress off me. With Vivienne I felt I had someone in my corner making sure everything was taken care of. If I needed a personal secretary I would want someone like her, although I suspect they would be difficult to find. We have just bought a property through Peter Clarke, It wasn’t the most straight forward purchase however the team at Wellesbourne were extremely helpful and supportive all the way through. I’d like to give a a special mention to Viv who looked after us from the start. It felt as though Viv went above and beyond to get any issues sorted as quickly as possible and was fantastic with communicating between us and other parties involved. After carrying out my due diligence, for selecting an Estate Agent, I chose Peter Clarke as I saw they put a lot of work into their listings. I spoke with a senior manager, who listened and fully answered all my queries, with confidence. He then went away to carry out his research. An extensive report was provided by the end of the week, providing objective data regarding relative to my property. My property was listed during the lockdown period and began receiving offers within weeks and a firm was put forward and accepted shortly thereafter. Throughout the whole process, Wellesbourne Branch Manager, Mr Turner was on an absolute gem. A consummate professional. His knowledge, honesty and hard work ethic was much respected and appreciated. We used Peter Clarke, Wellesbourne to purchase our first home and were amazed by how lovely they were. Vivienne kept us updated constantly and nothing was too much trouble, she kept us more in the loop than our own solicitors did. Within 24hrs of viewing the house, we received a courtesy call to see if we had any further questions or wanted to book another viewing in. We then made an offer later that day and whilst waiting for searches and surveys to get back a few weeks later Viv kindly asked if we wished to view the property again, which we did. Avoid avoid avoid. Peter Clarke were chosen for me by the builder of my onward purchase as part of a part exchange agreement. Theybwere arrogant and rude from the outset, which as the vendor, surprised me. They asked me to fill in lots of forms with quite detailed information about the property and my accounts, but that it was just "for their file". The front of the form said otherwise, stating that it would be shared with all prospective buyers! I queried which it was, and asked for the contact details of the data protection officer twice, but my requests just went ignored, so I refused to fill in the forms. Then I started getting bookings for viewings. I had to be at home for these as they didn't yet have a spare key. We booked in a total of 3 viewings which never showed up. The agents didn't turn up either so it was clear they had been cancelled and they didn't have the decency to tell me before hand. By the fourth viewing, I called up the morning of the booking to check they were still coming, only to be told they have "literally just emailed in to cancel". Believe that if you will! If this is how they treat the vendors who pay their bills, I would hate to think how they would treat other clients....... Read more

I am an executor who instructed Peter Clarke and Co in the sale of a house in Stratford upon Avon. They found a buyer within a reasonable time back in April 2018. However, there were many complications with the house which was leasehold and not freehold and had not ever been registered with the Land Registry! The buyer was extremely patient and waited for me to correct these issues. The sale was finally completed in January 2019. Throughout this time, Peter Clarke and Co and especially Melanie Griffiths, their 'progress chaser', were unfailing in their patience and commitment to keeping me fully informed at all times.Moreover Melanie kept both sides' solicitors constantly on alert to speed things up throughout this time. I will never invest another penny in buying a house from someone that is represented by this agency. The way that we’ve been treated stinks of underhand, immoral and dishonourable practices. Days away from exchanging after investing thousands of pounds and tens of hours of effort on a purchase, the transaction, without notice or introduction to the person concerned, was handed to a ‘partner’ who told us a third party has offered a “significant” amount more than us (when in fact it was a fraction of the agreed price). The facts are: 1. We’d agreed a purchase about 2.5 months before and were ready to exchange having just days before received a local search that we’d be waiting almost the whole time for; 2. I had shared the local search with the agent as confirmation that it had been received. Upon being aware a day or two after that there was a third party involved, I immediately emailed the individual the search had been shared with asking for confirmation it would not be shared with anyone else. Confirmation was deliberately withheld and I was told simply that the file had been handed to a ‘partner’; 3. The ‘partner’ initially introduced the third party as someone who’d previously viewed the house and now having sold their house was in a position to proceed with cash. Subsequently, I was told the third party was actually a builder when I queried whether they were aware of the condition of the house (which was a big project). Why wasn’t the third party described as a builder from the outset? If it’s a builder’s business to buy, destroy/rebuild/renovate homes of the value we are taking about (c£1m+ just for the plot) it makes no sense to me that they wouldn’t have financial arrangements in place that would facilitate the purchase just a few months before the making of this new offer. 4. As above, I was told the third party made an offer that was a “substantial” increase but it was in fact just 1.78% more than the amount we’d agreed to pay and we were ready to exchange! My understanding was that the vendors were actually inheriting the proceeds from a deceased father and in real terms, less IHT I think they’d have been about £5k better off per person. I spent more than that getting to the point of exchange! 5. In reality the agents knew I could never really compete by increasing my offer given the timeframes. The bank had already valued it at the agreed purchase price and any variations would have all needed to be agreed with the bank who would have taken days to respond and approve it. As for the vendor concerned, I can only hope that one day someone treats you the way you have treated us.... Read more
