We were tenants with FHP, and our agent was Toby Oliver. We felt quite distressed by the delays in our deposit refund and the general lack of communication throughout the process.
He did not respond to our urgent calls and usually replied very late to emails, which left us quite confused about what was happening. Whenever we visited the FHP office, we were informed that he was unavailable, and we were not provided with an alternative contact. In my experience, he did not seem very approachable. As tenants, this made it extremely difficult for us to resolve our concerns.
Regarding the deposit refund, both my roommate and I had to follow up multiple times to receive updates. We requested to discuss the deposit deductions, but our emails were not acknowledged, and we were instead asked to approve them directly. To avoid further delay, we agreed yet even after that, it still took several days for any progress.
Upon emailing again for update we later learned that proof of account closures was required: something that could have been requested on our move-out date, which might have avoided much of the delay. We were also later told that landlord approval was still pending. So we had to email again!
According to tenancy regulations, the deposit should normally be released within ten working days after tenancy termination, but in our case it took almost thirty. There wasnt any single apology from Toby regarding this delay. Overall, this was a frustrating experience, and we hope that communication and responsiveness can be improved in the future....
