This is one of those places that finds ways to charge you hidden extras and flat out lies to justifys them.
I was told completely fictional laws to justify outrageous costs.
I was also lied to about the property I rented, I payed for a garage that did not come with the property. I was told that I could change the garden but the landlord was shocked that I had been told that.
Be prepared to be heavily overcharged and research everything you are told before signing anything!
Having rented from a number of different estate agents I have to say, Christopher Shaw is second to none. The service they provided was excellent and they were always happy to help. They were quick to respond to the few issues we had, and always treated us like valued customers even though it was only a small 2 bed flat that we were renting. Thanks!
Worst agency i ever faced with! Once you get a property from them, they will always try to avoid dealing with any problems occuring after. After moving in we realised that the fridge was full of mold and the sink was leaking. It took them one week to change the fridge for us. As a result we had to throw away all out food we brought with us and eat in take-aways for the whole week. Electricity bills were inadequate at the beginning and we had to search for a compromise to reduce the sums for 2 months. Old carpets had secret life inside them, namely carpet beetles. They were biting me for over a month - that's how long it took them to call Pest Control to stop that nightmare. They were never willing to help unless threatened with complaining about their service. They might be a good agency for landlords but definitely not when it comes to tenants. I advice to stay away from Christopher Shaw.
Mays have worked hard to get to completion on my sale. Property transactions always seem to take longer than they should but great communication is the key to avoiding unnecessary frustrations. Jonathan negotiated this sale but Mays really work as a team to make sure that there is always somebody to take your call or respond to queries. I have another sale in the pipeline with Mays and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them
Dreadful service every single time we've needed help or assistance, which led to them either totally ignoring or not communicating anything in a useful manner... and we had to continually chase them, usually to no avail.
Sarah Randall specifically can't even be bothered to use correct names when addressing people.. this is a great example the poor level we're talking about.
Slow, disorganised & completely ruined the enjoyment of living at one of their 'managed' properties. They caused stress, rather than helping... so why bother? Don't expect any quality service.
I'm actually gobsmacked at how bad they have been. Even from a basic business point-of-view, renters should not be treated with such contempt.. they form the majority of the population these days...
Having just sold a property with Hearnes, I cannot fault their amazing service. A breath of fresh air to find an estate agent who has kept me informed on every aspect of the sale. A huge thank you to Andrea and Lyndon for their professional expert advice in a very complicated negotiation. Both Andrea and Lyndon were extremely helpful and solved all issues with ease. I would thoroughly recommend Hearnes without any hesitation.
Initially, all appeared well. However, after the TSB bank bank technical crash, the attitude towards us changed. We were led on to believe all was well. The lack of patience led to a contract race being started. We lost the chosen Property.
On attempts to look for new property in the area, no calls were returned.
Fortunately, we have found and moved into a much more livable property in the same area.
I will not use Hearnes in the future.
