The cleanliness of the property was impressive; it felt fresh and welcoming as I stepped in. All the basic facilities in the furnished rental were thoughtfully provided, (ranging from utensils, toiletries, duvets, hangers, power plus and all the things I can imagine, other than food :) ) making it feel like warm and welcoming home. I was with Castle Residential Lettings in Paisley for over 10 years and can only say that the service, help and communication was spot-on. Jacqueline, the manager in the paisley office went above and beyond for me on many occasions. I cannot thank her enough. The tenants Castle found for me, were excellent. Never any issues of non-payment, cleanliness or antisocial behavior. Don’t get me wrong, some tenants can be a headache, but fortunately for me, they were very few and far between. This is the second time we have used Castle to totally set up a property for rental. We like to complete initial advertising and candidate selection ourselves.. Castle then completed all credit and reference checks and arranged all certificates. They then managed the move in including issue of the lease and handling of everything including key handover initial deposit and rental processing etc - honestly they could not have been more helpful.
We initially dealt with Jacqueline at Castle and then Elise but frankly everyone in the team is really professional, friendly and make you feel completely at ease.
Nothing is ever too much trouble and we are honestly delighted with the Professionalism, enthusiasm and the way Castle dealt with tenants and landlords with the pragmatic human touch. Ethically and professionally we could not have wished for a better agent and our experience with Castle is honestly the best ever much better than some of the bigger names (who we have used and been disappointed by !)
If you are thinking of using Castle for setup or to fully manage your property I wouldn't hesitate and highly recommend them (I have already done to to friends who are also using them).

Meu marido e eu saímos de Bristol e viajamos de carro por quase 7 horas para cumprir a agenda de visitação as casas de nosso interesse.
Tudo estava indo bem, até dar o horário de visitar uma das casas anunciadas por essa agência imobiliária.
Chegamos ao local com 30 minutos de antecedência e entramos em contato para avisar. A agente imobiliária disse para aguardarmos até o horário combinado. Aguardamos então 30 minutos, depois mais 10 minutos após o horário combinado, e nada de chegar alguém. Então, meu esposo decidiu ligar novamente, e uma das agentes imobiliárias nos informou que a casa em questão já estava fora de mercado. Ou seja, não atualizaram a informação na página da Rightmovie, não fizeram nenhuma chamada a nós para desmarcar a visita já agendada, e além disso tudo, fizeram com que meu marido e eu aguardassemos 40 minutos no local, para depois informarem que a casa já havia sido negociada.
O que acontece com vocês que agendam visitas, não esperam a agenda cumprir totalmente e já fazem acordos?
E se isso é comum, porque não desmarcam com os demais clientes já agendados?
Para nós, isso é uma falta de compromisso e de respeito aos clientes.
Se eu voltar a gostar de uma propriedade que estiver anunciada nessa empresa, eu deixarei de solicitar visita pois não quero passar pelo mesmo novamente.

I’d strongly recommend anyone looking at this bunch of cowboy to avoid them they are clearly incompetent at dealing with noise complaints that their tenants are causing and the play the Racist card they also expect the local council to inforce their tenancy agreement so be warned they are incompetent in all levels
They also are incompetent at dealing with leaks coming from their flat and blame it on other flats and right fake plumbers reports I had to get the environmental enforcement department of the council involved before a plumber even came out to investigate things so tenants beware

The office never responded to emails, had a huge leak in the bedroom, forced us to live in the living room, and refused to repair. Castle provided a very good service and achieved the aim of finding a quality tenant within a reasonably quick timescale, which included the Christmas and new Year period (I assume a period of low activity). The property was originally priced at £1250 per month. While activity appeared to be high, finding a prospective tenant to go that one step further proved difficult, which indicated that this figure was too high. On reduction to £1190 per month activity picked up and led to a tenant going firm relatively quickly.
On the minus side, perhaps communications between Castle and ourselves could have been a bit more proactive, though this did not affect the achievement of the end result. There were also a couple of administrative issues with the tenancy agreement which were successfully resolved by both parties. The staff at Castle were very good in their interaction with us and gave us the impression that they were working hard to look after our interests.

Very poor estate agent, will happily leave you in a flat in a very poor condition and the have very poor customer service. Will only do the bare minimum after a legal letter is put in. They took over a year to bodge repair the flat and it was still not complete when they informed me of a £100 rent increase. So i put my notice in and they left me with all bills for your flat after they moved me into temporary accommodation. AVOID this company.

They are con artists of the best kind. They know how the system works and use it to con people out of their hard earned money. For the flat I rented, I never got a moving in inventory. I asked for it at least 4 times. The flat was infested with rats that I forgot to chase them for the opening inventory to my detriment.
When I moved out I got a 160+ image closing inventory and a bill to exactly match the deposit I had given them. I obviously challenged the decision and it went into arbitration with Safe Deposits Scotland. It was here that I saw the moving in inventory for the 1st time. It looked as if the flat had been newly furnished which was an absolutely filthy lie.
Safe Deposit Scotland is in these guys pockets as well. I quote the exact response from Safe Deposit Scotland here. "While we take cognizance of the fact that the tenant didn't get a moving in inventory, it is the tenants responsibility to get the flat upto an expected quality". No where did Safe Deposit Scotland say there is no evidence the opening inventory was not provided to the tenant therefore the veracity of the agency's opening inventory can be accepted as valid. Result I lost the £500 I gave as a deposit. Got 0 back due to the fact that Safe Deposit Scotland are co-conspirators!!

TENANTS AVOID - Took advantage of young students in their first rental property. They let a 3 bedroom flat to 3 students which should require a HMO licence but they told us it’s just a formality and we just had to sign a document to say 2 of us were married and we could have the flat. As young students we did not know any better and signed the document without reading it properly. It later transpired that the document stipulated that if the authorities found out about the non-HMO licence then we would be liable for the fine due to occupying the property illegally and could face criminal charges. They also let the property without checking the energy meters as the gas meter was in £3000 debt and the energy company wouldn’t just write it off due to the sheer value and Castle Residential refused to help us so we lived for 11 months with no central heating and our only access to hot water was an electric shower or kettle. AVOID

The level of incompetence is laughable. The staff never communicates with each other, you keep hearing different things and in the end none deals with anything. 6 months to deal with a leaking roof, a broken door, and the situation in the building, and they haven't even bothered passing by the property.
Needless to say we moved out, but the funny thing is that so far they told us to 1) Return the keys to the office 2) they will pass by to pick them up 3) drop them through the letterbox. lol
Just avoid at all costs.
P.s. most positive reviews scream "FAKE", and also in a magical way they managed to make the dozens of 1star reviews (including my previous one) disappear!

WARNING!! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.
The representatives of the company are complete scumbags. They will lie through their teeth so they can earn money by doing the absolute bare minimum requirements to gain tenants. Their pictures on websites like Zooplankton and RightMove are old and misleading to what the properties and units actually look like. Being foolish and renting with these crooks taught me that.
I had recently moved to Glasgow to study and the only obstacle in the way of setting up a life here was finding housing/accommodation in Glasgow during the ridiculous competitive housing crisis currently happening. I thought I had gotten lucky with Castle Residential and the property at 4 Barfillan Dr with what appeared in the Ad on RightMove. The Ad posted pictures of a clean, maintained unit with a nice general layout of the flat. That was the idea of the flat I had until I collected the keys and got into the property.
Upon entering the property I noticed the floor was sinking in some spots, there was dust, sticky residue and stains all over the flat. There were damages to the wall and baseboards including cavities in the baseboards. Windows, baseboards and some of the plumbing wasn’t sealed properly which can lead to pests and rodents inhabiting the flat and for fluids to leak out of the plumbing. There a musky odour that resided within the unit and goo on cupboards, floor, wall, the furniture and the general area of the kitchen and bathroom. Absolutely disgusting, it should be common sense to rent a CLEAN flat to any new tenant and should be maintained that way. The bathroom shower had debris and dust, the toilet and surrounding area had URINE on and around the toilet!!! Tried to clean it and noticed fluid was leaking from the bottom of the toilet onto the floor making me think the toilet wasn’t sealed properly. I had one safety concern in the unit and I’m pretty sure I spotted asbestos in the unit. I’m not qualified to say it is asbestos but anybody at Castle Residential isn’t qualified to tell me it is either. When I had asked about the asbestos, they claimed it wasn’t without any evidence or documentation to support the claim. They also neglected to send qualified personnel to test if it was, which raised a lot of RED FLAGS.
This isn’t the only unit with issues I’m sure because walking down the street in the same building on the first floor, you can see through the window that the roof of the first unit collapsed and everything above it fell through.
There are too many concerns with this property that I just wanted out and to have my money back the exact day I collected the keys, what a joke.
In terms of trusting this company, I recommend none of you trust this company as far as you could throw them. Upon arrival to Glasgow I gave Castle Residential a call regarding how soon we could move into the flat and the answer was on the 7th which was 7 days after I arrived and the reason was from EMMA “The flat has to be professionally cleaned”. Due to that we booked a hotel for an extra 4 days because the flat was supposed to be PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED. However, from what I had explained above, that was not the case. Castle acknowledged that the unit was disgusting and not up to standard and offered to have a cleaner show up at 8:00pm on the 7th. I thought it was strange that a cleaner would work that late to begin with but I had hope that we could get these issues resolved. 9:00pm rolled around and the cleaner didn’t show. Complete negligence on Castle Residential to say something will happen TWICE and nothing. At this point I had lost trust in Castle and asked for my money back. I ended up paying them an extra £10.00 which they stole and won’t give back because they failed to mention that they aren’t responsible for paying their own banks fees, not my banks fees, prior to them taking my money lying about the amount they had received. I provided bank statements to disprove them and it made no difference.
Don’t trust this company, your best interest isn’t their best interest. They just want your money.

If I could rate below zero stars I would. Their tenants flooded me and dispite myself and the Tenant contacting them regularly by phone and email they did not respond. I had no electricity for nearly a week due to being flooded. And their tenant was left without being able to shower. It has taken over two weeks for them to start on any repairs to stop my property being further damaged. They are an absolute joke of a "company". They don't care as long as they get their money and do as minimal as possible to keep their properties in a maintained condition both for their tenents and for the neighbours.

Lazy and unresponsive when you are actually a tenant with them, they cannot wait to get you off the phone as quickly as possible, their general attitude towards you is nowhere near professional.
If you decide to go with castle residential i cannot stress how important it is to take pictures as evidence of absolutely EVERYTHING when you initially move in. They will try and keep your entire deposit when you move out and are absolutely not afraid to make up bills to accumulate to the total amount of your deposit, and they will try and use scare tactics to try and get your deposit amount, even in an economically hard time of a global pandemic.
By far the worst letting agency i've ever dealt with and would highly suggest giving them a miss.

I would give this company zero stars if I could. They are very happy to respond to you until you have a problem, then they just ignore your emails. Myself and my partner moved in to a flat that was NOT as described. Couches were ripped, paint all over the floor, marks/blood on the bed with a wooden board holding the mattress up, light fittings hanging down, handles missing from cupboards, carpet not fitted properly..the list goes on. They think it is acceptable to rent a flat like this. We weren't allowed to view the flat due to covid, which we were fine with as they sent us a video and all looked great. On further inspection this is an older video. The flat was so bad that we chose not to stay in it, we hardly had any time to find a new flat before our time ran out in our old one. They caused us a great deal of unnecessary stress. We phoned castle who then told us to email them with our list of problems. We heard nothing back for days so we emailed them again saying that we would be seeking legal action if we didnt get our money back. Nicola emailed us back but fairly quickly after that
and we could tell by the tone of her email that she was not happy about us complaining. Got told we would get a refund of our £700.. still waiting a week later. If you look at other reviews I am not the only person to mention this. Emailed yesterday, no response again. Avoid, not worth the headache. They are only happy when they are taking your money. There are a lot of other letting agencies that treat their customers better. I wish I had read the reviews online before using them.

Nicola is by far the worst person to deal with. False advertisement on the flat. Never actually replied to us. Had to get her manger involved. Paid my deposit and a few weeks rent. We said we didn't want to take the flat as its not what was advertised. Bad mouths me to the landlady saying I said things which wasn't true at all! My words where its a lovely wee flat its just not for us. A month later after my partner phoning them continuously and even hanging up on him. Didn't really get anywhere. Got an apology but felt so forced as like she didn't even want to. Even well before I got my money back they put it straight back onto the market. With no even a bye or leave. The stress I've been under about it all hasn't been great and has set me back to where I was 2 years go. I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere for a property because I really don't want this happening to someone else !

I would like to thanks Thomas, Gary Emma and the team. No problem in getting a place and in the leasing process - the same with the termination when I moved out. Fast friendly ans efficient. During my three years with them, I only had to call them for a repair once and Thomas managed the whole thing with speed and acuracy which was very impressive considering they had to carry a washing machine up three flights of stairs.

Worst letting agency I've ever had to deal with. EICR was out of date in our flat by over a decade, the land lord was informed and he informed castle residential who said they would send an electrician to complete the tests, this never happened. After leaving the flat it came to light that they had decided to keep my deposit instead of placing it into safe deposit scotland even though it's a legal requirement to do so. Still to this day I havent received my deposit back and every time I phone they have a different excuse as to why they cant talk to me, either someone's on holiday or they're on a call. They promise to phone back but never do. When there was any problems during the time in the flat they would ask you to email instead of calling, the emails were always ignored. Totally unprofessional, rude and thief's. Would highly recommend going anywhere else as long as you keep a wide berth of castle residential.

Not mentioning that they tricked us into what's seems to be their well planned game how not to give a deposit back. If only we would trust people less, but they seemed nice and friendly. Would never deal with again. Avoid at all costs especially if your landlord with them is Jazz Choudhary. Bathroom roof caved in due to flood upstairs. Took days for someone to come fix (cowboy job). Then months later the back bedroom roof caved in - the same side as the bathroom - clearly a building needing a lot of work!! Despite photos being sent to Castle, it took even more time for someone to come fix the SECOND roof that caved in as even with photos showing half the roof was gone they believed it was just a crack in the ceiling - staff are blind as well as stupid! It took Environmental Health attending for anyone to bother from Castle to come round. The man they sent round couldn’t believe what he was saying and covered up the gaping hole with plasterboard. Landlord very tight and did not want to spend money making their flat fit for purpose. We were told there was electric heating - this consisted of just plug in heaters no actual working radiators. The list goes on with this lot, just avoid if you appreciate your health and safety!!!

Ive rented from 10 companies and castle is without a doubt the worst one ive been with, it isnt even close and if youve rented before you can understand what a statement that is. The issues started from a failure to get a correct inventory book, a failure to do the correct agreed furnishings (which were in writing) a failure of communications which take weeks, they avoid emails and will simply hang up on the phone. Do yourself a favour, unless the property is utterly amazing, if its managed by castle, avoid.

Rented a flat from this mob. They charged unlawful fees to get credit checks etc. Moved out and they tried to keep the deposit, producing a cleaning invoice that included cleaning of things that didn't even exist in the flat. The deposit company saw through them. As an additional comment for anyone taken in by the generally high overall score, do 10 minutes research and you'll be amazed how many of the positive reviews are from family and friends of Jazz and the other staff. It's unfortunate that google don't allow you to report these multiple blatant fraudulent reviews.

one of the worst and most dishonest companies i have had to deal with. at the time of viewing there was considerable damage around the flat. I was told this would all be fixed before we moved in but it never was. i was told there was car parking provided but there wasnt, i wasnt told that the lift works less than half the time but it didnt and never had.
After chasing up for months trying to get the items fixed we eventually gave up and moved out. Castle residential are now trying to claim we caused the damage and withholding our deposit. Dishonest and stupid in this case as I have all the evidence to show thats not the case so its more of an incovenience than anything else. however shows the kind of company they are

I rented a flat for 7 yrs from Castle, at first all the repairs needed were carried out in a prompt manner and I was well satisfied, in July 2017 I had a partial ceiling collapse in the bedroom and it took over 7 months to get it repaired in February this year the cold water supply to the kitchen area was cut off and despite several phone calls and emails was Never resolved environmental health officers visited the flat on two occasions and took note of this issue plus a few other minor issues that were raised with Castle the environmental officer dealing with the case contacted me by phone and told me that she had informed Castle that the flat was not fit for human habitation and that they should help rehome me . During this time I applied for 2 flats with Castle and I was told that I had been unsuccessful on both occasions dispite what the environment health had told them I eventually found new accommodation with a different letting agency and when I tried to claim back my deposit Castle withheld part of the deposit for cleaning and. Minor maintaince
I would warn anyone thinking about using this agency to look elsewhere

Had the exact same experience as Graeme and TheBigPole - absolutely disgusting behaviour, fabricated invoices and "evidence" against me, place had cobwebs and mould when I moved in yet they are trying to claim £180 worth of cleaning after I left the place in a better condition, psychopath neighbour upstairs who threatened to murder me on numberous occasions - CR said they had no idea there was a nightmare neighbour, eventhough elderley couple that lived next door for 20 years+ said there had been "many, many tenants in and out of that flat because he's making there life a misery". CR blatantly lied about this as I specifically asked about the neighbours when I viewed the property, and they said they kept themsleevs to themsleves and there hadn't been any complaints!
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! in a dispute, just like everyone else, as they are trying to not only steal my deposit, but get more money out of me on top of that!! Honestly don't know how they sleep at night :@

Excellent Letting Agent - A refreshing Change!!!
Castle Residential are a superb company to deal with - they are honest and reliable. It is refreshing to work with an estate/letting agent that have great communication. I have had several experiences with other agents and have never had such great service.I have been renting my properties with Castle for years and could not have done it without Jazz & his team. Jazz is extremely proactive, efficient and sorts out all problems within hours. I cannot thank him enough. The best letting/estate agents that I have known to date and all at a fair & reasonable cost - well worth it in my opinion!!

!!!! STUDENTS BEWARE!!!! This company is borderline criminal. They will attempt to take and keep your money in any way that they can. We had a contract signed for a flat in Glasgow and the landlord lost his HMO license 3 weeks before the start of the university term! Castle Residential decided to keep some of our deposit for whatever reason and gave us no help finding other accommodation. We only received the rest of the deposit after weeks of persistent phone calling and threatening legal action. Obviously the manager, who was always in 'meetings', realised that she wouldn't get away with stealing our money. The phone operators are clueless and rude which makes solving any sort of problem impossible. I strongly recommend that students (or anyone) avoid this dreadful company and find somewhere more respectable to lease a flat.

Very disappointed, scheduled a viewing, they said no one put any offers in, day before the viewing I called to make sure everything is fine and still available, again they said its all good, and one hour before the viewing I got a call that is off the market?!! Is that how things really work?

Similar experience to a lot of other reviews, very slow to respond to issues with property, when they do respond they take an age to resolve. If they send people to do work to fix issues they send cowboy workmen. We were tenants for 14 months and had to contact multiple times to get things fixed, and some things were never fixed for the term of the tenancy. THEN we moved out, scrubbed the place clean, left the place in a much cleaner state than it was when we moved in (as it clearly hadn't been cleaned when we moved in). We were never supplied with an inventory despite asking on multiple occasions for one, so make sure you take photos upon moving in, and upon leaving a property managed by them to cover your back, because no matter how perfect you leave the property when you move out, they will claim part of your deposit.
Their tactic seems to be to wait until the very last day of the month they have to reply to your request for your funds back from safe deposit Scotland, then deny your request for the full amount back, and decide that they want almost half of it for themselves. I assume they do this as they think after waiting the full month, you'd be desperate to get the money back so would just accept their fraudulent claim for your money and forget about it.
If you have the choice, I'd highly recommend avoiding this agency, unless you are absolutely desperate, as you will have nothing but trouble with them, and then come up against their blatantly fraudulent behaviour at the end of your tenancy.
Update: 08/05/2018
Be very careful. During the deposit dispute adjudicated by safe deposits Scotland, Castle Residential uploaded 2 fake invoices to support their claim for £320 of our deposit. One for a cleaning company which doesn't exist, and one for a maintenance company which also doesnt exist. After disputing their claim they were eventually only awarded £105, but they shouldn't even have been given that. Safe Deposits Scotland are useless in determining if "evidence" uploaded for the dispute process is fraudulent or legitimate, hence why Castle Residential get away with their fraudulent activities and are able to scam former residents out of their deposits.
Would advise avoiding completely, but if you have to deal with Castle Residential, make sure you get an inventory from them, if they ignore you when you ask for one get an independent party to sign one for you. Take as many photos as possible before and after your tenancy to prove the condition of the property, and instead of cleaning the place yourself, pay a legitimate company to clean the property and provide you with an invoice before you leave, as Castle WILL try and claim the place needed cleaned anyway, and at least you will have proof that you had ths place cleaned before you left.
This is an extremely dishonest company who never seem to be reprimanded for their actions. Schemes such as Safe Deposits Scotland actually enable them to continue their fraudulent activities so don't count on them to protect your deposit.

I would like to alert the general public of Paisley and specifically landlords who have mistakenly trusted their properties with the incompetence of the staff at Castle Residential Paisley.
I began my horrible experience with Castle Residential in September 2016. After the rigmarole of viewing the flat which the organisation of was laughable, I attended at the office to sign my lease. Alarm bells started to ring with me right after I paid my deposit to them to secure the flat for myself. The attitude of the staff suddenly changed and it was clear they were happy to have my money and no longer cared about me as a client from this point.
I was then handed a set of keys and was excited about moving in, however as all flittings are extremely stressful at the best of times I hoped that Castle Residential would have done their best to ensure everything was done properly their end..... This of course was not the case.
The keys in which I were given were the wrong keys and I couldn't get in the flat. At this point I am now incurring a loss of time and money as I paid for help to move in. I was extremely angry and embarrassed at this point but thought.....hey these things happen.
When I returned to the office and stated they were the wrong keys, I didn't think it possible to experience such a low level of not giving a hoot about me. I was thrown another set of keys by a disgruntled mumbling member of staff as the rest gawked on at me as if I was from outer space. Further embarrassment for me. Before I left I asked what I should do with the wrong keys.....I was told "I dunno" and stared at again as if I was an idiot. WOW UNBELIEVEABLE.
So after suffering this treatment I moved in. My first task was to fill out my inventory and report any faults in the property..... Which there were MANY of! The flat was also absolutely disgusting, moldy and not up to living standard. I had to then pay a cleaning company to deep clean it for me despite being promised that it would be cleaned by Castle Residential.
I passed the inventory to Castle Residential along with my concerns that many things were not right and needed repaired.
I did not hear back from them.
I then emailed, phoned and went to the office on many occasions to discuss these things. Each and every time I was Palmed off with "We're really busy so leave it with me". It was clear they did not care about my safety or well being.
At this stage in my tenancy I was asked casually via email if I was thinking about signing a lease for another year. I said I was unsure.
This came back to bite me a couple of months later when I sent them my required 2 months notice to leave the property. Castle Residential LIED to the landlord and told her that I had promised to sign a lease. Something I never did. Shortly after this, castle residential LIED once again to the landlord stating that I was refusing to accommodate any viewings for prospective tennants. Again another lie making me look like a nightmare tenant when the truth of the matter is that I work extremely long and unsociable hours, and making myself available for daytime or evening viewings was impossible.
I had previously told staff at the office that the reason I was leaving was because I did not wish to deal with their dishonesty and incompetence anymore.
I cannot understand now why Castle Residential are looking to claim a full deep clean of the property from my deposit when I was subjected to a filthy flat upon moving in.
Anyone looking to rent a property should stay away from Castle Residential. You will most likely not see your deposit again even if like me, you take good care of the property. As soon as you hand over cash, the staff begin to try and find as many reasons as possible to keep your money....and will use as much dishonesty as possible to achieve this goal.

Avoid. Rented a property from these abysmal agents between 2016-17. Absolute disgrace and prime reason property agents have such a poor reputation. Couldn't unlock the door for us on arrival, didn't have access to the garden for a fortnight, and the property repairs they had promised took months to enact. Not to mention the rat infestation and the leftover furniture, endless storeroom of post, and general garbage they neglected to sort out from the previous tenants. Even ended up having to go to the Scottish deposits ombudsman to get my deposit back as they were intent on adding insult to injury. Atrocious. But happy I got the deposit back in the end. Again - avoid. Plenty of less morally bankrupt agents in Paisley and Glasgow.

TL;DR - Especially if you're a student, do NOT go with castle.
Before we moved in, Castle charged us for our background checks without informing us of our option to find our own agency, a practise which we later learned to be illegal.
Upon moving in, we reported many, many problems with the flat, including but not limited to a cracked window in the lounge, clutter from the previous tenants (packaging etc) and requirement of a deep clean (we even found cigarette butts). None of these concerns were ever addressed.
In addition, in spite of the fact that the flat was left cleaner than it was when we moved in, Castle has refused to return our deposit, even citing many of the problems we had with the flat as causes. When I phoned for clarification, Castle claimed they have no record of us ever complaining about the flat.
Almost every aspect of dealing with Castle has been a nightmare. The people in the office are smarmy and unhelpful and they promise to deal with problems but have always conveniently forgotten when pressed. If you're thinking of going with Castle, I'd strongly advise that you reconsider.
1 star because I cannot give zero.

Excellent Letting Agency. Castle Residential manage over 30 properties for me as I am often out the country due to work commitments, so cannot self manage. I have been using their property management service for 8 years now and having tried 3 other letting agents in the past, I can say they are by far the best letting agent I have dealt with in Scotland. They are HONEST which is the most important quality for me and they are very professional in their manner. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED LETTING AGENT.

Landlord Review: I found the the staff very helpful and professional, and must highlight Daryl for particular credit and sheer ability. The agency is well run overall and quite flexible - they are also quick to respond to query's or messages.
My only negative points were associated with payments to Landlords. Rents were generally transferred on the 10th of the month (but sometimes later) which is a long wait given that the agents receive it on the 1st. Equally, when they had a few system issues that delayed these payments further, they didn't bother to advise their clients until it was eventually queried. I pointed out that a simple group email notification would have served to make their landlords aware of potential delays.
I would recommend this company and would use them again but suggest you might want to negotiate Agreement terms first.

Moved in to a castle residential property with my partner at the beginning of June 2017 we pay £835 pm, since the first week we have emailed constantly about the fact the oven and grill don't work two months later not been addressed never-mind an engineer sent to fix it, the fact we have fungus (YES BIG, HUGE MUSHROOMS THAT RELEASE SPORES THAT ARE INSANELY BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH) that are growing in the bedroom and the kitchen to the point we have been told not use either room (it's a basement and when conversion was done to make it habitable it wasn't done properly or treated to combat damp and fungi hence the reason of dampness and fungi ie. reclaimed wooden floorboards laid down directly above a soil floor), numerous broken furniture and fixtures and the pièce de résistance the landlord screwed shut every single one of our windows. We can't dry clothes, open windows, cook or really breath in our flat, Castle residential have totally failed us and haven't repaired anything except the backdoor that was 'fixed' last week (we were told this would be done prior to us moving in) the maintenance man used untreated pine which is a soft wood and can't withstand outdoor use to fix an exterior/exposed back door. The failings are endless, we haven't been provided with gas/electrical safety certificates and I could simply go on. We can't just up and leave unfortunately and castle just pass the buck while doing nothing and ignoring everything about repairing standards and basic human living standards.
Please save yourself the horrific stress and upset and simply don't use these careless/unprofessional/uncaring letting agents. We have had to contact environmental health and we are exploring numerous other routes to try and better our living situation, because financially we are unfortunately stuck between a rock and a hard place, we pay a lot of money to live here, but we also work min/paid jobs. I've attached some photos of the fungi and that isn't even a tenth of what we have had to deal with and remove ourselves and that's including the numerous other repairs. We spent money on a dehumidifier, damp traps, cedar blocks, slow-cooker and takeaways to try and make things better, to find out none of the above work for this type of dampness/fungi and we shouldn't use our kitchen at all.
I have a constant headache which I can't figure out if its due to spores from the fungi or stress from trying to get them to address the repairs over two and a half months and still no resolution, I'm worried I'll have to become homeless and lose thousands in rent to protect my health and sanity. ***Please click on my review to see photos of the true extent of the fungi.

Phoned this company with a problem on 4 separate occasions over the last few weeks. Was advised someone would call me back to discuss. As I heard from no one, I called again, left message on ansaphone & got no answer to that, not even a courtesy call to say it's being dealt with or some sort of contact. Absolutely nothing! Completely ignored! A disgrace!

Absolutely horrible experience. Kept that flat spotless and deep cleaned before I left yet charged for 'minimal' cleaning?! There was nothing to clean!! I didn't paint walls or decorate as preferred by landlord, filled in any holes from pictures hung. Cleaned windows, bleached bathrooms and kitchen and lino flooring, dusted and hoovered.
I was mugged and PAID MYSELF to change locks, dropping in new keys to agency, then was told landlord had to PAY HIMSELF TO CHANGE LOCKS? No.
Was awaiting my deposit back to pay the last months rent and treated with absolute rudeness and incompetancy. I done absolutely everything correctly. Put everything in writing and was told 'they couldn't find the emails'. They are very rude on the phone. I was a good tenant. Kept the house spotless, kept my floor of close cleaned, paid my rent ON TIME every month until the Last month as was awaiting my deposit.
Nothing was ever followed through by letting agency. I feel for the landlord, because it is the letting agency to blame, not the tenant.
Lovely flat, super attentive landlord (when agency even notified him of anything), but deplorable agency lacking professionalism in my opinion. Very disappointed. Since learned of others having the same opinion. Awkward, Awkward, Awkward.

Viewed a flat that had just been abandoned so the place was a state. This was not mentioned until we got to the property and of course the pictures used were stock photos in advertisement. Was advised to write with what we would want done to the flat and they would put to landlord. We agreed although flat was a state was under the impression that if we took the place it would be cleared out etc. So we emailed and advised we were interested in the property as long as everything was removed and repair to a window was made. Time passed no word, Emailed again and was advised property still available and that they hadn't heard from landlord. I done this about 3 times and decided to look elsewhere. By the time I had found a new tenancy the flat was then occupied and not even an email to let me know.

We had an awesome time in Castle Residencial. The apartment -161 High Street 3 10- was comfortable and cozy and its spacious and luminous living room made our stay very enjoyable. Its location is perfect -the apartment is near all the main atractions of the city and it's located just near a supermarket-.
Matt was very attentive and willing to help us in everything we needed.
We'd recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Glasgow - We'll surely come back!

As a Landlord I would strongly recommend Castle Residential. The service is first class and they make sure the property they manage is always let by a reliable tenant and there's seldom any problem or come backs to the Landlord. The whole team are professional and nothing is to much trouble with most importanly the rent money is paid in full to you bank account. I have being dealing with them for around 4 years now and in that time tenants have changed but it's never any more than a week or 2 before the Castle team have someone else in making me money on my property.

Excellent agency , from the initial call to the office to enquire about properties . Then the viewings with Jamie , who seems to know Paisley and Glasgow inside out !! Then Laura at the office made the whole lease signing process a doddle :-)
Even when a problem occurs , like the washer stopped working . Thomas at the office organised the appliance engineer within 2 hours of my call !!! And it had to be replaced and that was completed the next very next day by contractors , who seem to be carefully selected by castle to deliver a service to their high standards .
Very happy and I wouldn't go elsewhere . Hope it helps you ;-)

It is illegal for lettings agents in Scotland to ask tenants for any fees other than a refundable deposit and rent, but that doesn't stop Castle from trying to do so. If they ask you for any, like they did me, report them to the Police. If you already paid, claim them back.

Called to arrange viewings for my niece who is moving back from Canada. The girl I spoke to on the front desk Nicola was extremely accommodating and stayed on the phone with me for around 15-20mins going through all properties and booked all the viewings in for us in the one afternoon! Thank you so much for your guidance and talking us through the process we look forward to viewing the properties and continuing the process.

Staff is friendly because you give them money for nothing! My boyfriend and I signed to rent an apartment, we paid 55 pounds each, then three weeks after that, just before the time we were supposed to move in, they called us to say that the apartment is not available anymore as the landlord refused to give it to anyone.They promised to find us another flat, which did not happen. We waited a few weeks for their assistance, then realized that this is pointless. We did not received our money back, although it was not our fault, and had to start searching again for a flat.

I contacted castle telling them of my requirements, including my budget. They found the perfect flat for my needs within a few days and I moved in within 4 weeks. There was a little teething problem ( washing machine not working) I contacted them, it was fixed within 24 hours. Much better than I used before. Highly recommended and easy to use.

I regret renting flat from this agency. My flat have been flooded and i been promised that it will be attended the next day and a week latter I'm in the same position. Phoned them every day, emailed and but no replays. They just ignores if you have an emergency. I advice everyone don't get involved with this agency. People are friendly, but till you signed the papers.

It all began when I saw an advert 2 bedroom flat FIRST MONTH'S RENT FREE. Went to view the property and explained my situation to agent/owner (Jazz) that I can provide reference from my landlord and student
loan letter. Then I was told that there shouldn't be a problem to rent a flat.
Nightmare started as soon as I paid deposit. They just didn't seem to do anything.
I had to chase them. No replies to questions.
After couple of weeks agency changed the circumstances and offered me alternative to pay first month's rent and don't pay last month's rent. But I couldn't afford it. So asked for my money back. Then I was told that money should reach my bank account within 48 hours. When I checked my bank account money wasn't there. Then I put the review on google, just one sentence at the time "I wouldn't recommend this agency to anyone!"
I receive an email from Jazz at once.
He put the blame on me that I cannot provide with a reference. And asked me to remove the review on google.
Now I need to seek legal advice to get my deposit back.

PLEASE AVOID THIS LETTING AGENTS. I have rented a property for two years i took on the property because i was expecting my first child. I delt with tge staff who we're fab till i got my keys and had a proper chance to look over the property. I found after my first week in the house that the front door was not wind and water tight not one of the storage heaters worked also there was no heaters at all in the bedrooms my electricity meter was rigged no smoke alarms the roof leaked.I reported all of these issues in writting on many occasions with one reply saying the repairs had been noted and will be delt with in sufficent time months passed no emergancy repairs carried out.I had to call the fire saftey officer out who put new smoke alarms in and told me that my meter was a high fire risk. I had to call scotish power to sort immediately as it was putting me and my unborn son at risk castles reply when notified about this repair was we will get someone out within a week sorry but i could of died. Letter after letter call after call still nothing they did not reply to my solicitor who also tried to get the repairs done.almist a year and a half later they eventually stuck to the t&c of the tenancy contract and put a new front door in to make the property wind and water tight then two weeks after this installed central heating but with the insult of asking me to pay for this threw the green deal scheme at a price over 2000 i refuse then the heating goes in and im told i have to pay a 75pound rent increase or to get out. At the moment i am uncertain if my self and my young baby may be made homless after such a high increase. Pkease avoid this company is awful send unqualified people out to deal with electrics joinery work ect.

COWBOYS! STAY CLEAR OF THIS JOKE OF AN AGENCY! They have taken money for things they didn't do, they never take responsibility and blame every other agent involved. If you like having to constantly phone up a company who never get back to you, give you false numbers to phone, send out ''contractors'' weeks or months after you've asked for help that arrive clueless as to what they've to do and struggle to speak English then be my guest and sign your self up.Your fooling no one by having family and friends of your company to jump on to write fantastic reviews about your company CASTLE RESIDENTIAL!. I truly hope as a company you go bust for the shocking treatment that you provide for families stuck with you as a letting agency. You are all under qualified, pompous and arrogant beyond belief. High five for lasting so long as a joke of a company. If you want to try and redeem yourselves go back to living with your parents or the background you came from that taught you how to avoid responsibilities.

Worst Company in the World!
Please don't let the fake positive reviews convince you from the truth. We had signed the lease on the basis of work being carried out before we moved in. Got the keys on the day, walked into the property and nothing had been done and the place hadn't even been cleaned. Pubes in the toilet. We kicked up a fuss god knows how many times for nothing to be done, passed to so many people the usual crap. Had 1 nightmare after another with the property and nothing being fixed for the 7/8 months of residing here. Separate issue it has now been 2 months and we haven't been able to pay rent because the landlord is supposed to be taking over the property because of the nightmare she was having with Castle also. We still haven't heard much from Castle.
Never ever been treated this poorly from a letting agency in the past 10 years of renting.
We have given them a further 7 days which is up very soon and we are vacating the property.
Avoid this company like the plague.

This is all anyone needs to know....whenever you interact with them over the phone, e-mail or even if you walk straight into their office....you will be greeted and treated with respect by a team of very friendly staff who are always willing to handle any matter in a professional and efficient manner. Their customer service is excellent and they will look after your interests whether you are a landlord or tenant. I highly recommend Castle Residential to everyone.

I started using Castles as a letting agent a few months ago and can highly recommend them. They found me tenants very quickly who took the property as seen for the full asking rent. Unfortunately, due to personal misfortune, my tenants defaulted on the rent after two months but Castles organised a weekly payment plan for them which has paid back all the rent due. I must give an extra special sixth star to Sarahjane who has been fantastic and kept me informed of all developments, though all the staff have been great and very friendly. Great company to do business with.

My dad and I have a few flats that are looked after by Castle Residential. They have always delivered what they say and I have had not issues with them. The rent is paid on time and on the odd occasion that it isn't, they let me know in advance and what they intend to do to retrieve it.
Castle will always endeavour to find a tenant if the flat is empty and have always succeeded. I have no issues using Castle to manage my portfolio of flats as they take away the headache that comes with by-to-let properties.

Castle are currently managing two of my own properties and I have always been happy with the service provided. The girls in the office are very helpful and quick to respond to any of my queries. Castle Residential staff were first class. They showed me what availablity they had and explained the pro and cons for each. They then proceeded to offer me viewings later in the afternoon at the two properties I had identified for my daughter, one of which I have now reserved. Special word of praise to the senior staff member, Jackie ( I think) as she could not have been more helpful....We even got a cup of tea
If in Paisley and looking for a flat to rent, I would recommmend that you visit this office.

Castle have been a great letting experience. I couldn't think of any area they could improve upon. In the rare event of a problem it is fixed ASAP and with little fuss. Matt has been fantastic in making sure we're happy with every aspect of the tenancy. Castle are by far the best letting agents I have ever used for finding a flat in Glasgow. They are professional yet approachable and are easy to get a hold of at any time.

These guys have looked after my portfolio since 2006. They bend over backwards to help me - sometimes I've had to fork out big expenses for work on flats and they allow me to pay it off incrementally through rent over the following months. The email system for invoices and reports runs like clockwork. They pretty much do my accountant's job for me too by sending me the profit and loss at the end of the financial year! Brilliant service

Only getting 1 star as I cant do any less, I have not got one good thing to say about this company, I can sum it up in three words: 1, shambolic 2; unprofessional 3; discourteous.
One point to note is that they take a fee and do nothing for it, I do more chasing for the rent than they do.
From experience as a landlord through castle residential I would highly recommend that no one uses them as a landlord or a tenant.
This might sound very harsh but I have had a year of constant problems in which nothing ever gets resolved.

This is the first time I have written a review, and it’s purely because the service is so bad from this company that I cannot believe there incompetence!!!The other reviews are spot on, a total shambles of a company. But the one thing that alarmed me the most was just how untrustworthy this company are, it really is unbelievable. I felt like the relationship was a constant battle of them trying to charge me for anything they could, the amount of times that they made up repairs to the property was incredible, and when challenged you were passed about from member of staff to member of staff, with no-one quite sure exactly. By the time you get an answer the money has been deducted from your rent and you are told that you will have to go to a dispute to get any money back.
Please do not use this company, this is a genuine warning from someone who is unfortunately still tied to them for six more months!!

The WORST customer service I've ever had. Don't call up expecting a helpful, polite response unless your calling to say you'll rent a place.
The person you need to speak to will NEVER be available to speak at that moment and will give 4-5 days before you get a response.
Having problems and need maintenance? Better not expect it done in a hurry.
0/10 would NOT recommend.
