Despite an offer on a property, then phone calls and email, not one courtesy call or email to tell me what is happening. I wouldn’t use these cowboys to manage my property, or recommend them to anyone who is looking at renting a property. Absolutely disgusting treatment. Don’t even deserve one star, but can’t post on zero stars!

Worst Property service ever. They are running this agency so they can get a place to sleep in the day time. How many times you try to call them, they won't attend your calls, they won't call you back also. Trying to reach them to enquire about a property for past one month. No one is picking the call, no one is calling back or responding to my emails. Still the property is listed in Rightmove.

Me and my missus needed a home desperately for the 6th of October and MRKT Property Experts have been super helpful when most of the others left us for later dates and prevented my missus coming from China to spend an absurd amount on a hotel! Have been waiting for apartment repairs for nearly 4 months. Multiple calls, emails and false promises to contact the landlord/get repairs with James with no resolution.
Upstairs neighbors have flooded my flat, leading to mould over all the walls, contractor has broken the boards in the kitchen.
Agents are doing nothing about it. No acknowledgement of the issues at all.
I cannot recommend this agency at all. They're only responsive when everything is going well and money doesn't need to be spent.
If you would like to get literally laughed at by James on the phone - getting told he's too busy when calling to follow up on you issues, go ahead and use this company.

They sold the property whilst we were in the process of setting up a one-year tenancy agreement. They did not tell us they were looking at selling the property, and did not tell the new landlord and new lettings agency about us, so the property went back up on the market with an increased price. Awful service. Stay away from them, especially if you are a student or a young professional as they will not care about you.

Me and my partner are first-time renters, and after an appalling experience with H&S, I'm sure I can speak on behalf of both of us when I say that we can not fault the service received from Christopher Shaw. Specifically, their Agent Lauren who was just fantastic. We had lots of finnicky and inexperienced questions and a couple of hurdles but Lauren came at us with serious professionalism, approachability and an attentiveness I have never known. I'm almost gutted that our actual landlords arnt the team at Christopher Shaw because I quite literally, Trust them.

STRESS FREE process of renting application. Professional and friendly team. Lauren responds almost instantly to emails and telephone calls. All other members of the team: Matt, Amanda, Bianca are also very helpful and answered my questions when Lauren was busy. Awful, do not use! We tried to view a property through Christopher Shaw and were immediately deterred by the agent who put up many barriers. Despite attempting to make an appointment on several occasions, we were continually told to email our details and someone would come back to us to make.....no one ever did! The property status then quickly changed to under offer.......what a surprise!!!!!

Not good at all, were unable to sort out issues revolving tenants and blamed all tenants for issues, other than taking responsibility for themselves or helping the tenants out. Lack of professionalism while communicating over emails and will assume one tenant to log in and become nominated payee for distributing the deposit money after tenancy. Instead of securing your funds, they will leave the money with a housemate (who logs in first) after tenancy without confirming that it is okay with the rest of the house hold. Make sure the person who distributes the deposit money is a trustworthy member as otherwise Christopher Shaw workers will tell you it is not their problem and to take it further with the police. They have provided us no security with our deposits after tenancy and will charge you for damages that were not there in the first place.

My brother spoke to someone about viewing a flat, they gave him a time and date to view but when he got there he was stood outside the property for 45 minutes as the estate agent failed to show up or phone to let him know they weren't going to be there. After complaining about what happened he then arranged another viewing of the same flat a few days later - the estate agent showed up and was very unprofessional and didn't have much information to share with him. He was told that he would be contacted within a few days to let him know if he had been accepted. The estate agent failed to email him and once he had got in contact her response was 'if you haven't been contacted then someone else has probably already taken it'. If the estate agent had shown up on the day he arranged the viewing the first time then my brother would have had a chance in actaully getting the flat. She was very unprofessional and I would highly recommend being very careful with this company when looking at renting a property.

In August last year, I had been accepted for a placement in Bournemouth and with the placement beginning in September, was in a rush to secure a place to stay. I got into contact with a few landlords and agencies but Christopher Shaw was the one that stood out the most.
Being a student who moved away a very long distance from home for the first time, Christopher Shaw made it very easy and stress free for me. Whether it was through the initial process or any issues I had in regards to my room, I felt confident with Christopher Shaw helping me out.
They made the process swift and pain free, answering any questions I had, something that I felt was important for a student looking to move away a long way from home for the first time.
I dealt mainly with Matt & on a few occasions Lloyd and I have to say their professionalism was what made me commit to renting a room in a house share with Christopher Shaw.
Upon moving in, there were a few issues I noted in regards to the room such as a broken socket and the wardrobe being somewhat flimsy. Both of these issues were addressed within 2-3 days of me getting into contact with them without a problem.
Looking at earlier reviews from students, I saw that some had bad experiences but from my own personal experience this was the complete opposite. I can say that I would definitely recommend any student Christopher Shaw if you are looking for a room to stay in!
Finally I just want to give an honorable mention to Matt, who was pretty much my main point of contact, for being extremely helpful during my stay.

We have been landlords in Bournemouth for 14 years, we have just 2 houses which we purchased after our son, who was at Bournemouth University, and his friends experienced pretty awful student accommodation. We have tried to maintain a fairly high standard in our houses over the years and respond as quickly as possible to any problems.
We have been with Christopher Shaw for 6+ years now and have found them so much better than other agents we have used in the past. The student tenants we have had also seem to have had no complaints about Christopher Shaw.
Unfortunately as landlords we have seen good and not so good tenants. Of those who are not so good most do not take responsibility for issues or damage they have caused. Much of this may be due to inexperience. For example not realising that a fridge needs to remain closed as much as possible, needs to have food in it and food needs to be cold when put in the fridge. Then they complain their food is going off and that the fridge is at fault. Or complaining about damp and mould when they do not ventilate the room, dry their hair and clothes in the room and are unaware that each person breathes out a considerable amount of moisture each night whilst sleeping. That moisture, water vapour, will then condense on the coldest surface which could be the furniture or walls, when the heating is inadequately used, or on the windows. Mould will then grow in these damp areas. Many tenants think they have done a wonderful cleaning job at the end of the tenancy but often it has been left to the last person remaining in the house who then leaves it to the last minute, is often resentful of being left to do it and does a poor job. The other tenants, all the tenants, then complain when they are charged for cleaning. We have been left out of pocket many times in returning the property to a good standard for the next tenants. Conversely we have had several who tenanted our properties in year 2 at University then returned for their final year after being away in placement or tenanted in year 2 and stayed on for year 3. We have had some great tenants who have done their best to look after the property and treated it with respect as their home. We thank those tenants and hope we will be fortunate to have others like them in the future. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Christopher Shaw, Chris, Amanda, Matt, James and Lloyd in particular, thank you.

Lloyd and especially Matt are two gentlemen who I recommend to deal with as they seemed to me to be genuine and trustworthy which I find are traits that are rare to come across.

Would leave less than 1 star if I could. Me and my friends haven’t even moved into our new student house yet and we wish we had never used this company. One of our friends has had to pull out of university, so she can no longer take her place in the house and the agency are being incompetent/obstructing when it comes to us finding a replacement tenant. Potential tenants that we have forwarded to the company have been messed around when it comes to booking viewings and getting more information. I tried to get a viewing for a tenant and on two occasions I called, I was told on both occasions that someone would get back to me, and they never did. The same goes with this same person contacting the agency about fees, and having both his emails and calls ignored. They lost the professional photos of the house, so we can’t show pictures to tenants, nor can they ever view the house.I am very unimpressed with the level of unprofessionalism shown towards students by this company,

Mike Boon is a fantastic real estate agent. He has set a new standard in estate agency. He understood my needs to sell the property better than I did. It wasn’t an easy time due to non-standard type of property, thankfully he came up trumps though, never loosing hope. He proceeded to market our home in a professional manner, took great photos that showed the home in the best possible light. He showed prospective buyers round and gave very useful feedback on the viewing. He found the right buyer and then managed the sale in a prompt fashion. His communication skills are superior, and in all honesty, he guided me through the experience giving support along the way. Mike was instrumental in making this sale happen, I doubt many other estate agents would be as committed or determined. The man could sell ice to Eskimos! The team as a whole are very helpful with thanks going to the letting side of the business, Matt and Amanda for close to 7 years of successful rental, apart from the utterly ridiculous costs of their chosen "maintenance team" the service is first class.

I recently rented an apartment through Christopher Shaw for my parents and from the start to finish of the tenancy they were fantastic. Always professional, responsive and very helpful. We carry out a lot of maintenance and repair work for Christopher shaw in regards to Gas appliances/plumbing and heating works and we have found them a pleasure to work for. They are very organised, the tenants always seem happy and haven’t been kept waiting to have a repair carried out for days on end. All the tenants and landlords we have dealt with on behalf of Christopher shaw seem very happy and overall I think they are a very good letting agent which is more than can be said for other agents we have worked for in the past. Keep up the good work guys!

I rented with Christopher Shaw and received absolutely fantastic service throughout my time there. Right from the moment I found my property, the team were extremely helpful and efficient with getting all the paperwork processed without any hiccups-- so I could move in within a week. They then ensured that my move was wonderfully smooth and provided a really thoughtful moving in gift which was a lovely touch!
Throughout my tenancy the office were in regular contact, responded to messages extremely promptly and whenever maintenance issues arose they got them resolved in a timely manner. Move out was also as efficient and they had my check out and deposit returned to me within 48 hours. All in all I was delighted with my experience and would encourage others to rent with them in future!

Our experience working with Christopher Shaw was First-Class!
We would highly recommend Christopher Shaw – our experience working with Matt Dilkes who heads up the Lettings Division was Excellent – very diligent, professional, honest and down to earth. We really felt Matt went the extra mile in terms of working with us to ensure we found the perfect house and Matt was instrumental in terms of liaising on our behalf with the Landlord so our requirements were met at the outset of the tenancy. Also the online process to complete the paperwork was simple and efficient making the complete experience stress free!
We also received a moving-in box of useful goodies with all those little bits you need on the “move-in day” when you can’t find anything – it was a nice touch and really helpful!

So far very impressed! Me & my partner are both students, we moved into a very well kept & modern flat in bournemouth town centre. The agents explained every cost we would have to pay clearly and were very helpful to accomodate our questions. Upon picking up the keys we were even given a welcoming package with a few little bits to help us get through our move in which was lovely! These people are certainly better than other landlords i've had in the past. Definitely recommended.

This was our first buy-to-let project and we don’t live in Bournemouth area, so there were many variables we weren't sure about. Christopher Shaw were very helpful not only in terms of helping us find a suitable property – the one we ended up buying wasn’t one we’d chosen ourselves, but recommended by them – but also in getting the deal done. Through their contacts, they helped us get a good deal. As a renovated building, there were many complications despite a short chain, but Christopher Shaw were very helpful, very patient and very persistent to help get the deal over the line. They also helped us find a tenant, and offered to go above and beyond when it came to getting the tenant in and settled. By far our best experience with any estate agent, so we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. There is a such a good thing as a good estate agent after all. Nice people.

Throughout this period I have received an excellent professional service from the company. One star is generous If you notice, the 5 star reviews follow the same structure of positivism however I found out this is not the case. Our first problem began when we was given the incorrect key to enter the property. This took over an hour to resolve and was incredibly frustrating. If you are a student, then you are not considered a valued client. Your point of view and explanation is ignored and the hidden costs of issues that can be resolved without the need of contractors is an extreme exploitation. The house we rented did not even supply the bare minimum and we were punished by the ridiculous standards that Christopher Shaw expect. Previous rubbish from past tennants was documented and used against us and ignored our complaints. Our neighbours constant erratic complaints were taken seriously even after proven to be false and we were left with the blame. Ive never hated a company more. In summary they treat landlords well, but absolutely do not rent here

Worst agency i ever faced with! Once you get a property from them, they will always try to avoid dealing with any problems occuring after. After moving in we realised that the fridge was full of mold and the sink was leaking. It took them one week to change the fridge for us. As a result we had to throw away all out food we brought with us and eat in take-aways for the whole week. Electricity bills were inadequate at the beginning and we had to search for a compromise to reduce the sums for 2 months. Old carpets had secret life inside them, namely carpet beetles. They were biting me for over a month - that's how long it took them to call Pest Control to stop that nightmare. They were never willing to help unless threatened with complaining about their service. They might be a good agency for landlords but definitely not when it comes to tenants. I advice to stay away from Christopher Shaw.

I have dealt with a lot of student estate agents since my son joined Bournemouth Uni a few years ago. Matt Dilkes from Christopher Shaw has undoubtedly been the best experience for myself, my son Scott and his 3 house mates.
Matt was on the ball, well informed about property in the area, gave us many options and pointed out realistically the positives and negatives of all of them objectively.
We eventually chose a pretty new property with all bills included and very close to local shops and the Uni. Matt gave us lots of background on the landlord and this gave us great comfort that any issues would be dealt with positively by both Christopher Shaw or the landlord himself. It was clear this landlord specialises in student accommodation and has a good relationship with Matt and the agency.
Matt also led us through the admin process extremely well....nagging when he needed to!
The boys moved in 3 weeks ago, the place was immaculate (very rare in my experience) and they are happy, safe, warm and delighted.
Thanks Matt, would come back again and recommend you to anyone!

I cannot recommend Christopher Shaw enough. We have just purchased our first property from Christopher Shaw and the whole process has been smoother than i ever imagined. They show that they really care about what they are doing, there is never a hard sell and they are just normal people doing a job. Always replied to emails within a matter of minutes and always on the end of the line answering any stupid questions. Even when Matt went on holiday for a week Mike hlped with the whole process. I've been with Christopher Shaw for nearly three years now and as a newcomer to this area with two children to consider, they have always treated my needs and requests for places to rent with honesty, respect and diligence at all times. I've rented all my life, and I can honestly say that the team at Christopher Shaw are in a league of their own. Given that moving house is supposed to be one of the most stressful events you can go through, their helpful and motivating attitude really helps things! There's none of that horrid 'us and them' feeling you get with other letting agents. Matt in particular has always bent over backwards to ensure my little family and I are looked after and in suitable homes. They are courteous, efficient, friendly and flexible to your needs, I would not go to anyone else now, they're the best! Thanks, guys!

Rubish letting agents would never recomend this company to anyone.
Rented for 3 years the house was not in a good way when we moved on so redocorated they took 3 years to put kitchen cupboards back on wall even though reported god knows how many times plug sockets falling off wall exposing wire with young children in the house again reported nothing done they had too many maintenance people coming and going house inspections waste of time as things reported were never done the whole 3 years we were there a rubidh agency full of lies is our opinion.
When we moved out we cleaned carpets with hired carpet cleaner costing £100 and repainted all walls and they tried charging us over 300 for cleaning when the property was mot clean when we moved in or tenant before us DO NOT RENT !!!

Appalling communication and support. Been without heating for the last 2 months, still haven't been able to establish who are bills are with. Flat was in an awful condition when we moved in with a sketchy, incomplete inventory that would have no doubt left us with deductions in our deposit. Countless issues. Will never use again.
