About Christopher Shaw Residential

Founded in 2007 in the middle of a major downturn in the property market, With a mission to improve and innovate the estate agency service that was being offered locally and stamped with my name to show complete confidence in the service.


The company offers a complete spectrum of property services and equally offer for sale or rent a complete spectrum of property styles and values throughout Bournemouth and Poole. We offer the service levels, facilities and technology of a large corporate estate agency but with an owner managed office enabling us to offer a personal and bespoke service.


As you will see by the staff bio's we have a real focus and are extremely proud to say that team are the back bone of the business. Each staff member has a complete dedication experience and knowledge to there relevant role and have been hand picked by me to run the departments mirroring the passion that I have for the business.

Not good at all, were unable to sort out issues revolving tenants and blamed all tenants for issues, other than taking responsibility for themselves or helping the tenants out. Lack of professionalism while communicating over emails and will assume one tenant to log in and become nominated payee for distributing the deposit money after tenancy. Instead of securing your funds, they will leave the money with a housemate (who logs in first) after tenancy without confirming that it is okay with the rest of the house hold. Make sure the person who distributes the deposit money is a trustworthy member as otherwise Christopher Shaw workers will tell you it is not their problem and to take it further with the police. They have provided us no security with our deposits after tenancy and will charge you for damages that were not there in the first place.

Professional from beginning to end. Lloyd Lambe guided me through the process. They aren't the cheapest but worth every penny for the way they handle the process. I would recommend them to anyone buying or renting.

My brother spoke to someone about viewing a flat, they gave him a time and date to view but when he got there he was stood outside the property for 45 minutes as the estate agent failed to show up or phone to let him know they weren't going to be there. After complaining about what happened he then arranged another viewing of the same flat a few days later - the estate agent showed up and was very unprofessional and didn't have much information to share with him. He was told that he would be contacted within a few days to let him know if he had been accepted. The estate agent failed to email him and once he had got in contact her response was 'if you haven't been contacted then someone else has probably already taken it'. If the estate agent had shown up on the day he arranged the viewing the first time then my brother would have had a chance in actaully getting the flat. She was very unprofessional and I would highly recommend being very careful with this company when looking at renting a property.

In August last year, I had been accepted for a placement in Bournemouth and with the placement beginning in September, was in a rush to secure a place to stay. I got into contact with a few landlords and agencies but Christopher Shaw was the one that stood out the most.

Being a student who moved away a very long distance from home for the first time, Christopher Shaw made it very easy and stress free for me. Whether it was through the initial process or any issues I had in regards to my room, I felt confident with Christopher Shaw helping me out.

They made the process swift and pain free, answering any questions I had, something that I felt was important for a student looking to move away a long way from home for the first time.

I dealt mainly with Matt & on a few occasions Lloyd and I have to say their professionalism was what made me commit to renting a room in a house share with Christopher Shaw.

Upon moving in, there were a few issues I noted in regards to the room such as a broken socket and the wardrobe being somewhat flimsy. Both of these issues were addressed within 2-3 days of me getting into contact with them without a problem.

Looking at earlier reviews from students, I saw that some had bad experiences but from my own personal experience this was the complete opposite. I can say that I would definitely recommend any student Christopher Shaw if you are looking for a room to stay in!

Finally I just want to give an honorable mention to Matt, who was pretty much my main point of contact, for being extremely helpful during my stay.

Over the past few weeks, I have been helping someone find new housing and I am so thankful to have met Lauren Sweatland from Christopher Shaw Residential. She has been an absolute delight to work alongside this past month. Her communication skills are incredible, her emails are prompt and extremely dense with all the information we could have possibly needed. She has been amazing at keeping us informed about any changes, communication from the landlady, the whole process to solidify the booking of the flat. To All residents or students and visiting must aware from this agency Christopher show how they deal with Clint without respectively when they leave them as much as they could to deaseption yours.I might when they meeting you as first time with smile to showing frindley faces I have been dealing with them for many years unfortunately get rid of you depolmatic way they denied all the period spent with them such shame for the egncy to do so.
Also no one deal with they professional represent james Tiller his untrustful person deeply resis person they only provide you the owful accommodation if you are international or forgin shame for the company employee really unjustified however we are in 2020.

We have been landlords in Bournemouth for 14 years, we have just 2 houses which we purchased after our son, who was at Bournemouth University, and his friends experienced pretty awful student accommodation. We have tried to maintain a fairly high standard in our houses over the years and respond as quickly as possible to any problems.
We have been with Christopher Shaw for 6+ years now and have found them so much better than other agents we have used in the past. The student tenants we have had also seem to have had no complaints about Christopher Shaw.
Unfortunately as landlords we have seen good and not so good tenants. Of those who are not so good most do not take responsibility for issues or damage they have caused. Much of this may be due to inexperience. For example not realising that a fridge needs to remain closed as much as possible, needs to have food in it and food needs to be cold when put in the fridge. Then they complain their food is going off and that the fridge is at fault. Or complaining about damp and mould when they do not ventilate the room, dry their hair and clothes in the room and are unaware that each person breathes out a considerable amount of moisture each night whilst sleeping. That moisture, water vapour, will then condense on the coldest surface which could be the furniture or walls, when the heating is inadequately used, or on the windows. Mould will then grow in these damp areas. Many tenants think they have done a wonderful cleaning job at the end of the tenancy but often it has been left to the last person remaining in the house who then leaves it to the last minute, is often resentful of being left to do it and does a poor job. The other tenants, all the tenants, then complain when they are charged for cleaning. We have been left out of pocket many times in returning the property to a good standard for the next tenants. Conversely we have had several who tenanted our properties in year 2 at University then returned for their final year after being away in placement or tenanted in year 2 and stayed on for year 3. We have had some great tenants who have done their best to look after the property and treated it with respect as their home. We thank those tenants and hope we will be fortunate to have others like them in the future. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Christopher Shaw, Chris, Amanda, Matt, James and Lloyd in particular, thank you.

I feel the need to share this and I hope it may be helpful to others. I’ve dealt with Christopher Shaw twice and I don’t have a bad word to say about them. Lloyd and especially Matt are two gentlemen who I recommend to deal with as they seemed to me to be genuine and trustworthy which I find are traits that are rare to come across.

STUDENTS STAY AWAY

Would leave less than 1 star if I could. Me and my friends haven’t even moved into our new student house yet and we wish we had never used this company. One of our friends has had to pull out of university, so she can no longer take her place in the house and the agency are being incompetent/obstructing when it comes to us finding a replacement tenant. Potential tenants that we have forwarded to the company have been messed around when it comes to booking viewings and getting more information. I tried to get a viewing for a tenant and on two occasions I called, I was told on both occasions that someone would get back to me, and they never did. The same goes with this same person contacting the agency about fees, and having both his emails and calls ignored. They lost the professional photos of the house, so we can’t show pictures to tenants, nor can they ever view the house.I am very unimpressed with the level of unprofessionalism shown towards students by this company,
