I have very recently purchased a new Devonshire Homes property in Kingsbridge Devon. The sales staff Charlotte and Catherine were very helpful throughout the buying process and this continued until the hand over took place. Nothing was too much trouble and my experience so far has been positive and good.... Read more

I moved in to a new home built by Devonshire Homes back in January and absolutely love it. Susie and Yves in the sales office were very helpful and efficient. The buying process was hassle free and quick. The quality of finish is excellent with some thoughtful details included that are often left out by house builders. Having lived in new homes built by much larger developers such as Charles Church and Persimmon, the build quality and value from Devonshire Homes is far superior. Any questions I have had since moving in have been quickly answered by their customer service department that you can actually get hold of! The house was also immaculately clean when I moved in and I was shown round when collecting the keys and told how everything works. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.... Read more

Having recently purchased a Devonshire Home I am very happy with my new house. The sales executives Susie and Yve at Longston Cross Bovey Tracey were extremely helpful and kept me updated during the build. They were also very prompt and professional in responding if I had any queries. It is a lovely house in a beautiful location.... Read more

I live at The Tors. The loft doors are substandard and come off easily which is dangerous and caused me considerable distress when I had to have my loft fumigated to get rid of flies. The loft door fell off and out shot thousands of flies into every room of my house. I then had to sleep on the sofa because of the fumes and try to sleep with hundreds of crazy dying flies. I then spent three days trying to hoover them up. All because of a cheap loft cover.
Once I had agreed to buy the house it was impossible for me to get the extras promised such as shed, outdoor tap, fitted wardrobes. These extras were false promises.
My cooker hob was scratched when I moved in which I reported. They said they would order me a new one which never materialised.
I was never informed of the service charge.
Apart from that the house is nice.... Read more

Just saw this story on their website -- "Devonshire Homes awarded 'Outstanding in Customer Satisfaction 2018' by In-House Research".
What a load of total rubbish!!!
It must be a company they pay to say whatever they want them to as a lot of other owners on the development where we live have had nothing but BAD experiences both before and after moving in!
Would I buy another NEW home ... Probably.
Would I buy another DEVONSHIRE HOMES property - DEFINITELY NOT!!!... Read more

Worst built homes imaginable.. extremely rude staff, 4 years on and still having to have regular, major work done to keep our property and surrounding areas standing! Such a poor build our property was deemed unable to meet building regulations 2 years in as we came across a serious issue and major repairs works needed. Stay well clear!... Read more

Unfortunately we had a slightly negative experience during a viewing at Tarka View. My mum and Dad are looking to buy in the area and although we went to see a beautiful house, the reception from the saleswoman was frosty to say the least. Admittedly we did arrive at 4:15 on a Friday afternoon, but she made no effort at all to promote or sell the house. We had one word, short and abrupt answers and sometimes she didn’t even look up from her computer!
She seemed very happy to talk to another visitor. When we left we even saw the same woman giving a tour to someone else! A big contrast to the treatment my parents received.
When we asked to look at the plan of the house in the folder, again we received a reluctant response and when my dad asked to see the plan of the garden, it felt as if we were asking her for the moon!
Overall the experience was highly uncomfortable and negative and she demonstrated a lack of interest.
I hope that no one else has this experience and I hope next time we have a more positive time!... Read more

We have recently moved to a property that is in a wonderful location and was built in 2013 by Devonshire Homes (the original buyer bought it as an investment, rather than a residence, and did not therefore have the opportunity to identify most of the shortcomings in design and function that we subsequently discovered). Anyone considering a new home built by Devonshire should inspect the property very carefully and look out for the following:
1. The garage door entrances are too narrow to admit most standard-sized motor vehicles except with difficulty.
2. Fitted wardrobes have hanging space only; none has shelves for storage of clothes, and the depth of some of the wardrobes is too shallow to accommodate a standard-sized coat hanger.
3. The baths are oversized, and if you move to an area with low water pressure it takes very long to fill the bath, by which time the water is getting cold.
4. The toilets are suspended/wall hung and prone to leakage at the vulnerable wall/toilet junction.
5. The under floor heating system is housed within an unventilated cupboard unit in a closet, and the system overheats and cuts out unless the poor ventilation is rectified.
6. The finish on the garage floor peels off in flakes, which tend to be carried indoors.
7. Many of the treads of the indoor staircase have not been properly varnished, sanded and stained.
8. The design and layout of the kitchen are poor; there is no conventional work triangle of fridge-hob-sink, and no shelves and insufficient cupboards for storage.
9. No outdoor tap has been installed to water the garden.
10. The mixer tap for the bath in the guest bathroom is fitted too close to the wall and can only be opened fully at the extremes of temperature, not in the middle where the temperature is warm. This is a danger for young children.
11. The patio has been laid above the damp-proof course and this carries a risk of damp at the lower ground level.... Read more

If Devonshire Homes put as much effort in to their after sales customer service as they do their pre sales they would be a great company to deal with, unfortunately this is not the case.
They are poor at returning calls and have a site manager who is rude, fobs everything off and thinks it's acceptable for us to have had the garden (pictured) for OVER A YEAR despite numerous complaints. He disregards second and third opinions choosing only his much cheaper, cost cutting options.
Our actual house, we love and have had only a few minor issues, however the gardens they provide are appalling. They use very cheap turf which is patchy and uneven and they cut corners at every given chance. These houses are not cheap and one of their selling points is the garden. I would highly recommend refusing the garden which they offer and getting a reputable company to do it for you. Devonshire Homes option is more trouble than it's worth and almost impossible to get put right.... Read more
