I have was renting from these for 15 years and HLGB are without a doubt the biggest liars, and manipulators as well as being insanely lazy. It took over a year to repair a roof which was dripping on my autistic son’s bed. Then they had the cheek to try and keep my deposit. The DPS overruled them and found in my favour so never let them bully you like they will try.
Thank god I moved out two years ago. It’s one of those experiences you have to laugh at how bad the service was or you would cry.

Positive it is the right company. Bill showed me round the flat. Jennifer was my contact when I was there.

Very bad experience with HLGB
The apartment was pretty filthy when we moved in, and things were in bad condition (sofa, blinds, fridge)
We also had to pay over £900 deposit.
So we thought thar the things were broken will be fixed over time. But not much was done.
The agency guy knew about all the issues we had with the apartment and in two years he only came once. I thought he would do something about our issues but nothing was fixed then.
Our shock was when we moved out they took over £400 from our deposit for cleaning (carpet, and general cleaning) but the apartment was already cleaned (we cleaned it before we left) and it looked better than how we first acquired it!
I would avoid these people if possible.... Read more

You will have to constantly chase them down to get a response about their properties, they will have people already lined up for properties and still drag you on and waste your time, only to phone you on the way to viewings that theyre taken or get an email the day it becomes “available” saying it’s taken. Time wasters or incompetent not sure which is worse. Avoid using these “agents” jokers.... Read more

Shambolic experience. Surely only a matter of time before they feature on rogue traders. Rented a flat with them for around 2 years. Their standards are abhorrent and the state of the property when I moved in was sickening. It was very much a case of "Here are your keys, it's your problem now".
Numerous problems over the years included complete negligence towards their tenants, not fixing serious issues with the property and little/no response to my complaints. The final kick in the teeth was them attempting to take my deposit through desperate, extortionate means (£200 for a 'light clean'). The irony and cheek of the situation was unbelievable considering they had allowed me to move in to a property that was so filthy it took me 12 hours to personally clean.
The staff were all fairly polite (to my face), although obviously incompetent. There was one strange moment in which a certain employee had entered my property for an arranged check up. I walked into my kitchen and found them peering in to my fridge, I assumed they were merely checking the cleanliness (again, ironic). When I said hello, the employee looked shocked and was snacking on a cheese string from my fridge. He pretended it was his already, and it was incredibly awkward. They were a shambles start to finish. We arranged to check in to our rented property 3 weeks in advance. About 1 hour before, as we were driving there, the agent called asking if we want to move in today...? He said the property is in a state. Naturally, it is expected to move into a clean flat. So we arrived given we were on the way already. When i say there was poo on the walls, I mean there was actually poo on the walls. I have never seen such a dirty place. There was cannabis in between the sofa, as well as food, sauce, and that's just the beginning. Well done HLGB part 1.
First thing that stuck me was that he was a big lad.
The repairs system was shocking throughout. One time we had a flood and no water (it was a fairly new building). I was out of the country so my flatmate dealt with HLGB about this. I was out of the country for a further week. When flying back, my housemate told me the problem was still not fixed. I arrived back, now more than a week since it was first (of many times) reported, to a property with no water and a seriously properly flooded carpet - which was never repaired and stained then onwards. I told HLGB I would stay in a hotel and bill them - it was then that they finally brought someone out - only about 9 days of no water later.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. The agency cancelled 2 properties the last minute that required me to travel across half the country and when the train tickets were already bought they called me last minute to cancel 2 of the properties stating that 1 is still available and will continue to be viewed as scheduled. After having arrived in the place, I found out that apparently the key for the flat is "missing". The agent said sorry but there is nothing he can do about it. Oh, also, the agent appears to be working in the industry for over 2 years. So, in other words, having travelled with train across half of the country was completely for nothing thanks to HLGB. Be careful, as over the phone they sound really warm and professional while in reality they really are not.... Read more

We rented a property from HLGB and had no serious problems during our time with them.
There were a few minor things wrong with the property but the maintenance company had them all sorted within a few weeks.
Communication with HLGB was good throughout the tenancy and the handover was a breeze.
I can thoroughly recommend them to rent property through.

Got shown around a property by one of the estate agents Bill, he told us credit history does not matter as long as our wages can afford the rent so we paid £150 for the referencing checks. They came back to us and said we failed because of our credit history. Bill lied about what he told us, they are just after your money, STAY WELL CLEAR OF THESE THIEVES!... Read more

Rented from them for 5 years. Then they send me an eviction notice that states they want to make more money by splitting the property. Also no repairs done in over 6 months. I have to drive to the gym daily to shower. No oven and no central heating. I will see them in court soon and I suggests you stay far away from this company. They are cowboys and have no morals at all. Also during inspections they photography your cupboard. Inside your fridge everywhere. Totally illegal but they do it. Awful communications, had a leak issue in the bathroom of the apartment I rented from HLGB and after notifying them they were extremely lax in dealing with it and after numerous ignored emails I sent them including other issues, I only managed to get it sorted by liasing with the buildings maintenance management myself. The leak, which was ongoing over the course of many months caused mold and mildew in the bathroom and HLGB charged me for it. They also charged me over £100 for dust on the skirting boards despite scaffolding being up against the building and major repair work had been ongoing for over 6 months. Since I rent my flat with HLGB more than 30 months ago, I did have a lovely time with this agency. I remember when I first stated to do an application, they were very organised and very helpful to make thing happened in exact timining as I wished. Jennifer has made all the efforts to make my move an easy and devoid of stress. Meeting Mr Bill Burns in the viewing and at the inventory, was such a nice memories, will keep forever. He is such a desent fair genteman who do his job in a way that majes everyone happy. He was the best person to have this link go happily between me and the agency. Throughout me stay there, communication was more than fantastic when needed. They respond swiftly and act properly to solve any issues. The process of check out was again , another such positive one. Mr Robert Harwood was very fair and realistic in this hard step, that I was stressed about, and to honest, he make the check out such an easy and noce experience to remember before handing the keys.
