Living in Bridlington and having to sell my parents property in Louth I was unsure of which estate agent to use , however , I just recalled that a board with "John Taylor " on had been outside my grandparents property way back so I decided on that. What a great decision that was, John Taylor have been exceptional from day one to completion, always at the end of the phone with help and advice, great communications as to when viewings would be ( the property was empty and the keys left with John Taylor, and a great understanding that this was not just a house sale to me but the sale of my family home for the last 69 years, the house I grew up in and called home for all those years. Seller Beware!! Really not worth the time or effort of using them. The director is very negative about the housing market and miserable. We did our own viewings so that we didn’t have to have them in the house - be careful once you sign the contract... they changed the terms on us!... Read more

As a tenant of a property managed by John Taylor Lettings I feel that the service provided was excellent. Julie in the office was always professional, polite, friendly and sensitive to our needs and difficulties. We always felt very comfortable raising any issues or concerns with her. During periodic inspections we did not feel uncomfortable as Robert was very personable and accommodating of our privacy. 2 years I have battled with Taylors to rectify the damp, electrical faults and leaks in my roof. I am totally exhausted with the constant battle, I have finally given in and am now going to bow out and look for accommodation elsewhere. Julie Shaw who runs the day to day lettings side is rude, obnoxious, condescending and down right disrespectful...I am made to feel like I should be grateful for the cold, damp, wet and dangerous roof I have over my head, and that I have a cheek for asking Taylors to address the many disrepair issues. Very disappointing make a appointment to view a property giving almost 2 weeks advance warning! They call me 2 days prior and ask if possible to change time as they suddenly had another booking (obviously one that paid a better commission) I told them I couldn't reschedule and to stay with booked appointment! Turned up at appointed time (after an 1 hrs) drive only to be left sitting there waiting, they didn't turn! Disgusting service and will avoid like the plague in future!!... Read more

Myself and my partner submitted an application for a rental property. We were advised that we were successful and then a couple of weeks later a very rude lady from John taylors called to inform us that they had decided to cancel our application and suggested we look for a cheaper property elsewhere. Our joint income was more than sufficient to afford the rent. We work at a local garden centre and were informed by a colleague who knew the landlord that we had a lucky escape.... Read more

It has taken sometime for me to pluck up the courage to write this review, but after having the evening in the local pub speaking to others who have the misfortune of being tenants of John Taylor Estate agents, I have a moral obligation to speak out. Unfortunately, I have to remain anonymous for fear of a revenge eviction. I have battled for years to get repairs done to my property that are the legal obligation of the landlord. The rudeness, disrespect and bullying experienced at the hands of John Taylors has been absolutely disgusting. My property is in a state of disrepair and they refuse to anything about the numerous issues that need addressing. I have been told what do you expect for what you're paying, if you don't like it LEAVE. I have been told that if I don't attend the property inspection when they say, I will be evicted immediately. They inspect but no work is ever carried out. The house is that bad in parts I actually put people off coming around because I am so embarrassed. There are times when I am reduced to tears because of the utter disrepair. The plug sockets are live even when turned off... I actually get small shocks even when touching the plastic surround!! , leaks in the roof, mould on walls and flooring, rotten doors and windows, broken taps, dirty tap water... The list goes on and on Having spent so much of my own money on this house I am loathed to move, but I am fighting a losing battle. No one should be expected to live like this. These agents are shockingly disgusting!! One lady Julie who works there takes it very personally if you make a complaint about your rented property. She takes it upon herself to victimise vulnerable people. I asked for works to be done on numerous occasions only to be told I caused the issues or I didn’t communicate. Wasn’t sure how that was possible. Instead I had to get the environmental health in who reported over thirty faults. Any person who thinks a totally rotten front door that has holes right through to the outside, is acceptable is beyond me. In addition to that the property had a totally poo stained toilet, electrical wires showing, damp and blown out windows, non working filthy bathroom and kitchen. They are a disgrace ! Their staff are rude and arrogant who look down on people who unfortunately have to rent. They are not willing to help in the slightest. I will be taking further action against these corrupt estate agents.... Read more

I've spent the morning making contact with different estate agents. All were very pleasant but none compared with John Taylor's. I spoke with Helen who really did go the extra mile. She genuinely seemed interested in me and, without being asked, filled me in on the local areas of the houses that I am interested in etc. The personal touch, the local knowledge, the friendliness made me think that I would be very happy to deal with this office and hope that we end up buying a house through this estate agent. We started this process with an unnamed chain but quickly changed to john taylors and started to get viewings and offers.
