Had arranged viewing today, one week in advance. Drove 1 and a half hour all the way from to Lincoln to Derby, only to be told that landlord forgot about the viewing and is away with the keys so property is locked.
Ridiculous service.
Highly unprofessional.

I have been with Key Properties for just over 2 years now. They were welcoming and helpful in finding a good property for me, even though I was a student at the time. They were flexible and understanding during applications and have remained that way throughout the two years of tenancy.
Key Properties have always been very accomodating of any needs I had over the two years and really respect you as a tenant when dealing with your privacy, scheduling appointments for repairs/inspections, and contract changes. With the experiences, I have had over the last 4 years of renting, this respect has been the exception not the norm from other letting agents and that is why I felt so comfortable letting from Key Properties.
If I would not be moving away, I would have happily stayed with Key Properties for longer.

Could not be more happier with my experience with Key Properties. We've always felt we were taken cared of. Very responsive to our queries and always prompt to address concerns (not that there was a lot). At some moments, they have gone above and beyond which shows their professionalism. Told them the shower wasn't working properly a bunch of times, no response whatsoever, always slow to email back when there's an issue. The flat was extremely cold to the point where I would sleep with my socks and sweater on, when I contacted them about it they said it wasn't possible because they had installed a new heather prior to me moving in (??). Waited for my security deposit for over a month, they wouldn't respond for weeks to my messages and did deduct 75 pounds for ''cleaning" at the end which is ridiculous since it's only acceptable if there's exessive filth or sth like that which was not the case. Would get the electricians come in with no warning at unconvenient times. Terrible!!!... Read more

Where do I begin? I rented through key properties for the last two years and I can’t seem to understand how they sleep at night. Any issue with the property has to go directly through them in which they will take several days to respond to any issue we had with the property.
- we spent 5 weeks in Jan/Feb (winter) without a working boiler, we had to purchase our own heaters in this time in which skyrocketed the electricity for those months. We still had to pay rent for this time even though the property was unliveable.
- mould. They deal with mould by painting over it before viewings, leading to the mould to grow back thicker and faster, absolutely revolting.
-water through light. During a storm I messaged them explaining that water was pouring out of my light bulb which was on at the time due to structural damage to the roof. THEY DIDNT EVEN REPLY...
- leak. We had a leak under our sink, once again, days to respond, weeks to fix. By this time the leak extended to under the floorboards bubbling up the wood, ruining the flooring. Once the landlord received his property back he threatened to take us to small claims do to the “destruction” of his property. This was all entirely Key Properties fault for not caring or responding to genuine concerns and issues with the property we updated them with.
After all this, we STILL lost 3/4s of our deposit.
If you can, avoid using this estate agents. They are worse than Humphrey’s believe it or not.... Read more

I've been with them for 2 years now and they don't seem to dissapoint. Even though they have multiple properties to manage, they always have time for each individual.
They are sensible people with whom you can have a conversation with and talk about any concerns or issues or they can simply help you with new properties, whatever you require really.
I would highly recommend them for your student and non student letting needs. As I have not bought a house, I don't have a say on that aspect of the company, but I imagine they would be spectacular there as well.

Absolute criminals.
- Left our back door unlocked and window open after a viewing
- Paid £250 for a full end of tenancy clean (through them) and they proceeded to charge us another £50 as there was mould in the bathroom. The mould was clearly due to the lack of ventilation in the bathroom, and the state of the bathroom, shower and toilet (not properly installed leaving a moist draft from the wall/flooring). Not to mention the fact they should have cleaned it for £250!
- Changed our locks without prior notice and hence locked us out of our own house!... Read more

Constantly having to call to get boiler fixed, leaks and blockages sorted out and worst of all the property was so unbelievably dirty. The whole place was just falling apart. I was excited to move into the property after having a friendly welcome from the small team at Key Properties. Moved into the property and was faced with no working boiler, or heating for a few weeks. Bathroom and kitchen falling apart, holes in walls which led outside. Would have house viewings with little to no notice (would send notices to wrong email or less than 24hrs before they planned to visit), and as someone with major anxiety, waking up to strangers walking around the property wasn't pleasant. Communication with agency was poor, wouldn't listen to me when my contact details changed so contact after this point was limited. Would receive strange bills after we moved out with no receipt or information about them.
Overall my housemates and I felt like cash cows being milked hundreds for a sub standard property. Glad I'm renting with the agency I am currently. Plenty of more proffessional agencies in the area... Read more

Simply terrible and unprofessional. Initially travelled down to Derby from London to look at one of their properties, this was planned a week before. Within minutes of being in Derby i got a text that initial property was no longer available and was given a new property to view. Got to the property which was under major construction, no furnishings except half done ensuites. Was told place would be ready in time for my moving in. Got back to London and all correspondence with the letting agent came off nonchalant on his part. But i was encouraged to pay the agency fees as a sign i was definitely interested, which of course i found suspect especially since the property was a hazard zone. Literally 3 days before move in after requesting tenancy agreement and pictures of state of the property i was TEXTED, not even a call, that the landlord had withdrawn the property. Luckily i had not sent the processing/agency fees. Extremely unprofessional behaviour and i would not recommend this agency at all.... Read more

Fantastic. Customer service is absolutely brilliant, quick response when a problem is discovered in the property being rented and is also fixed in quick time also. Provided us with all the relevant information needed about the property. Also go the extra mile when we cannot find a property to rent from them and will offer temporary accommodation. By far the best letting agent I have been with.
