Avoid this Borough. Council will constantly harass you for money! When you don't owe it. You try and get help to resolve this problem. They don't help, don't reven respond to you, and don't care about the people in the Borough. Only money is what they care about. Council tax team are absolute vultures when it comes to money. You can make information given to them clear as day (I underlined and pointed out to them where the important information is on documents) but still couldn't understand. Really are imcoppetant. My partner and I are moving out of the area because of the council!... Read more

On hold for 15 minutes but 1 in the queue. Absolute nightmare this council is. The towns dying. No doubt the over paid managers will say they've got no money. Yet they apoeare to be funding a bunch of extreme Marxists to occupy a shop in prime location town centre. The single worst council I have ever had to deal with! I deal with Staffordshire moorlands and Stoke on Trent city council for work and they are very helpful an knowledgeable. Newcastle just think they can throw their weight around with threats, not bother looking after the local area, not bother collecting bins properly and we must all bow down and pay a "premium" over other local areas for a disgusting service!... Absolutely by far the worst customer service I have ever known. Anyone looking at buying or renting property in the area I would highly recommend avoiding the area like black plague. Not a single conversion has ever been straight forward I would give negative stars if possible.... Read more

Very poor Council. Taxi policy very weak. Taxi knowledge test very poor. Must be off by heart test not GPS navigation . CRB checks poor. No English language- needs verbal and written test. and employment status - Right to work in UK documents. Recommendations: Taxi drivers must fill in form in front of licensing officer ( whether new application or renewal). Strict rules taxi test needed. More routes and alternate papers around.... Absolutely awful unprofessional service from council tax enquiry woman with D as your first initial. Customer service is not about shouting, huffing, puffing and providing unrelated information. Train your front line staff well. Not everyone who picks the phone to call wants to receive a substandard service. Shameful.... Read more

Been almost four weeks (friday 4th week) since (waste) skips have been emptied. Phoned Newcastle council offices twice last week to see if the problem would be resolved, still nothing with no real explanation. Getting beyond a joke now, considering in the property I live in there is approximately over 20 residents who also use the bin area. The waste (bin bags) is now covering floor area by the skips. Ive held bags in my property which is now making my property smell. It won't be long im sure before the local rats will find a new feeding ground if they've not already arrived. Ive never had any problems with newcastle under lyme council untill now and its a real shame. Its also a shame cannot upload the photos on here.... Read more

Had 2 spare bags of waste not collected today, first time it has ever happened but when I rang the council the 'usual' rule of thumb is that they empty your bin but not excess waste. What's more is that the two bags weren't put back into the bin, they have just been left outside on the pavement where cats could of got at them and scattered waste all over the street. Its ever likely the review score on Google is shocking. Not even got thr decency to say anything to me as I leave my house this morning! Shocking... Read more

My blue bin hasn't been emptied. Reason there was a sweet wrapper put in it. I live near a shop, the school children walking past may well put a sweet wrapper in the bin, how sensible. The council is ridiculous in its policy of saying it is not policy to take a bin if its 'contaminated' . That's absurd ,it's a sweet paper not highly toxic chemicals. The council accepts our money doesn't it, paper or plastic and sometimes metal. They don't suddenly say that's contaminated, and cannot collect it do they. What Hypocrisy.... Read more

Moved into a new property couple weeks after getting the keys. Property was empty and unfurnished during this time. I was charged full council tax for this period and only had my single person discount applied after the move in. Had identical move in process previously in the Moorlands and Stafford and neither time was I charged council tax for an unfurnished property I had not moved into yet. Absolutely ridiculous.... Sadly, the option to select no stars in unavavailable, thus making it impossible to accurately rate this shameful council. Recklessly spending on itself, bullying the vulnerable and disabled residents of the Borough and imposing ludicrously inappropriate levels of council tax, while all the time overseeing the chilling decline of a once attractive market town into a wasteland of cheapjack shops - the charity ones are the designer outlets here - and dismal licenced premises.
