I was very impressed with the response I received from Open Property Group when I made an enquiry about the possibility of buying my house when my sale was about to fall through. Jason was very helpful, I had an offer and advice within 24 hours. In the end I didn't go ahead with the offer as my original buyer was able to complete, but I would certainly look to use them if similar circumstances arose in future.... Read more

My experience with Open Property Group was really good. I had previously tried to sell using a regular estate agent and had 4 failed sales. I was in a situation where I needed to sell quickly so approached a few quick cash buyers and Open Property Group was the ONLY one that I was able to make a deal with as I have a tenant in place. The price we agreed on was adhered to on completion. It took a little longer than originally planned but the property I was selling was a Leasehold and it took the Freeholder a month to get back to me, so not Open Property Groups fault. You will get less than the value of the house using Open Property Group than if you sold it the traditional way, but if you need to sell quickly then they are a really good option. I would definitely use them again if the situation arose.... Read more

I had a flat with a short lease, a tenant in situ and what was described in a survey in words to the effect that the value would be affected because of it being in an area with social housing. I suspect this property would have been on the market for a very long time if I had not found the Open Property Group online. I spoke to Mr. Harris-Cohen, who I immediately found to be very honest , which is obviously important when you are selecting a company online without personal recommendations. I was given a figure in a short space of time. That figure was later revised once the property had been seen. I had been asked for photographs, which I no longer had. In any event, they would not have reflected the original state of the property when rented it out. It is important for sellers to be honest about the state of their property. Mr. Harris-Cohen was extremely patient when the sale was held up due to difficulties with a property I was purchasing. He was kind enough at Christmas to ask if I wanted him to transfer the deposit over to me, without any prompting from me at all. This was very welcome, particularly with doing less work during the pandemic. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Open Property Group.... Read more

I want to start by saying that overall I'm grateful that the deal went through but certain things could have been better. We contacted OPG in early July as we were fed up with our flat and trying to sell it in the open market. We got an offer that was acceptable and still allowed us to move on. All good in that front. When things progressed, though, we were left with no communication. We only had one point of contact, who at one point was impossible to get ahold of. As we had an onward purchase, it was important to get answers on certain things. My husband called the office several times but this person was always either in a meeting or away, and no one else could give us any information. We got assurances that he would call back. In the end it took over a week to get him to call. This is not what you want, especially when one of the reasons for accepting a significantly lower offer from these companies is it to be hopefully less stressful than normally. Ultimately they did reduce their offer by £10,000 during the process due to the plans stating we had a one bed with an office, not a two bed. I guess this is fair enough, but when you then see them selling it on as a two bed, you might be slightly miffed. But when you're desperate, what can you do? The process did take longer than we originally thought to the point that it was almost holding up our onward purchase (exchanged late September). It was not made any easier by the lack of communication at certain points. I'm happy that we could move on with our lives, but for us the process wasn't as smooth as we'd hoped.... Read more

I only have one property which was bought as a retirement investment. I felt it was the right time to liquidate the asset and plan for my retirement next year. I didn't want the hassle of selling on the open market and I had a pretty good view of what the open market asking price was. I searched for a company that wanted to buy houses and particularly with sitting tenants as my tenant has been with me for 6 years. You will see there are lots of companies out there but I though the reviews of the Open Property Group were honest and described a very professional organisation. I was not disappointed. Jason who dealt with my enquiry answered all of my questions and concerns and made me an offer on the property which I found acceptable. The important thing here is that we were both open and honest about the condition of the house, the location, and what our expectations were. I could have walked away from this at any point in time. One of the good things was that the price agreed is the money I would receive, you can opt for them to pick up all of the legal and conveyancing costs (Not a difficult decision I might add). Jason started the process immediately and the estimated time to completion was very quick. Here's the rub of this story, I had to stop the process and decline the offer. When I had discussed the process with my tenant she reminded me of a promise I had made that if I were to sell the house she would have first option. Quite rightly I had to honour that promise. I explained this to Jason, who by now had made considerable efforts to get the process underway and completed. Jason was totally understanding and was actually pleased for my tenant. We were contacted by Jason within 24 hours of filling in the online form and the conversation was accommodating, professional and non-coercive. He dealt in facts and was very straightforward and direct. A price was offered and agreed and the company never deviated from it. We did have a slight concern as the legal department missed an email from our solicitor but Jason sorted that out too when we rang. We had an issue with our freeholder so the total time of the first phone call to exchange was 18 days and to completion was a month later, but that was the freeholder’s fault.
