Wouldn’t trust this company at all! They lie, bully tenants and then when you complain they kick you out of the property. Failed to provide company complaints policy (4 months later still waiting) Office staff don’t know what they are doing and are extremely unhelpful, not able to give you a straight answer when you call and then fail to call back!! Deduction from bond not acceptable- attempted to charge for items within the property that were not our responsibility! Reported a shower leak and they failed to address the matter which cause damage to the property and attempted to claim the damages from my bond!!!! Avoid this company at all costs!!... Read more

Smooth Moves made our first major move a difficult and stressful affair. They mislead us about the move in date, which we planned our whole move around. This resulted in us having to stay in a hotel for 10 days prior to being able to move in! They flatly denied giving us the original move in date, even though I had a print-out from their website listing. We would not have made all our arrangements without the move-in date being specified. They simply denied what was told to us originally. When we next looked the website entry was also changed. We found them to be extremely unhelpful and inflexible about meeting times. It was always on their terms, no negotiation. We had to collect keys just before their offices closed, even though this was an awkward time for us, given work etc. When we tried to open the doors to the house, the keys did not work. We couldn't raise them on telephone so we had to go back to the hotel for another night. They were unapologetic even though this caused us major inconvenience (again). All throughout our 3 year+ tenancy they showed disregard for us as tenants. We kept the property in very good order (they commended us by letter after each inspection). However, we did not receive equal consideration with regard to our needs. Notifications of leaks, needs for repairs etc were met with delays and required constant follow-up to get any service. Documentation provided by them on more than one occasion contained major clerical errors that we had to point out (figures, names). We even received a full contract with all the personal details of another client (including bank details) filled in, instead of the blank document we were meant to receive. We deleted this and notified them, but were horrified that they are so lackadaisical and have so little regard for client confidentiality and privacy of information laws. On the whole I found them to be contemptuous of tenants and only interested in the financial gain they receive from the transaction. They are quick to follow up on payment errors THEY have made, but slow to respond to our needs. We paid on time, every time and kept meticulous records. Thank goodness we did as on more than one occasion I had to refer to these to see where their errors came in. We developed a good relationships with the landlord himself. On the landlord selling the house, he was happy to provide us with a glowing tenant reference. When we requested one from Smooth Moves, they wanted to charge us for the pleasure. I would NOT recommend them. The fact they mislead us, with serious financial and practical consequences for us, then denied it shows they cannot be trusted. The fact they continually showed poor administrative process, which is basic to their role, just adds to my recommendation to steer clear. If you want a headache, lots of frustration and poor relationship management, then go ahead and use them. I'd recommend you find property agents that are trustworthy and efficient.... Read more

I've been waiting 3 weeks for repairs to be done on the property i live at, ive been patient and called several times and been lied to, Alison (Owner) and Val advised that they were waiting on groves gas to quote for work to the shower, i called groves gas to confirm who advised they had quoted smooth moves over a week ago for the work, so a clear lie from both owner and representative from smooth moves, i was then advised that the quote was too high and they were seeking other quotes, secondly there was a leak from the upstairs flat which was reported a year ago which had caused damage to the ceiling and i have still been waiting on a repair for this! I asked for the landlords details and the very next day after sending an email i have been served with an eviction notice, it is illegal to serve an eviction notice for asking for repairs to be done so no reason was given on the letter, the rent has always been paid on time so i call smooth moves and spoke with Alison who couldn't give a reason as to why an eviction notice has been served giving 2 months notice to leave the property, a bit convenient wouldn't you say? as per the previous reviews below this seems to be a trend when you ask for repairs to be done! Smooth Moves Newport made letting my property a nightmare. I've confusing dealings with them myself and had extremely poor feedback from my tenants. The staff caused needless delay in letting my property, it could've been let at least a month earlier had the letting agents not given incorrect advise to prospective tenants. Unorganized. Unprofessional. I would never use Smooth Moves again and urge anyone to use another agent. Dreadful.... Read more

Alison and her team have been looking after me as a landlord since they opened their offices. I have always found their advice spot on. They are on top of market trends and have never let me down. In an emergency they have made themselves available after hours, and they do scrupulous checks on my potential tenants, which I have always found to be extremely reassuring. On many occasions they have gone above and beyond to provide me with research and figures when my mortgage companies have required it, and I would never hesitate to contact them should I be in a position to need to market one of my properties again, or wish to sell one. They take lots of photos, to truly represent the house, and give honest feedback.All the staff are very well trained which reassures me that I am not likely to get caught out on the stringent regulations that are in force. What more could a seller, or landlord want. Long may their excellent service be available to me and to others seeking a professional and efficient, value for money service.... Read more
