Unfortunately had a less than stellar experience with this estate agent, admittedly in large part due to a fault on my part. Viewing date and time was emailed to me, unfortunately I mistook 15:15 to be 15:30 which is what I put I onto my calendar. Come today, no confirmation text, unlike with other estate agents I'd been dealing with, and no phone call to find out if we'd been delayed or were on our way. We arrive at the property at 15:25 with no estate agent to be seen. At 15:30 I check the email confirmation and discovered that I had, indeed, gotten the time wrong. By all of fifteen minutes. Your estate agent couldn't be bothered to phone us? Or wait even ten minutes? That level of disrespect and discourtesy to your clients speaks volumes. As do many of the other negative reviews left here, it seems. Looks like we dodged a bullet. Might I suggest that in future you simply have an automated confirmation text sent off on the day of viewings? And if clients are held up for whatever reason, a simple courtesy call to find out if there's an issue or a miscommunication? Regardless, I can only apologise for getting the time of the appointment wrong. Much like yourselves, no doubt, I've been dealing with a number of viewing appointments and in this instance I slipped up with the time. However, you're the service provider, not me, pick the phone up and have a smidgen of consideration.... Read more

Wow! - what an amazing service we received from Sorbys. Many thanks to all the team for bringing our recent property sales to fruition, with special thanks to Laura, who negotiated the sales for us. Nothing was too much trouble for Laura; she went the extra mile and totally exceeded all expectations and managed to complete on one of the sales in just 8 weeks! Laura is extremely professional and very friendly, whilst at the same time providing a truthful opinion, which is exactly what we wanted - she also kept us informed of every step of sales progression for both properties, without having to chase ????. The worst imaginable lettings agent. These cowboys will fleece all tenants, especially when it comes to getting your deposit back, despite having paid them over £50,000 in rent over the years!! I would have no hesitation in recommending Sorbys. From valuation & taking photos to dealing with offers and advising us about solicitors, I found Grant and Laura to be knowledgable, friendly and helpful. They responded promptly to emails and gave me good, honest advice. Laura, in particular, always went that extra mile and I really appreciated her communication throughout the progression of the sale. My son rented a property from sorby get service at beginning get the keys etc I reported several things in the property that need attention rang on several occasions to the office which was a waste of time to be honest When my son gave notice on moving out no hand over was done properly by any of sorbys staff When did speak to staff on issues related to the property was a waste of time And after nearly a month of leaving the property has a email regarding a mail box key that my son has never had when moved in the property which was clearly stated in all documentation They clearly do not read there own documents Would not recommend these to anyone very poor customer service from the staff... Initially very good with viewings and arranging the documents and key hand over on a rental property, very good service up to this point, then quickly went down hill Asked for a key to electric meter cupboard very quickly after moving in, 6 months later when I moved out, still hadn't got the key. I was told over the phone they had the key and would come read the meter for me which never happened Turned up to do an inspection without calling first to arrange a convenient time. During this Inspection I reported that the bathroom door wouldn't close, nothing was done about this before I moved out around 3 months later Handled my exit of the property fairly poorly as well... I was with the agency for 5 years (2013 - 2018). The property was clean and tidy, matched the photos and description asvertised and paperwork easily processed. Overall, the service Sorby's provided throughout my time has been fantastic. They always gave quick responses, either via the online portal/email/telephone, to issues and queries and friendly customer interaction. I've not had much experience with landlords, but mine was understanding and efficient when dealing with a problem. He didn't raise the rent during my period in the property, which is important as a tenant and reflects trust and loyalty, although not all landlords are the same. I recommend Sorby's to others and would use the agency again if I'm in the same situation when/if I return to Barnsley.... Read more

David Butler is one of the rudest and most uncouth individuals you will ever have the experience of dealing with. He put the phone down on us twice instead of dealing with the issues.
