Beautiful, gorgeous homes and lovely to live in BUT buyer beware, all is not what it seems!
The finishes are extremely poor, shoddy, and workmanship is atrocious. My property has had over 200 snagging issues in the last 18 months. It is a relentless , stressful, process dealing with customer care and logging calls with them. I do feel sorry for the Customer Care team who have a very tough job and the team are helpful. Well done guys you deserve an award for endurance, thank you.
Moving to a new home is stressful enough, I did expect some snagging issues but not to the extent that it takes up most of our time to address issues that the staff should spot and sort before moving in, e.g. pipes not connected causing flooding, boiler not operational to name a few.
Some tradesmen appear on the wrong day, some are very good at repairing the defects, other not so good and you then have to log the call again. It's like a game of sales and ladders. When you do complain eventually a senior person will attend, then get out clauses are stated such as cracks must be more than so many MM wide before we can fix. So, for example finger width cracks will not be repaired. There is a get out clause for a lot of snagging problems I wish I paid more attention to detail in the documents that were given, but I have learned a valuable lesson. I think you are just so excited to move in to a new home, that you don't think that you will be spending so much time in chasing up defects.
Would I buy another Stewart Milne Home the answer is NO!!. As the saying goes "all that glitters is not gold," this company must review the staff used to build their homes, and attend to the detail in their finishes. Failing this, there will be many more unhappy customers, I appreciate most builders have issues, but I trusted Stewart Milne, after all it is an award winning development. Perhaps this was the case a few years ago, but I would cast serious doubt on that accolade now. Perhaps I have just been unlucky and my situation is unique, but when spending a great deal of money you expect the product to meet expectations. My advise before you buy ask to see the documents in relation to snagging and reporting issues, then you will be know what can and can't be done. So think very carefully before you purchase a new home with Stewart Milne and part with your hard earned cash.
Now that the snagging is nearly complete I am happy with my home it is a beautiful area to live in and the communal grounds are well maintained. So a positive outcome eventually.
So if you are ready to spend an awful amount of time ,effort , exasperation , stress, endless emails ,phone calls, a stream of tradesmen in your home, you will eventually achieve the picture perfect home, within a fantastic development. Troon is a great place to live.
I hope this review has helped both the buyer and Stewart Milne Homes, the customer should be number one. Thanks for taking the time to read my review.
I have carefully considered posting this review as it is something that I would not normally do, but felt I have a moral obligation to make potential buyers aware of what they are getting into.... Read more
