It was a very nice experience dealing with Wilkins Hammond when moving into my new apartment recently. The friendly team made sure my application went as smoothly and quickly as possible. I was updated throughout the entire process and all the staff were always available to answer any questions along the way even till I moved in. I recommend Wilkins Hammond and would always go back to them for any future property transactions.... Read more

TL:DR
Would we recommend Wilkins Hammond to friends, family or business associates: No
We've dealt with a number of letting agencies over the years due to moving around for work. All have been satisfactory; nothing to write home about. They took payment each month, dealt with queries and handled faults promptly. Each one returned the full bond at the end of the tenancy. Let’s face it, when you’re a tenant, you never quite feel like a ‘customer’, even when you do everything by the book. It’s the landlord of course that’s paying for the letting agency’s service and receives the ‘service’.
My wife and I started to save to buy our own property and needed to rent for a while. After a great experience with a letting agency in Sheffield in our first rented property together, we needed more space and found a beautiful old property, with plenty of space, through Wilkins Hammond. From the start, things felt strained and too much trouble with most of the staff we liaised with there. Throughout the tenancy, faults took time to fix. Weeks sometimes. My wife spent a lot of time chasing whilst trying to run a business too. It was frustrating but we loved the property and cared for it like it was our own home.
I believe in leaving constructive reviews so here’s our advice if you choose to rent accommodation through Wilkins Hammond. Before moving furniture in, check the inventory. (They advise you to do that too of course, quite rightly!). Page by page. Photo by photo. Pixel by pixel. Every leaf. Every weed. Every corner. Then go around and take all the same photos, from the same angles so you too have your very own inventory. Make sure you log every scuff, scratch, blemish, nail, screw, etc.
It sounds pedantic, but we were naive and complacent from having such good experiences with other companies and lost some of our bond on this occasion. No hard feelings; money is just money at the end of the day and it’s why you pay a bond to protect both landlord and tenant but we felt disappointed by the whole ‘service’ we had from Wilkins Hammond, from start to finish. We also let them know throughout our time with them about it. We knew at the end of the tenancy, we had to leave a review, to share our opinion, and hopefully help another family to have a better experience than we did. Good luck and happy house hunting!... We rented a property through Wilkins Hammond for 6 months in 2017/18. Their fees were reasonable and they provided an excellent level of service in relation to repairs/maintenance during that time. We had no issues with our bond being returned promptly, and in full, at the end of our tenancy. Highly recommended.... Read more
