I instructed Barkers in early April to sell my house after searching the internet and reviews speaking highly of them. I also had another agent due the next day. Following Chris viewing my house and talking to him, he seemed extremely keen to be given the instruction, saying four times he would like the instruction and saying I could contact him whenever I needed to and he agreed to market for 4 weeks. Both myself and my partner liked him, so we went ahead and cancelled the second agent. However it went downhill from here. We only had 3 viewings from them in the first 3 weeks after the instruction and communications were poor. Chris would rarely answer his phone and I was given his daughter Georgona's contact details who works with him. She mostly communicated by WhatsApp but would not often come back with a timely response. After those three weeks I wanted to give notice, but she persuaded me to find another agent who would work as a joint sole agency which I did. However after 10 weeks, barely any viewings and no offers I decided I had no choice but to give notice. It then appeared that Georgina blocked me on WhatsApp and as I had given notice they weren't going to do anything over that 2 week period. When I called the office to speak to Georgina I was rudely spoken to by a member of staff who answered the phone. There has been interest from about 3 different viewers, but Barkers have been very slow to follow these up and I have had to chase them constantly to ask for any progress. However one of these viewers didn't know how much he could afford and another person was actually looking for his sister and Chris didn't even really know who the buyer was. I had to ask for the key back and when it wasn't returned when Georgina said it would, my partner went to the office the next day to pick it up. I had to remind Georgina to cease the marketing and was told it would be removed from Rightmove by the close of business that day, it wasn't. I sent an email at 08:50 the next morning and it was finally taken down. Everything felt like hard work. I certainly never felt they were trying for me.
