In reaching the ultimate decision to appoint DM & Co to sell our home, we were persuaded by our initial positive encounter with the founder Dominic.
However, our initial impressions and enthusiasm were more than a little dented by two particular aspects of how our transaction was handled.
Firstly, the price at which we were initially advised to market our former home was approximately £90,000 over and above the price that was achieved and shortly after the initial efforts to market the property proved unsuccessful, it was suggested that we should reduce the asking price by £90,000 or thereabouts. We could not understand how the initial assessment could have so far off the final price.
Secondly, having eventually agreed a price with an interested party, which the buyers then sought to renegotiate, we were not promptly advised of a key piece of information about the buyers’ funding, which we contend made a genuine difference to our stance in the negotiations. This resulted in us ultimately accepting a price £9,000 less than that originally agreed.
We ultimately gained the impression that DM & Co’s actions were arguably more focussed on gaining the instruction and thereafter securing the sale and thus the commission due as opposed to enabling us to negotiate the best deal we could have achieved.
