Truly appalling service both as a buyer and prospective seller. This organisation was consistently unprofessional at every stage.
As sellers, the valuer was patronising, speaking to us as if we didn’t understand the market. Their suggested “high to test the market” valuation was actually £5k below the final sale price we achieved elsewhere. They made little effort to understand the property or its features, even dismissing genuinely valuable aspects like off-street parking near the city centre. We chose another agent who actually listened. When Knightsbridge later asked for feedback, they became defensive when we explained our better experience elsewhere.
As buyers, the experience was no better. During viewings, staff rarely knew basic details and repeatedly promised follow-up information that never arrived. Simple questions were brushed off. When my wife asked questions, answers were often directed to me instead, which was both noticeable and unacceptable. Of all the agents we dealt with, only Knightsbridge behaved this way. They frequently asked for feedback but seemed unwilling to engage constructively when it was given.
When we eventually made an offer on a property they were marketing, the process was chaotic. Deadlines were missed, calls went unanswered, and promised updates never came. Calls were often diverted to other branches with no knowledge of the property. Once our offer was accepted, the memorandum of sale wasn’t sent to the vendor’s solicitor for over a week, despite assurances it had been. We had to chase this ourselves.
Throughout the purchase, communication was poor and often aggressive. Conversations frequently ended with threats to relist the property if arbitrary deadlines weren’t met, despite delays being outside our control (e.g. solicitors, lenders). We kept them informed throughout, but when we needed their help obtaining key property information, they were ineffective. At one point, we were told to consider changing lender or accept inaccuracies in their listing. We were even asked whether we “really needed” advertised bedrooms to be usable as such.
The situation worsened when they incorrectly told the vendor we couldn’t obtain a mortgage, despite us clearly explaining that only property-related queries were outstanding. Their attitude suggested this was “our problem.” We ultimately refused to deal with them directly and moved communication through solicitors. Within two days of them relisting the property, the required documents finally appeared.
Even after exchange, issues continued. We arranged (and agreed with them) for a cleaning company to access the property before completion. On arrival, access was denied due to supposed vendor instructions. After contacting the vendor directly, it became clear this confusion stemmed from Knightsbridge’s own miscommunication and lack of organisation. They had failed to inform us of changes, resulting in wasted time and unnecessary stress.
Overall, a deeply frustrating and unprofessional experience from start to finish.... Read more
