I believe that this company is breaking many rules in many ways. Our deposit took 4 months to be returned after much fighting, they quoted us a bogus “missing rent” fee which they claimed took our debts higher than our deposit amount. This all caused extreme distress in an already difficult time.
They messed us around with electrical bills, asking us to sign up to a bill paying service, which we did. Money was never taken from us, so we contacted them and were informed that “Oh, you pay us directly.”
We were informed that to pay our bills, we had to make payments to them over the phone, and despite asking multiple times for a receipt, an invoice, ANYTHING to show that our payments were legitimate, they refused to comply.
Even when we were chasing up the deposit money, they couldn’t prove to the deposit holding scheme that we owed anything apart from the cleaning fee, which we were happy to pay - unfortunately this is usually standard rental practice to pay a large cleaning sum
We were thankfully found in the right by the deposit holding scheme, and we never had to pay the bogus “missing rent” that we didn’t owe. We paid half the electrical bill they were requesting, as they could not come up with any paperwork for it, but we owed some unknown amount for the quarter, which we were perfectly happy to pay if they could prove to us it was legitimate.
I recommend that you don’t count on getting the deposit back soon, factor in to be waiting months for it. Keep all of your deposit paperwork and your lease, and know your rights as a tenant! I’d recommend joining a tenant’s union if you need some extra support, this seems to be something this agency does to many tenants.
They never answered phones, were very slow with answering emails. Our shower broke during our last week in the property, and they failed to get it fixed in time for the new tenant. The new tenant was an acquaintance of mine, and they texted in confusion when the shower would not work. TG failed to inform them of a broken object upon move in, and TG were still trying to contact US about repairs weeks later, despite knowing we were no longer in the property.
Worth mentioning, we had an extremely positive experience with Vinnie. He was kind and understanding, and the only member of the process who was actually sympathetic to our reason for moving out - my mother passed during the Covid pandemic. Vinnie, you deserve better than TG ????????
