Chissick Estates is a family run Estate Agency based in the heart of Chigwell. Lettings team exhibiting strange behaviours. We were asked to send our documents and a holding deposit for a property but one day later were told the property was no longer available as someone else had put a deposit down. One week later we have seen that the property is still up and available to view and the estate agents has not given us a reason as to why our original offer was suddenly declined at the last minute and they clearly lied about another individual putting a deposit down (which is also strange as we had been asked to put the deposit down so have you asked multiple applicants?)... i rented a property via these guys in Romford in Feb 2021.while handing the keys over there was no heating on,on inquiring,Mr Paolo who is either rep or manager told me that it ll need fiddling with smart meter and its ok otherwise. we moved into the property and central heating is not working.contacted the agent and they made a call from E-On and the electrician made 5 visits to my property and the heating is still not working 7 months down the road. This agent who knew that central heating is broken from day one but he let in a family with young vulnerable kids. there were other issues which i found out after moving in, when i pointed out, i was told that i can leave the property without any notice. extremely unprofessional people.they are totally time waster and have no regards or respect for other people suffering or their time wastage. The Reception team with their hard to understand English is rude and they hardly follow even when one speaks to them in the basics English. DONT get any property via these guys....you ll be sorely disappointed with their service.... Read more

I recently bought a property through Chissick Estates. David showed me around and I made an offer. I must have looked at the house 5 times and never once did David complain even though he was so busy. I was also always calling him about something or another, he was always so polite and helpful. My purchase ended up being really lengthy. I used a Solicitor in Ongar called PCS who I would not recommend at all. I constantly had to chase them and was given no answers, then Janice got involved. Janice is someone you want on your team. She called them every day, along with calls to the freeholder, my mortgage advisor, the vendors Solicitor. I was on a tight deadline to move from my house and Janice didn't give up. She would start work early and be on everyones case prior to 9am. I honestly cannot thank her enough for being so tenacious. If it wasn't for Janice I would be staying at a hotel right now. She pushed until the job was done. I have bought a few houses but I've never used an Estate Agents like Chissick Estates. They have genuine people who are good at their jobs and 100% professional. Highly highly recommended.... Read more

We received excellent service from Chissick in purchasing our new home. Right from the start in viewing the property through putting in an offer and the conveyancing process, Janice and the team (Kerry and David) were excellent in chasing solicitors and keeping us in the loop at all stages of the purchase. Janice kept us informed throughout the entire process, she was available at any time of day and always responded to enquiries promptly. The team were always polite friendly and efficient in progressing the matter and getting us into our new home. Very poor attitude. I had a viewing on friday which had to be cancelled on my part due to being stuck in traffic. My husband had messaged them and called them however we didnt get an answer back. We called on saturday to reaarange and see whats going on. They gave a date for tuesday. That afternoon someone had called and cancelled our viewing. I questioned why it was being cancelled thinking the property probably has been taken instead a silly man named ‘paul’ said because we cancelled on him before. We have been using Chissick Estate for letting our property for about 7 years, at the beginning the experience was decent, Chissick Estate took care of all necessary procedures and maintained a largely smooth experience when tenant was paying rent on time. We did have a tenant delayed rent payments due to health condition that lead to temporary disability to work. We arranged meeting with tenant to understand the situation, we offered small discounts, installments, allowing delays until tenant receives benefits. It took months and the matter was finally resolved. The next tenant was put forward by Chissick Estate whom passed initial referencing and credit checks, although this one was a lot different. At the beginning of his tenancy, everything was as usual until we found the payments were lacking or greatly delayed for several months without any notification from the agency. We contacted Chissick Estate and learnt it was a self-employed man with a vile attitude who is happy to occupy the property and refuses to pay any rent, he refused meeting nor communicating with both landlord and agency, covered windows with newspapers. Chissick Estate attempted to file for rent protection insurance but due to the lack of noticing the missing rent, they have passed the 30 days cut-off point of claiming, resulting the policy being denied. Chissick Estate took no responsibility and claimed they were “learning”. Failing to receive any payment, we had to resolve this matter via legal means. We as landlord had to research, coordinate, arrange and pay a solicitor to file for section 8 and section 21. It took several months leading to tenant’s eviction, during the whole process the agency offered minimum help and guidance, often evasive of any responsibility, they are very difficult to get hold of, rarely return messages and have no one taking care of matters when the particular agent is on holiday. However, the agent did offer to attend court hearing on behalf of landlord. We ended up spending the legal fees, granted Order of Possession, retrieved the property in an atrociously unhygienic state, and still unsuccessful in chasing back lost rent to this date. It is very questionable to Chissick Estate’s tenant selection process leading to a number of traumatizing letting experiences. Although their charge is relatively low, I would not recommend Chissick Estate to anyone, especially for letting.... Read more

Had a terrible experience with this estate agent, took them a very short time to find us a tenant who passed an individual referencing. Very soon it’s clear that’s a shady, self-employed tenant with vile attitude and refuse to pay rent, Chissick Estate didn’t let us know until we noticed money hasn’t been transferred for serval months. Then the agent took action to file for payment protection insurance but past the expiration period which leads to the insurance being denied. We ended up having to go through all the section 8 and section 21 process, filing paper works, liaising with solicitor ourselves and lost a lot of rent money and legal fees on top. And as expected, after several traumatising months we finally got the property back and was left in an atrocious state (broken shower and white goods, rubbish everywhere etc.) During the whole process the estate agent provided minimum guidance and support, Paulo was very difficult to get hold of, often not returning calls with no staff taking care of matters while he’s on holiday, they pretty much only did what they had to do when asked/chased many times. I would not recommend using them at all.... Read more

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. The bad reviews are all true. Awful experience with this agent. They behave in an extremely unprofessional manner, particularly Janice however the other staff memebers are clearly following her lead. They are very cunning and I would take anything and everything they say with a huge pinch of salt. Not to be trusted and i genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with these agent. Please do not use them if possible or you will regret. Janice is an very arrogant, rude woman and shows her true colours very quickly. Again run for the hills and AVOID!!!... Read more
