DO NOT RENT WITH CITY LETTINGS. Another parasitic "family run" business that are looking to exploit young, potentially first-time renters out of as much money as possible upon leaving the property. When we moved in the property had evidently not been cleaned, which was documented in our inventory. The property was cleaned top to bottom thoroughly at the end of the tenancy, which we photographed as evidence, only to be met with a £120 cleaning bill. When asked precisely what the charges were for we were told that the top of one of the plug sockets and the top of the fridge were dusty. As is evidenced by their replies to other similar reviews on here, there is a serious lack of professionalism here, I do not recommend you rent with these people, but if you do, FILL YOUR INVENTORY IN THOROUGHLY!

Warning to new tenants: fill in your inventory as thoroughly as you can on move in as they will try to deduct as much as they can from your deposits on move out.
Similar to other reviews: the House was very dirty with heavy wear and tear on move in.
Unfortunately another company willing to make as much money as possible from people who come to them for somewhere to live :(

City Lettings have a complete lack of professionalism and respect for their tenants. We moved into a student property in July. The property had not been properly cleaned and there was a build up of debris behind the radiator reducing its effectiveness. In November we informed them of a serious issue with mould and damp. Despite following their advice in preventing this issue the matter did not get resolved. In February this issue had become even worse. They sent their maintenance man round in March who stated the external wall would not get the heat from the radiator due to its placement within the room. Despite cleaning the mould off the wall within the bedroom, it came back less than a week later. The maintenance man agreed that there needed to be a new radiator fitted and a dehumidifier provided as the curtains within this room were damp. It took several phone calls and weeks of chasing up City Lettings before they provided the services they had agreed on. Within the first 4 hours of the dehumidifier running it had collected a full tank of water, highlighting the seriousness of the damp issue. They are now expecting me to pay for the increase in bills due to the running costs of the dehumidifier and electric radiator. City Lettings were really slow to react to this issue and months passed before any proper action was taken, despite repeated reminders. I would suggest future students do not rent this property or use this unprofessional letting agents.

Students AVOID this letting agency, I urge you to read this full review before using this company.
Choosing City Lettings is a decision you'll likely regret, for the following reasons:
- Terrible landlord behaviour
- Ignored communications
- Unsafe living conditions
We faced numerous red flags even before moving in (August 2022):
- No valid EICR provided
- Illegible gas safety certificate, indicating a failed test
- Unsigned documents
- Poor communication from agency which constantly required us to push for answers
Then upon moving in, the house was in dismal condition:
- Previous tenants had access due to unreturned keys, posing a security risk, the letting agency DIDN'T bother to check if all keys had been returned
- Broken washing machine (pictures attached)
- Exposed wiring and displaced plug sockets
- Filthy premises; landlord promised but failed to deliver a professional deep clean
Our experience got EVEN WORSE over time:
Garage Rented Out: Without prior notice, our landlord rented out the garage. We were constantly disturbed by the garage tenant needing access to our basement.
Unexpected Renovation: Landlord decided to renovate the kitchen in the middle of our lease. Promised a "few days to a week" timeline; took 3 weeks.
Unannounced Entries: Landlord entered the property without prior notification multiple times.
TLDR: AVOID THIS AGENCY.

When I first moved to Nottingham, I felt frustrated after searching for many apartments that failed me because I haven't got a job before, Matt from City Lettings helped me to overcome the credit check and rented a cozy apartment within a very short period. He always responds very promptly and provides professional service with his maintenance team during the tenancy period. I was gonna put the year in this flat behind me but I didn't wanna leave this year without posting this review.
My flatmate and I moved into an unclean flat - spiders in cupboards, dust, cobwebs, mould, damp, when my mum mopped the floor, the water was black. They had the audacity to tell us the flat had been cleaned upon arrival when that was far from the truth. Imagine having to do a deep clean of a flat to be able to move in properly. We had an inefficient boiler for months which was 30+ years old and did not heat up the flat. The boiler only got changed after months of telling them and even then, we still had to suffer in a crazily cold flat during winter - we spent hours and hours, even unnecessary all-nighters at the library because it was warmer there than being at the flat. We could see our own breath in the property!!! We did not have a monoxide detector for months which we had to mention. And rising damp began to form which was beyond our control (which we also didn’t receive compensation for) and when I had told them about it, they didn’t even rectify the situation - I still came back to the same problem when I stayed at the flat again for my graduation. These aren’t even half of the problems we faced.
Overall, the communication wasn’t the best and they required constant calls and emails from us to rectify any issues. They seemed more bothered about hounding us down for rent payments than actually fixing the problems.
Upon moving out, we cleaned the flat from top to bottom on two different occasions as we moved out at separate times, only to be met with a cleaning charge? This was the final straw for us as they had some nerve to do that after everything they had put us through. We asked for a cleaning invoice as evidence and it just looked like something they whipped up themselves. Spelling errors, capital letters in the wrong places. The document did not even look legit. But regardless, the joy I felt moving out because it seriously impacted my mental health. I don’t even know how I got through my final year with how uncomfortable I felt living there.
I cannot tell you the year we endured because we would be here all day. And if anyone has moved into the flat we were in, good luck. I’m not sure if they’ve made any serious changes to the flat since we moved out but during our time, my flatmate and I had to fight so hard for many repairs and changes so if you have anyone to thank, it should be us. We deserved some kind of compensation because it puzzles me how they allowed us to pay full rent for that joke of a flat. Wasn’t worth our time or money.

A few months ago I needed some bathroom repairs completing, they were quick, efficient and it felt a breeze. We were moved into a house that was not ready to be lived in, we had nearly a week without electricity or a working shower. Still now do not have hot water and a washing machine. Whilst the house is filthy with bugs all over the place and mould in one of the bed rooms. Now we are being ignored by both the landlord and City Lettings, DO NOT USE

It was working completely fine before we left - the issue with the machine is supposedly a technical fault, which means the landlord doesn't have grounds to deduct from our deposit.

You won’t see your full deposit back. Me and my friend left the flat in a good condition, cleaned and gave everything back on time. £300 of our deposit was used for “renovation” like cleaning (even though everything was clean) with absurd prices. The only good thing was the fact it was quick to find with okay price. Wouldn’t recommend.

My rental properties have been fully managed by City Lettings for the last 3 years and I have to say I can't fault their service! After years of mismanagement by various agents, City were the first to make it a truly "hands off" affair. The properties were always fully let and good rental incomes were achieved with all maintenance issues also being dealt with promptly, all whilst keeping me informed along the way. I have recently also sold my properties through their sales team and again the service was proactive and professional. If not for their diligence there was an increasing likelihood of the sales falling through due to the incompetence of the solicitors, fortunately we got over the line. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending their services to other landlords and pass on my sincere thanks to Tom, Matt and the rest of the team for their efforts over the years.

This is a review very similar to others which seems to be common with this agency and the reason I would not recommend to rent with them.
From the moment I moved in, I had problems with them. They lied to me about the condition of the property, the state of it was not as showcased and not cleaned to the standard promised.. I found all sorts of issues, including a room stinking of urine coming from a mattress that had d**ks drawn all over it(took them 3 weeks to replace it so a whole room was inhabitable), marks all over the walls which we were blamed for, a broken door handle that we were also blamed for, most furniture was broken to an unusable state (office chair missing wheels, kitchen cabinet falling apart, desk missing screws and drawers that held it together, patches all over the walls that had to be covered by posters which we were also blamed for, and way more...) alongside the oven which was not even cleaned and full of dried out food, and perhaps the worst one was finding rat droppings underneath the couch upon lifting it up to clean it.
When it came time to move out, the agency did an inspection and tried to blame me for quite a few of those issues mentioned, even though I had photographic evidence that they existed when I first moved in. They claimed that the damages were extensive and they would be deducting a portion of my deposit for cleaning fees as it was "not up to standard". I was shocked and horrified by their dishonesty and lack of integrity, considering that me and my partner are extremely clean and left the property to a better standard than when we moved in as we rectified some of the previous issues with deep cleaning ourselves when living there.
After moving out, several contact was made with one of the agency's letting agents via email, which constituted of them ignoring half the contents of what was said in each email and replying without consideration of what was said.
Even when comparing their own checkout report of the property to their own comments on email, they contradict themselves which is simply embarrassing and thoughtless. (example: stating that the bathroom was not clean as a reason, although their own report states it was cleaned very well with photos on top)
I decided to take it upon using the deposit protection service that made a case for me after dealing with the unprofessionalism and lying of city lettings, I won't go through the details of it but although it took 5 months for the case to conclude, I eventually got my deposit back
I would not recommend this agency to anyone. They are dishonest, untrustworthy, and their customer service is terrible. They have no respect for the rights of tenants and will try to cheat you out of your deposit at every opportunity. Stay away from this agency if you value your money and your peace of mind as this isn't the only review that mentions this issue, suggesting that other tenants under this agency have gone through the same/similar case.
EDIT: The agency has replied to this review with a comment that makes no sense, we didn't have a storage room? The bedroom I was paying rent for was not supposed to be used? They've specified a different value for cleaning for the 3rd time. They threatened with legal action unless I took down the review as everything I've said is supposedly a lie, however, after I sent them an email report with all the evidence in regards to my claims, they never replied and its now been over a month. I would leave 0 stars if it were an option. During my tenancy, city lettings failed to upkeep their agreement multiple times - taking over a month to fix our cooker when we first moved in, along with other issues that took weeks and weeks to resolve.
It is now a month since my tenancy ended, and I am still waiting on resolution in regards to my deposit. They are trying to charge me over half of my deposit (near £500) for cleaning, “damages” (most of which were already there when I moved in), removal of items (which my neighbour informed me were put in their bin) and wall filler marks (which I asked for the wall colours to cover, to which they provided 2 colours that were incorrect). Upon asking for proof of costs, they only provided me with an easily forged invoice with no individual costs listed, just with the “total cost” printed at the bottom.They have been taking a week to respond to each of my emails, and I still have no resolution.
I would not recommend city lettings to anyone as your chance of getting much of your deposit back is 0. Their service is abysmal. Be sure to take plenty of photos of any existing damage when you move in, and save every email correspondence you have with them as evidence - and expect to pay for small claims court if you ever want to see your deposit again!

Stayed at the pavilion apartments forest fields as a student with my friend. Our apartment was on the first floor. First day of moving in was the day the inventory was done and not prior to us moving in. The blinds/curtains in the apartment were either broken or filthy. Oven left filthy by previous tenants and the landlord couldn’t charge them to get it cleaned. Ended up having to clean it ourselves. The apartment was always cold due to poor heating. Which resulted in us using the electric heater which used up a lot of electricity this was not convenient at all, especially during December times. The water system and mainly the whole house is run by electricity so the bills were extremely high. There was always an issue of mould in our bedrooms and the living room leaks, a leak in the bathroom wall causing rips in the wall, wall stains. THERE WAS NO HOT WATER FOR A MONTH PLUS (+). I had to sleep at and shower at a friends a lot of the time. We kept pestering the landlord’s agent to get it sorted, but they took so long. Wear and Tear on the floor, water was coming out of the floor. There was also a balcony door that was constantly causing a flood of water each time it rained. Horrible communication with the Landlord’s agent and the landlord never responded unless it was to do with money. All in all I wouldn’t recommend the place and city lettings.

Unfortunately we had arrived on the first day of our tenancy and was shocked to see the state of the house. We had no electricity for about a week, no working showers and still no hot water or a useable washing machine. There is also mould, loose wiring and insects spread throughout the house. Despite our efforts to get in contact and resolve this issue, we still have yet to hear back despite a whole week passing since moving in. I would not recommend using City Lettings UK Ltd’s services.

I want to start by naming and shaming! Emma! What an absolute angel! I had some issues over the bank holiday weekend with regards to electricity in the flat. Bearing in mind this wasn't directly city lettings problem to deal with, Emma dealt with all of my issues to the best of her ability within her role (out of hours) and really did go above and beyond to help me during a very stressful time. She rang back on the second day to ensure I was okay and to ask if there was anything further she could do, she made contact with other services to try and help me get the result I so desperately needed. In a time where praise is unheard of I couldn't not write a review on her sheer kindness and compassion during my time of need!
Sadly however we have had a number of issues with city lettings over the course of the tenancy hence the 2 star but I don't want this to detract from the service I've received this weekend.
If it was based solely on Emma's attitude and assistance this review would be 5 stars without a doubt.

I was shown a property by Jay today, and decided it wasn’t suited to myself - jay was extremely helpful and went out of his way to find and show me a different property, of which he thought would be better for myself and my flat mate. His customer service was brilliant and he was also extremely professional. He has made a very good first impression on behalf of city letting and I have high hopes for having them as my letting agency due to having bad experiences with other companies in the past. I have booked a viewings with them and they cancelled it 2 minutes before my arranged viewing it has wasted my time. I have also been contacting them about some of the properties, they did not reply to phone calls at all and terrible in replying to emails. When they called me up to let me know the place had just been let, I had said to the person on the phone that it was unfair to not even let me view the place and they rudely said it was not unfair but unlucky. This is not unlucky but very unfair on me and anyone else that had a viewing after as I did not even have a chance to see the place and they called me when I was on my way to say it had been let.

One of my parcels was stolen in their building i asked for assistance with this, was told i would receive it and have since heard radio silence. Their laundry facilities are also not enough for the amount of people staying there and never get cleaned. They simply only care about money.

They were so accomodating and nice to get us to sign a contract but If its to do with maintaince, quite frankly they don't care. As a Tennant our maintaince requests have been continously ignored or forgotten about since out tenancy began! Because "they're busy". It's excuse after excuse. Out of a list of 20+ maintaince issues only 3 have been fixed. We're now 8 weeks into the tenancy and still waiting. I wish I stayed with my other landlord as they prioritised repairs and our comfort and wellbeing. If sleeping on broken beds, having no washing machine for over 2 weeks, having a condemned oven or plumbing being suspended by plumbers tape is your vibe you go for it. On viewing, the first red flag came up, issues we outlined and identified to them and they said they'd be fixed before we moved in. They weren't and we're still waiting. They're incompetence regarding the standards of their properties they managage is frightening.. avoid like the plague. Worst letting agency I have ever been with. Disgraceful considering they have so many years in the industry. It's totally Inexcusable. I can't wait for the tenancy to be over so I can be liberated from the neglect they have for their property and live somewhere where the building is being properly looked after.

Lauren Muzeja is a 10 STAR staff in their Letting Team. I was in big crisis with my sister (Couple with 1 kid) who recently moved to the UK from Bangladesh as a Student for Nottingham University.

When I found out I asked a friend to view the property and called at 10am and got through to the answer machine 3 times. The next day I called at 12:45 and managed to get through to someone only to find out the property had been let. The staff I spoke to were anything but empathetic and fulfilled all the stereotypes letting agents tend to have. If I'm honest, I think I've dodged a bullet by not going through this company!

I am extremely delighted to recommend to you the exemplary quality services of City Lettings UK (Letting agency, Nottingham). I ?lived in a property which was under their ?management for almost 9 years. They provide all tenants prompt and efficient 24-hour service. Whenever there was a problem in my flat, it was quickly fixed and if something such as a heater or ?a hob needed to be replaced, it was done in a timely manner. Once before Christmas holiday, the boiler stopped working and I was afraid I would not have hot water 'till ?the holiday is over. But City Lettings Maintenance group sent a plumper in less than 24 hours and ?the boiler was replaced in less than two days?with a new one.
Unlike other agencies, they don’t bother you with constant emails or property viewings, so you feel really comfortable as a tenant. I should also note that City letting staff are very friendly and respectful. When I decided to leave, because of Covid-19 pandemic, I was very afraid about people who were going to view the apartment, but Mr Thomas Pasiak arranged everything very professionally and I did not have to come in contact with anyone.
I strongly recommend City Lettings UK if you need to rent or buy a property.

Utterly disappointed with this unprofessional company. I live in London and have arranged to physically view two properties in Nottingham, but the agent cancelled the appointment last minute. They didnt consider the point the I had to make a 3 hour journey to get there or the travel expenses that I had to pay. It was such a waste of time and money especially in the current covid time with travelling between cities carries a health risk.
As I cant reply to the owner’s comment, the reason I declined the later appointment is that I have other appointments during that day as well, I travelled all the way from London and have planned my visit in advance . The letting agent was aware of all that when I arranged for it.

I moved in to basford mill (anyone know it?) I had no hot water from may until present. The cooker has decided to pack up and the fridge is in its last legs.
It's a shame because it is a nice looking flat but there's just to many problems.
I am seriously considering just moving somewhere else.
They can keep the deposit if they don't mind me holding onto the rent.
It's a cross between the city lettings can't be arsed and the cheapness of the landlord.
I'll never use these people again.
Continuing on.
Finally moved out into a much better place in a exclusive area.
I have hot water and radiators that work,
Now they are trying every trick to hold onto my deposit.
I recommend you avoid these people like the plague

I wasn’t going to write a review but even this far on and it still bothers me how I was treated by the “manager” of this agency. I left my property in the summer of this year and honestly, as a tenant, I would never recommend this agency to anyone. Just a nightmare from start to finish. I don’t have a positive word to say about my experience with them or their “service” and I have never been spoken to by anyone as rudely as the so-called “manager” spoke to me. Completely out of order. I rented with two other agencies in Nottingham, both of which, were leaps and bounds better than this one in every way. Do your research tenants!!!!

Appalling service, as a tenant I have had to ring up multiple times to resolve any issue. They treat customers like rubbish and are incredibly rude and condescending. DO NOT USE AS A TENANT.
The staff are aloof and do not care about any issues you have, disbelieving about any issue you report and repeatedly asking if you're sure, trying to turn the issue back to you and make it seem like you were either mistaken or that it was your fault.
The property was unclean when first received, found broken glass and the floor was so dirty my socks turned black. I was originally told my flatmate and I would receive a fob but when we moved in we was told that we don't get one. We did not receive a complete set of keys so we had to wait to pick up the front door key, we also did not receive the letter box keys. There is an ongoing issue with the hot water smelling and have had to wait 3 months, still waiting on a solution.

The worst customer experience I've ever had.
Unresponsive e-mails from staff member Emma. When called the agency to ask to get a reply, I was spoken to very rudely.
Then the flat that was agreed a month ago was told 3 weeks before that it won't be ready for the date we requested, effectively leaving us homeless for a period of time. Also didn't want to get in touch with the builders to help us get a date ready.
Then spoke to manager as I was not happy with the service I received, who was generally ok and apologetic about his staff behaviour but then said he would ring me the following day for definite with a date of when the flat would be ready. I never received a phone call. I rang at 3pm and was told the manager was now unavailable. I was then asked if it was urgent, I said yes. Not sure why they asked me if it was urgent because they told me they can't help me till Monday.
I then rang the manager on Monday and was apologisedwho said "sorry I didn't call you, I finished at 1"
The only good part of the experience was that I got my refund within 24 hours after a month of wasted time.

Speaking as a tenant my flatmate and myself received terrible service from City Lettings.
Despite our landlord approving the return of our security deposit in full within two days of us moving out of the property, it took almost a month for them to return the money to us despite the law stating 10 day’s maximum after the landlords permission.
We chased them for weeks via phone and emails (most of which were not replied to) and were given a multitude of excuses as to why it wasn’t possible to pay us; they hadn’t received confirmation from the landlord (they had, weeks prior), the bank’s faulty online services preventing them from transferring money (despite myself having no problems with the very same bank), the, supposedly, only person who could access their accounts being off sick etc. It wasn’t until we threatened to report them to their financial regulator that the money was returned (within hours).
Prior to this the staff had always seemed rude and aloof, cutting you off mid sentence, not listening or otherwise seeming uninterested in any of your concerns. Looking at the reviews on here tenants and landlords seem to have very different experiences of using this company’s services. As tenants it seems our case was not unique and based on my experience I would strongly discourage anyone from using City Lettings in the future.

Not worthy of the 1 star!
Absolutely disgrace of a lettings agency, staff are rude and become somewhat aggressive when I expressed my concerns in the office after being lied to on 2 occasions about bills being included when they weren't.
Specifically asked to view properties with someone different but this request was not listened to.
Was made to feel uncomfortable around the 'manager' after complaining about his lack of respect for tenants already in the house. Was given free reign to look around without supervision - not very professional there.
I was called 20 minutes before an appointment to be told the property had been let already after calling only an hour before because they had not told us where we would be meeting.
Was promised an email to update me on the progress of houses becoming available however these said houses are now on the market but I have received no email.
City Lettings living up to their bad standards like so many others reviews.

Every tenant in the house next door owned by city lettings have lived in a damp house, repairs never done, current tenant lives unable to cook or wash due to electrics. Therebhavee have been numerous lwttings as no one wantsvto stay there. The house has been rat infested a few times. And they have let the property to drug users who bred dogs (though it ended with the property been stripped of pipes, wires, bath floorboards)And there is an extremely dangerous tree which again missed killing anyone with its branches which by tree surgeons by the council told me it was dangerous.
The landlord doesn't care about tenants. And I have now known quite a lot. Each all have similar issues, each say they are going to get it sorted and it never ever happens. even had tenants with no key for the front door, which is a fire hazzerard. Thankfully the current tenant got someone to put a new lock on.
The staff are rude. They palm their tenants off with lies. Find houses that are safe.and well managed. No tenant in this day and age should live with no amenities to cook or clean. A house with steep steps needs a stair rail, they cannot even do that. When I hear the list time and time again over many TENANTS with city lettings all trying to get the same things done thats been going on years. Its not rocket science that the company isnt bothered if its their own property as the house next to me is. One day someone will be killed by that tree on this property, its missed a few children recently. After the tenant who is here now goes it will be many that see the dangerous tree that refuse to live under it, I lost count last time it was empty of the people viewing saying that.
Sum it up, mismagaged letting agency, even with new laws to protect tenants

They always alert me of any repairs required and get the job done rapidly. I am so pleased with them compared to the 4 agents I have tried for my london properties that I have reuested they manage these as well.... hopefully they can even though it is a long way from Nottingham. Excellent service.

Horrible horrible service. Had the most awful renting experience with them. Staff and owners are terribly rude and unhelpful. Never acknowledge problems but always remember when the rent is due. Roommate lost 1000euros after they brought someone over for a viewing (never cares if you're unhappy about not being able to be in the house during viewing, they just barge in with their SPARE SETS OF KEYS). THINK IT THROUGH BEFORE YOU USE THEM!!!

We moved into a property two months ago and have a few important issues with it, including unusable appliances, broken locks and most importantly a lack of access to energy/gas meter readings.
Annoyingly, while some staff have proved rather thoughtful, we have in general felt a lack of understanding and initiative to have us feel these problems are being dealt with; mostly from the maintenance team. This includes: (i) not returning calls, (ii) not replying emails (iii) outright lies.
This has thus caused us to: (i) receive massive utility bills (ii) have no lock in the postbox (literally... our stuff is up for grabs) (iii) be unable to use appliances such as the oven or thermostat.

Most awful service I've ever experienced and I'm glad I graduated and never have to deal with them ever again. PATHETIC excuse for a business. Terrible service. 2 weeks in a new property and the cooker is still condemned and unusable gas safety certificate failed. Despite multiple attempts on our part to get it sorted still no dates given. Property wasn't cleaned before we moved in still had old tenants furniture in told "oh well we'll knock £25 off first months rent" awful service go elsewhere.

Mattresses absolutely disgusting , curtain in the living room missing so they took one down from the bedroom . No resolution . Gave us a two seater sofa for 3 people . Servere mould and damp in room nothing done for months and caused illness . They avoide blame at all costs and are so bad with the excuses . Rang numerous times about things no one got back to us , then told don't ring email them as they haven't got any records . Don't have a phone number then . They are awful , avoid at all costs , un professional and just want your money not interested

I was persuade to make a booking for a flat near my daughter uni which she was going to share with three other girls.They are currently away on placements so are totally relying on others to view on their behalf. Spoke with the agent the day before the viewing where I requested details of the tenancy procedures. He seems very helpful but when I tried to ask more questions he rush me off the phone.
On the day of the viewing after missing each other calls he was very apologetic informing me the flat no longer available, I asked him if he had anything else, at that point he seems very cold and uninterested.

WORST AGENTS EVER!
This agency is the worst I have EVER experienced they have caused me and my partner so much physical and mental pain, so much stress and shown nothing but disrespect! My partner lived in the property for 2 years now as emergency accommodation half way through one of her uni years and when she viewed the place there was severe damp every where ( this was summer) and she was told that it was were the paint was peeling! obviously later on as this got severely worse and we realised it was damp,
when she moved in their was rubbish everywhere and it took her and her mum 2 hrs to clean. mould in most rooms, its has got so severe in most rooms now that is taken over most of the wall and is jet black and is starting to seriously effect our health! I have reported this for around 8 months now and they still are not bothered, only once I contact several legal services, health services and the police ( and after having a very rude, shouting and disrespectful phone call with me about it) did they bother to come and " look at it" and that's all that has been done..
It takes countless phone calls emails and even going in to the office in person to get a problem fixed or sorted and even the severe ones can take months but yet they are keen to contact you for payment .. again very unprofessional and will shout down the phone at you! I have even warned them about the effects the mould is having on my partners asthma and they laughed down the phone at me!
I have contacted many legal company's and housing company's and they have all stated they have many complaints and problems with this company as well as the police saying this! We also found many times we would come back and find someone had just let their self in as our stuff had moved and mentioned to use about having certain things when they have no way of knowing! many times this has happened and also just let maintenance in with no previous booking and then being left with a mess in a room that didn't have anything to fix in it ( ie foot prints on the bed when we had problems with electrics in the kitchen)
last but not least letting their selves in when you are in the house not fully clothed or in bed) please everyone do yourself a favour and don't bother with them please, the stress and messing around they have caused my partner has made her miss lectures..lab time and be behind on uni work and has also started to effect her grades. and its was also interesting to recently find out they are in the bottom 15 in the whole country for estate agents.

I have just completed my second move as a tenant through City Lettings after moving back to Nottingham from London. My first experience with City Lettings was good (friendly and speedy service) but I must admit this second move has surpassed my expectations and I think they deserve a good review (especially considering a couple of bad ones I've just read! - which incidentally do not sound relevant to the agency and service I've just experienced!!).
Firstly, I viewed the property on Monday and I moved in on the Friday - how quick is that!! - their process was professionally seamless and well managed. Secondly, during my viewing, I noted a few minor issues with the property - I raised these issues with City Lettings and they dealt with the majority of them before I moved in (by the way, they kept me updated as each issue was resolved) and gave me a date for when the outstanding issue would be fixed (and true to their word, the work was carried out on the date they promised and by a professional and courteous tradesman!). Judging by their office, which was extremely busy, I cannot fault the way they dealt with my concerns / issues and with the speed of their processes. Overall, I am one very satisfied tenant, and cannot praise City Lettings enough for their professional attitude, hard work, speed and honesty (which lets face it, tends to be lacking with alot of other lettings agents). I cannot recommend this agency enough.

The flat itself was fine, however City Lettings did not own the property or construct it, and therefore this review is based solely on their atrocious service.
I moved into a property with:
- a broken oven - which took 3 weeks to be replaced.
- a massive pile of rubbish outside the front door.
- No electricity meter key.
- Cupboards filled with more rubbish.
- The fridge kept shorting the entire house so I couldn't keep it on.
- After reporting mice (we had made the effort to keep the kitchen in a clean state) they took several days to respond, put down a bait block, said they would come and check on it after Easter. We did not receive another visit until we moved out in June.
- They found it hard to keep track of who had paid and who hadn't.
- The window to the ground floor bathroom was in a poor condition when we moved in, finally broke at the start of December, we reported it ASAP and this was not fixed until January. Meaning whilst we were away we could have been burgled.
Correspondence of any sort was the main issue. They only contacted me if my housemates hadn't paid rent and took ages to respond to my questions. However since writing this review they contacted me to state that they were looking to resolve this issues. I hope that they do so this cuts out any hassle for tenants.
In my experience it pays to ask tenants and your mates which lettings agents to go with, but unfortunately I would not recommend City Lettings.
P.S. This comes from someone who had worked for another Nottingham based lettings agency during my time at Uni, and have heard from many that my employer's service was unsatisfactory and would agree that they were not always the best. But I feel City Lettings were not to that standard.

Having decided to rent out my flat rather then sell four years ago I was recommended City Lettings by a friend, and I have not been disappointed. From meeting me at the property to discuss my options, finding me my first tenants within two weeks and sorting all of the required references and paperwork the service had been excellent. Regular updates, friendly staff and professional service has given me piece of mind with my first rental. Four years on and three tenants later, I have no hesitation in handing over my next property. People can be quick to criticise, so equally praise should be given if deserved and with CL I could not be happier.

Awful service. On the day I moved it the property was in a terrible condition. Very dirty with mould hidden behind the furniture. Any time the property needed any repairs the agency would take months of sending someone out and in the end would do nothing. Now looking forward to moving out and never deal with this terrible company again. Advice to everyone do not do any "business with City Lettings"
