You never get a deposit back. After 10 years with them, they never did any repair in house, same carpets walls never repainted i left house clean for the age ,and they said house need cleaning so they keep deposit. My advice when you leaving they property don't bother to spend time cleaning or taking away yours rubbish you never get a deposit back!... Read more

George Farrell dealt with the sale of this property that was a managed Letting with Spencer Birch. Throughout all our interactions I found him to be professional, courteous and communicative. What I valued the most was that if he said he would do something, you could be confident that he would action this in the time frame given with suitable updates every step of the way. 2 Years well spent!! I had no problems with Spencer Birch, very quick correspondence and good customer service. Any time I needed the handy man, they would have him sent over as soon as he was available. The property was in a good conditon when I first entered (sept 2016) and I saw to it that I left it just as good when my tenancy was over and so I got my deposit back with no issue. Would definately rent from these guys again :)... Read more

AVOID SPENCER BIRCH THEY WILL CON YOU Update: Spencer Birch read my previous review and persistently sent me patronising, aggressive emails harrassing me to take my review down. How Marie has spoken to me is absolutely vile. She even left me a personal message in her fake Vitali S review below. I moved out 6 months ago and they are still giving me grief. AVOID. All 5* ratings below are clearly FAKE! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Spencer Birch are the worst letting agents I have dealt with. I lived in one of their properties for 2 years, my rent was always paid on time and would consider myself a good tenant. They repaid me with dodgy repair jobs, including a cheap white light switch fitting that did not match the chrome silver light switches in the property and a cheap extractor fan replacement that was put in diagonally and left holes where the old one was. Getting them to complete these repairs was also a nightmare as their communication is terrible, it took them a year and a half to fix the boiler and I still believe it will give up for whoever moved in after me as they just fix parts and hope for the best. When we moved in there were damp marks all over the ceiling where the flat upstairs had leaked through, they assured us they would get someone to paint this but in the 2 years, this never happened! When my shower broke I was told to purchase and fix the part myself. Finally we decided enough was enough and decided to move out. After we handed our notice in they started doing viewings which was incredibly annoying having strangers walking into your home at all hours of the day. I specifically told them they can do viewings but not in the evening or weekends. They completely ignored this with the excuse 'my colleague didn't communicate that we couldn't do these times so I booked Friday evening'. I was left with no choice and didn't have just one viewing at 6pm on a Friday, but THREE separate viewings on the same evening! People were literally queuing outside my front door. So the last straw was the deposit, we spent 3 days cleaning the flat top to bottom but this was pointless. No matter how clean and tidy we left that flat, spencer birch will find a way to con you on your deposit. We also left furniture in the flat that viewers were complimenting but they took this out of my deposit as well claiming that the person who took over the flat didn't want it and they wouldn't let me remove it myself. So in total they deducted £100 from my deposit for a bit of cleaning and my GIFT of furniture that they probably kept anyway. To conclude, Spencer Birch are con artists and you are left with no control over them emptying your pockets for all they can grab. They charge you money for anything they can, if you move elsewhere and need them to write a reference that's £10, if you lose those ugly keyrings they give you that's £25. Not only this but they do not value their tenants, they are very patronising and argumentative. I have never had money taken off my deposit but I just knew they would. Please avoid and put these con artists out of business because they do not deserve good tenants.... Read more

SCAM DO NOT USE THEM AT ANY COSTS - Spencer Birch are an awful company who are essentially crooks. My girlfriend was apprehensive to use Spencer Birch as they had ripped her off in the past after she had left her rented house spotless yet still wasn't given her deposit money back as it needed to pay for 'damages and cleaning' . Unfortunately, to our dismay a lovely apartment became available with them (the landlord of the new flat was apparently a family friend of the Spencer Birch owner) and we had no choice but to use them if we wanted the flat. We were told that we were the only people to view the flat and there were no more viewings booked in until the following week. We therefore filled in our applications and paid our fees, excited to get it done and dusted. A few days later we received a phone call from Spencer Birch informing us that they'd given the flat to another couple as my reference from my previous landlord took a few days to come through and that the new landlord 'randomly' picked another couple as the landlord may have been put off by the fact that my girlfriend was a student and he feared she would not be able to pay the rent. I spoke to my previous landlord who forwarded me the reference email and it had been sent the same day I sent my fees, meaning Spencer Birch sat and waited for others to view the flat and make offers (4 other couples filled in their application forms) just so they could charge everyone fees and not refund us. So after all the disappointment and heartache this incompetent company inflicted on us, they shockingly refused to give us our money back.... Read more

I use Spencer Birch to rent my property in Nottingham. This is the first property I have rented and they have been extremely helpful in guiding me through the requirements and regulations. They are also very comprehensive and thorough in vetting potential tenants. I would not hesitate to recommend them.... Read more

The letting manager is a professional and caring person. All the issues I raised were taken seriously and dealt with. SB's letting team is helpful and open to communication. *update* Jeez, are you that low and powerless? Starting an online war just shows how much spare time you've got. Maybe if you used some of it to get a job you'd make money - that would allow you forget the sorrows of loosing a part of your deposit. Boo-hoo. And yes, this is not a fake account. ***Update*** Recent five star reviews are false!!! AVOID this company at all costs, you will NEVER get your deposit back, if you get your house professionally cleaned - no deposit, if you re-paint the damp marks in the house (after calling for days to no avail to get it fixed) - no deposit. ALL of the positive reviews they are all written by Spencer Birch staff. AWFUL UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY AVOID! ***UPDATE*** Spent 3 days cleaning the apartment and was told the flat was dirty and we wouldn't be getting our deposit. No contact made with me after numerous calls and emails. Left for 3 months with no boiler and had to contact environmental health to force them to fix it. Awful, aggressive, DO NOT USE! Avoid!!!!!...
