We rented a flat in Greenwich via Daniel Watney for the past year and a half, before we relocated to the other side of London. I would not hesitate to rent from them again. The team were friendly and attentive, and the few repairs we needed during our time there were fixed very quickly. The end of tenancy process was smooth. They let us break out of our tenancy 3 weeks early, and we received our full deposit back too. Would recommend them!... Read more

It is not an easy task to scout for a flat closed to work. However, after few weeks of thorough search I found the one. Funny story, I had my friend to view the property as I was not available and my other friend I will share the flat with was away on holiday. I did not want to let this opportunity go past because it can just go very quickly. Oliver Jones was so accommodating and showed the flat to my friend whilst my other friend and I were on video call with them.Ellie Alam took over and she is the sweetest and most kind, so accommodating too with all the back and forth questions my friend and I had. I let a house through Daniel Watney for 10 years. It's an old property and that was through the begging of the 20s, which saw a huge raise in rents. So not the ideal circumstances for fostering a positive relationship between landlord and tenant. Still, all things considered, it was a really good experience. I think we were very lucky to get a property managed by them instead of a direct contract with a landlord when comparing stories with friends. So I highly recommend.... Read more

Based on my experience with Daniel Watney and supported by an independent Tenancy Deposit Scheme adjudication (case EWI00011849), I would be cautious about renting through them. They attempted to claim excessive amounts from our deposit, including £2,736 for redecorating (painting) a property that wasn't freshly decorated when we moved in, £804 for cleaning despite us leaving it in reasonable condition, and £503.76 for various repairs. The independent adjudicator significantly reduced most of their claims, finding them unreasonable.... Read more

Three years after we moved out of a rental property used to be managed by DW, we got a series of emails claiming we owe them money for fixing the heating, given the facts: 1. We have never fixed a heating, 2. Invoice date is three months after we move out, 3. We had a clean inventory check list when we move out, 4. It’s not a tenant’s responsibility to fix heating. My family and I have lived in an apartment managed by Daniel Watney for the past 9 months and our experience has been outstanding. The apartment itself is in excellent condition and has met all of our needs. Any time minor maintenance issues have come up, they have been handled promptly and professionally. On the rare occasions when we've had small issues, Aisha has personally ensured that everything gets resolved quickly and with high quality. The ABSOLUTE WORST commercial agents I have experienced over 20 years. Save your time and sanity by steering clear of these guys. Trust me, even if the property they have advertised seems perfect for your needs, LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!! There are plenty of other options available. We were initially hesitant to arrange a viewing with them due to their terrible reviews, and unfortunately, those reviews were spot on. After viewing the space, every SINGLE attempt to communicate with them has been a nightmare. It can take up to a week to get a response to an email, and that's if they reply at all. You can’t reach them on the phone either; if someone does answer, they’ll either transfer you to the wrong person or promise a call back that never happens. On a couple of occasions, they didn’t even ask for a name or number but said we would receive a call back—ridiculous. After wasting so much time, we decided it was best to look elsewhere as we couldn’t imagine dealing with them long-term. I also advise LANDLORDS to STEER CLEAR of these guys. They have zero urgency to get your property let, likely because they’re not the ones losing money with your property sitting empty. These agents are the reason good Central London agents get a bad name. A good office location and a high headcount don’t equal good service. These are the ABSOLUTE WORST commercial agents I have experienced in over 20 years of doing business in Central London. You have been warned!!!!... Read more

Worst managing agents EVER! Don't let Daniel Watney near your property! Our building has been left in a terrible state since DW took over management. Crime takes place in front of the CCTV we pay for and DW can't even access the footage we are paying for - they tell us we have to somehow get the videos for ourselves and take it to the police! Flooding, insurance claims, resident disturbance in the night, stuff everywhere, gross common areas, violation of planning laws...you're on your own and DW won't even respond to emails or calls.... Awful. We were looking for a managing agent and called them. I endured a series of incompetent calls in which I was put through to the wrong person, messages weren't returned etc, then spoke at length to someone knowledgeable who never called me back on follow up, despite me sending him multiple texts and calling. Many times when I called reception no one picked up at all. If that's how they treat potential new business, can't imagine how poor the service would be if contracted.... Read more

Firstly my apologies for my dyslexia and any mistakes. Secondly I believe this is my second review for Daniel Watney. As a long-term tenant; I think I’m coming up to 14 years, I can honestly say that I feel very lucky to have them as my agents – particularly in the current market – though I have felt that way pretty much since day one. In no particular reason apart from possibly length of acquaintance, I would very much like to thank for their professionalism, help and kindness over the years, Julian,Guy,Ania,Casey, Amber,Electra,Ellie & my current & amazing Agent Aisha. I checked online for anyone I’d missed,but,they’re no longer with the company. The fact that some of these star players have been there since my day one & have been promoted,says a lot about the company & it’s ethos. I will be honest & admit to mental health problems,which can make dealing with people extremely difficult; the kindness/friendliness that I’ve encountered from day one ,enables me to function better & I never feel unheard or hesitant to open an email/letter, which in the long run makes my life easier. This is in fact due to the excellent feeling of team spirit and also being able to build up a relationship over a long period of time with the same people; something very rare in today’s market. At present there is a problem with a leak from the flat upstairs,It is the nature of old houses to play tricks and have their idiosyncrasies. I’ve been dealing with Ellie and the lovely Aisha and cannot thank them enough for the speed with which they have prioritised and dealt with this problem. A few problems that have come up over the years have always been dealt with by whomever is the acting agent and the wonderful Electra on the helpdesk. Please forgive me if I have it wrong, but, I believe that Ellie is now running that. Speaking to other friends who are renting I realise just how lucky I am. It is the same each year when the dreaded rent renewal comes due the fantastic Anis;,Speeds the process along & is kind and fair,Not leaving one hanging in a state of expectation/not knowing what’s happening. No one knows what the future brings,but,I hope I’m lucky enough to be a Daniel Watney tenant for a few more years. No one has asked me to write this,though I know that there is a draw for a bottle of champagne. As a non-drinker this means little to me. I’ve personally thanked both Ellie & Aisha regarding the current situation,even with all their other work,they take time to not just explain what’s happening,but,actually listen; a rare commodity in today’s world. I have been thinking quite hard the last 24 hours what to post after leasing a flat though the Daniel Watney team for 2 ½ years in Greenwich which has now come to an end. They are GREAT and pretty on the ball in all areas.  Yes, they have their ups and downs like any organisation. I currently work in property maintenance and a believer in good communication, that is not always easy working in any environment. "Proof is in the pudding" as they say. After 21 years with Daniel Watney, a change in personal circumstances has meant I have had to leave the flat I rented and called 'home' for such a long time. Aside from the contractual annual inspections, I enjoyed almost complete peace and quiet, and left undisturbed by the management team looking after me. Having said that, whenever I had an issue which needed attention, this was always dealt with quickly, safely and efficiently, and often using the same few contractors to attend. I was always copied into emails sent to contractors who were asked to contact me directly to arrange either key permission or to give access at a time convenient to myself. Even at the height of the pandemic, Daniel Watney managed to prioritise maintenance issues, and have them rectified in next to no time. Covid restrictions were always taken into account, and I never felt unsafe when any contractor was in attendance. As I said at the start, "proof is in the pudding" and I wouldn't have stayed for 21 years if this pudding was unworthy. I can only recommend with the highest respect and gratitude. Ricky, 339.... One star is even too much . After much research on Block management companies, chose Daniel Watney. They are on a 6 month trial with a view to a long term contract. So far they have been useless. And this is the trial period. After posting 2 years ago I have to say that the service from Daniel Watney is worse than ever. They are totally incompetent. It is incredible that they can still operate as they are just useless. I suggest that anyone looking for a managing agent to block manage a small property stay well clear of these people... Read more

Our Agent Alice was very polite and reachable in every step of the way. My husband and I are new residents in London and we were not familiar with the rent process here - so Alice help us get though all the way, from scheduling the visits until the acceptance of our offer. After that, we started the paperwork and Ania that also did a few meeting to ensure everything was correct. It took only 10 days between scheduling the visit and moving to our new flat! Atrocious, incompetent and expensive. For the last two years they have taken money from us and provided nothing in return. They need constant reminders to do anything. Late on delivery of accounts, disorganised on payments, simply just don’t know what to do. Organising the simplest of house related costs, electricity and gas, baffles them. Answering emails is a infrequent occurrence and when they do it just shows up how little progress they have made. Please do not use this company, although it appears they have lots of experience on their website they don’t or maybe they just don’t care about some of the properties.... Read more

Over 12 hours, in the middle of a pandemic, that 3/4 of our building, which is “managed” by these people, has no running water. Thames Water has already investigated. This is a building issue which is urgent, yet unresolved due to Daniel Watney’s lack of sense of urgency. This is negligence and is dangerous in the context of the pandemic. 24.05.2021 Our roof is still leaking into our Showroom. Through electric fittings. DW choose to ignore my emails and neglect to inform me that no-one has fixed our leak as promised. Only when I chase them do I get a partial response. They are hopeless. We have been tenants of Daniel Watney for over eight years. Their customer service is abysmal. We have had continual leaks. One took over two years to repair. This was water from the waste system of the apartment overhead. It was never treated seriously nor with urgency. And now we have more leaks. They are refusing to pay redecorating costs. They ignore my emails. Do not return calls. Very bad landlord.... Read more

Alice Telfer is an amazing and one of the most professional estate agents that we’ve had the pleasure of working with. She has been staying in touch with us via email and phone calls to see how our property search has been going and how she is able to further help us with our search, advice and explanation of the entire leasing process which is a rarity amongst other agents that we have found. She is always emailing and following up re properties that she feels is an ideal fit for my family and I based on our criteria and is continuously doing so. She is very attentive to our requirements and STICKS to our budget request which is very important to us as some agents with other companies just don’t understand the importantance of this. Having an agent who listens to your requirements and tries to help tick all the boxes off is very important when looking for a property to rent as it is already a stressful process to search for the right property, the last thing you want is an agent that goes out of left field and doesn’t adhere to what you’re trying to articulate and communicate and this is certainly NOT her. Wish there was option to give them 0 stars, advertised retails unit on their website, sign on street Caledonian Road, called them several times email them twice. First was told person dealing with retail unit is on holiday. Then emailed them no response called them again in few hours was told this time person was never on holiday unit has been let already but surprisingly it is still live on their website bunch of liars with suit and tie think are professionals running business cow boys they are Cant name both so called professional here on google due to google policy initials are C and D, both are useless management if you dont want your staff wasting time you better make them work . First waste of time having them sitting on desk lazy enough not able to respond to client emails Second waste of client time probably does not matter for you but surely matters you dont pay them to sit on their desk... Interestingly, despite the phony emails they sent, when called the agent, he hardly spoke English, and his manager wasn't much better either. All the Matt's and Stephen's suddenly couldn't understand the simple question, which house number I need to go to, so they rather vanished and blamed me for not to show up. I did show up and waited for 'Matt' in the rain for 20 minutes. When I told them I'm going to write a Google review, the manager's, 'Stephen' answer was: 'We will use our legal position in case of any comments you make.' ... Now, are you kidding me?????... Currently letting with them and we are all so happy with how responsive the team is. We were definitely sceptical after the previous comment but our experience has been good. After moving in we have had some small issues, but they have got someone in as soon as possible to sort it. Very friendly team who quickly respond over email or phone. The only think I would say is that they may ask for a deposit larger than 6 weeks, so keep that in mind.... Read more
