I beg anyone not to use this company.
Unless you want illness , stress and tears.
Nearly 8 months to complete on a new build property no chain etc. Fentimans held us up every step of the way. Resulting us having to pull out due to them not sticking to dates . They are now trying to charge us a bill even though we already paid £600 to them which we’ve lost.
The director is rude and not helpful in the slightest. Do not use ! Please... Read more

4 months of trying to purchase a garage, for cash! 3 months of chasing the assigned solicitor for any information only to get answers that they were still waiting for something, and waiting. Days of no answer. Informal complaint - no reaction. Formal complaint (via email) - no reaction. Asked for a refund as no service was provided - no answer, no refund. Terrible customer service.... Do not use this firm. I experienced rudeness, a lack of customer care, interest, a very rude and patronising tone with phone calls ignored from me on many occasions and only answered to my husband. If you phone the main help desk and sit in a long queue for vast amounts of time leading to 5pm you are cut off without them responding to those still remaining in the queue. The solicitor we had was in training days leading up to our completion delaying responses when people were obviously anxious within the chain.... Read more

Nearly 4 weeks after accepting the quote with my Law Matters. The Conveyancer contacted us 4 LATER for the documents required before engaging in the matter! The Problem with those offering comparison websites (My Law Matters) you do not know the name of the actual solicitor until you are already 50% paid up. Update 3 months after engaging Fentimans Solicitors they are asking for information that was provided in April 2024. I am not sure if this is incompetence or a deliberate tactic to delay the Legal Completion of the Purchase... Read more

I used My Law Matters (Fentiman Legal) as my solicitors during the purchase of my property. The process was marred with issues, poor communication, and unprofessionalism, topped off by an unhelpful and unapologetic complaints procedure. Avoid at all costs.
The complaints I raised with My Law Matters are as follows. All were deemed acceptable within the standards of the firm and thus no apology or compensation was offered. I've left the same list of complaints here for you to decide if this is the standard of service you would like to pay for.
1. My solicitor went on holiday during the process, and I was never informed, nor assured as to whether or not progress could be made on my case. I found out my solicitor was missing after talking to the estate agent of the property, who had complained of the process of purchasing slowing.
2. The contract for the sale of the property was riddled with errors when sent to me. My name written incorrectly, my address was incorrect - this was still incorrect after the first amendment, the price of the property was incorrect. After I pointed out the errors, I was asked to sign the contract anyway, and trust that my solicitor would amend the contract when it arrived. This was because the solicitors did not know how to change the PDF format document.
3. On the date set for completion, I was not contacted and told that the lender was not prepared to release funds. It was only after reaching out directly that I learnt of the issue. The lender was not prepared to release funds because of a change in the source of deposit. This change in the source of deposit was discussed over email with my solicitor three weeks prior to this date, and I decided to do so only on the recommendation that it would not complicate the process of purchase. Despite this, it meant that completion could not occur on the agreed upon date.
4. I never once was able to speak to my solicitor Ranjit Bhogal over the phone, despite calling the office on 14 separate occasions. Every time I was given an excuse such as 'in a meeting with clients / away from his desk / working on the matter at hand'.
5. The online progress tracker was rarely updated in a timely fashion and updates on progress had to be forced out over the phone. I was rarely ever contacted directly with updates of progress or issues encountered.
6. I was often assured that the documents I provided upon request were satisfactory, only to then receive further requests weeks after, causing more delays.
7. I have never received a direct and sincere apology at any stage for any for the meagre services provided, and the serious delays the were incurred at the responsibility of Fentiman Legal (My Law Matters).
The complaints procedure that I then followed was defensive, dismissive, and unhelpful.
My Law Matters were the source of all stresses during the process of buying and I now actively tell anyone I meet looking to buy to avoid them like the plague.... Read more

Avoid at all costs. Unless you want to be ripped off and charged for emails back and forth to not yourself, but someone who has decided to step down from their executor duties and be threatened that if you don’t come up with the thousands of pounds on top of what’s already been paid for their “services” then paperwork will be held.
My Grandad had been using this firm for many years but having been diagnosed with dimentia I just don’t think he realised what he was setting himself up for. He always dealt with the same person and that person was not Nick Fentiman whom I’m surprised to learn is the company director.
I had tried on several occasions to get through to Nick and was told he would call back. Most likely not interested in dealing with men, rather vulnerable women he can take advantage of. Not once did he return any of my calls and had taken great pleasure by informing the family member left to deal with things the inheritance tax amount to pay and thousands of pounds lost through stocks and shares. Of course this is a way to conduct yourself in your position when clearly it’s obvious someone is already going through a great deal amount of stress not to mention grieving over their lost loved one.
He was very much working for the other person and not the person paying eventually who would be left to deal with it all. Had my Grandad have known this to begin with being a very intelligent man he wouldn’t have invested his time or money into this firm especially knowing the person who had initially dealt with him for years, would be none other than Nick F instead as he invested his money wisely.
Unprofessional to say the least and disgusting poor service at thousands of pounds. Don’t be fooled by the 5* positive reviews, as a family we received nothing but negative and bad experience by a company we thought we could trust to handle my Grandfather’s case. This has changed my whole perception on solicitors and it’s unfortunate because I’m sure there are many good, honest and reliable firms out there but for the minority mentioned it’s certainly made me think twice in future to do my research and go with a reputable firm that provide fixed costs and not charge you stupid amounts per item i.e. £50 per email which has no benefit to you whatsoever. I must add situations also happened that shouldn’t have before probate was granted. You were informed of this. Isn’t this against the law, did you listen and take action?! I think not.
Unfinished case with failure to release important documents and no sympathy or remorse for the family members involved. Unnecessary hefty costs, complete lack of regard and very clearly money grabbers rather than client driven. Educate your children as they could make the mistake of using these fraudsters in future.

Awful experience with fentimans. Avoid at all costs. Was charged £1000 more than quoted for a job that was not completed so I had to pay a proper solicitor to finish the job off a further £600. Was fobbed off with lost paper work on several occasions, was spoken to like a piece of trash by Janet the PA. never again, trying to deal with the loss of my father at the same time as dealing with horrendous rude solicitors created unnecessary upset & stress. Again quoted 3-4 months to deal with ended up taking a year???... Read more
