Over the past 18 months we have had quite a few problems with the property we moved into, which is just kind of falling apart and in need of updating. At first Homeland was quite responsive to our queries, but after the second issue had been fixed they began to dismiss and avoid our requests for things to be fixed. We are constantly told to deal with British Gas ourselves when things go wrong, which no other letting agency has ever had the cheek to suggest to us as renters, let alone impose it as a rule. These in themselves are not terrible issues, but at least six major things have gone wrong since we lived here, not least the boiler having 5 serious faults that needed to be looked at and the attitude of the agents is often dismissive and patronising, while also incredibly lacklustre without the threat of rent being withheld.... Since moving into my flat I have had several problems with my hot water/central heating system and my shower. I've lost count of how many phone calls I've made to Homeland Estates but they have always responded politely and quickly. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.... Read more

The administrative fees were unbelievably high with Homeland Estates and I should have twigged then. I was just happy to be in a nice flat in a nice area. The flat itself was lovely...apart from the seriously stained carpet. This didn't bother me too much, however and I moved in. The letting agents were communicative at first - the light outside the door didn't work and the light in the bathroom didn't work. An engineer was contacted and I made arrangements (with difficulty) for him to come. He did fix the light in the bathroom but the light in the hallway remained unfixed for the 7 months I rented the flat. The front door, which is supposed to be a fire door, had a huge gap under it. I was on the fifth floor of a building with no fire escape so not a comfortable thing to live with. I didn't complain to the letting agents so that isn't something I completely fault them for. What I have a problem with is the lack of response to any emails I sent asking for the light outside the door to be fixed. It wasn't until I handed in my intention to leave that I actually had a response. The part that really makes me angry is that they tried to blame the stains on the carpet on me and not give my deposit back. Thankfully I took the advice of a friend and took LOTS of pictures. They coukdn't deny it then, but I do not believe for one minute that they didn't have a full set of pictures of their own. In fact, they even told me they would compare mine to theirs. I also took pictures of every single mark and scratch...and time stamped them. I am a professional, responsible working adult, but the way I was treated when I gave my notice was appalling. The flat was spotless when I left it - cleaner than when I moved in, but I was spoken to like a worthless piece of dirt they scraped off their shoes. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. I should have known when they added £180.00 extra administration fees on top of the already exorbitant £300 plus they were asking....and if I'd been turned down I would have lost all of it. The checks took about 10 minutes...how was that amount justified? I accept blame for my lack of knowledge and experience but shame on you. I now have my full deposit back and have moved into a nice flat that is fire safe and much cheaper and the landlord goes out of his way to make sure that everything is in good working order. Don't use them. ..I wouldn't...ever...again. Lesson learned.... Read more

These guys were all for the landlord and did not treat us fairly at all considering the situation we found ourselves in. Very dissapointed with the lack of back up we received when we didn't cause them any problems at all. Find them very unprofessional, giving us quotes of £40 for some gardening to be up to scratch on the property that we moved out of (not gardeners at all so not got a clue) to then say deducting £100 from our deposit for the gardening!!!!!! Another £100 to paint 2 walls where the paint had flaked off due to it having been painted with Matt emulsion over the top of silk!!!! No loyalty to us as tennents and certainly no duty of care shown. Far from happy!... Read more
