I'm a landlord and I used James Chiltern as a letting agent. They ignored my tenant for months, failing to make basic repairs to the property without notifying me, making my tenant's life a misery. When I found out, because the tenant contacted me directly, I instructed James Chiltern to make the repairs. But James Chiltern failed to do so and left me to make the repairs at my own cost. Despite this, James Chiltern still took their full letting fee. When I told them it was time to part ways they failed to respond until the rent was due and then took 90% of the month's rent in fees and punitive charges for leaving them. They did that without my consent and without even informing me that they would. I only found out after they'd already taken my money. The service they provided to my tenant was appalling but they've shown no care or worry about that. They've effectively stolen from me under the pretense that a term in a contract says they can, despite being unwilling to supply me with a copy of the contract they're referring to and despite their repeated failures to fulfil their own contractual obligations. Indeed the tenant's AST had long moved on from its fixed term to a rolling contract, yet James Chiltern maintain that my obligation to never leave their service exists in perpetuity. The complaints procedure is essentially non-existant and there has been no attempt on their behalf to negotiate a fair resolution, despite the fact I've only had to remove them as a letting agent due to frequent failures on their behalf. The treatment provided to my tenant makes me wonder if they were trying get them to leave so they could extract more fees from me in finding a replacement. Most estate agents are difficult to deal with at the best of times, but James Chiltern are the worst I've had the misfortune of working with and I would advise anyone to avoid them. My tenant has written to me to thank me for removing James Chiltern as he couldn't take their appalling service any more.... Read more

I was eagerly looking to move in to a new house ; hence had contacted numerous Estate agents, no doubt all displayed apt professionalism. However the proactivness and customer experience displayed by Stahl Fernandes and his team ( JC branch at london road) was stupendous. As a matter of fact , Stahl had gone out of his way to help us ( my spouse and I) in not only explaining each clause but also in getting ourselves settled down in this beautiful house with least stress , that I can now call a 'Home . The team was particularly efficient and responsive while I was renting the property out, including finding good tenants and organising a replacement boiler quickly and efficiently while managing the property. When I sold the property the marketing was professional and they found a suitable buyer almost immediately. I'm a landlord who used this business for several years and am very dissatisfied with them. They are extremely forgetful and unresponsive. You have to chase them to do anything, even get the tenancy agreements signed which you'd expect to be their first priority. They seem incapable of solving tenant's problems or effectively communicating with tenants. They only contact you when they want money, otherwise they just ignored your emails.... Read more
